f you want the short story- put your mouse away, close the computer, stop the hours of research and reading reviews. Pick up your phone and call Alexs (845) 741-8607. This is the only company you will need for all of your new or old construction needs, at very reasonable rates. Keep in mind, AMV is in demand and you should schedule ASAP if going forward. Now for the long story- sit down grab a beer or cup of coffee. Meet the amazing crew: Aleks (the Magician), Mike (the Perfectionist), Benny (the Astounding Albanian) and Jerm (the Talking Bull). After calling AMV for an estimate, Aleks scheduled a next day appointment. Aleks shows up at our agreed time and this is where the best contractor experience I have ever had begins. We go over the scope of work I would like done. There is one task Aleks tells me up front, that he has never done before, and that is the knockdown texture on the ceiling. Rather than bringing in another contractor just for the ceiling, we agree to give it a try with the understanding if I do not like it, I will not be charged. Aleks points out the many mistakes I had in my design thoughts. We go over his suggestions, which I might add, were all beneficial up the line. There was no up selling, just great ideas. Two days later I receive an email with proposal, we make some changes, and agree on the price and start date. The magic transition begins on the start date agreed on. The van pulls into my driveway at 8:15 AM, just like it did every day going forward. Starting each morning with a handshake and hello, the day begins. For the most part, you can expect a full day of work each day. The exception would be if the crew has completed one task and there is no sense in starting a new task with time constraints. You will always see either Aleks or Mike with Benny or Jerm, or all 4 on any given day. The biggest take away here is that these guys do not cut corners and will do ANYTHING to make the job right, and you happy. Another worthy note to keep in mind is, along with quality work, AMV uses only top quality materials, right down to the screws and nails. I remember at one point, my wife and I were not sure of our choice of backsplash color that we had picked out. Aleks already had six square feet up on the wall. We told him we were not feeling our choice of color. His response was, No problem, I can take it down now. I will start over with your new tile, dont settle, you will be looking at it for a long time. You have to love it now. If that wasnt enough, the new tile we picked out that night at Lowes needed to be special ordered, with a two week delay. I called Aleks from Lowes, knowing he had his next job scheduled during that time period. His response was, Get what you like and we can work it out. I realize time is money and I caused him extra time. The only thing in his thought process was to make me happy. By the way, Aleks did his homework on the knockdown texture. He was relentless until he got it right. It looks great! I would like to touch on my comment, plenty of extras. Here are just two examples. The crew was constantly going up and down my basement stairs for supplies. While doing so, Aleks noticed that my stairs were shifting from the wall. He made me aware of the danger of collapsing. At some point, I go to use the stairs myself and bingo, the stairs are sturdy like new. The other example is, I had a charging cord for my cordless vac, going from my dining room outlet and wrapping around the wall and basement door jam, to the vac on the wall of the stairs. Next thing I know, I have an outlet on the wall of the stairs for direct connection to my vac. Tell me, what contractor does this without gouging you? I am convinced, you will not come across a more honest and helpful group of guys in the construction business. From what Ive seen, they can do it all. You need to call AMV for your next job! The only thing left to say is that our dining room/kitchen looks more amazing than we ever dreamed of and the deck will last a hundred years. Thank you Guys, for an amazing job well done.

I recently purchased a ranch fixer-upper which was built in 1970 and was wired mostly with aluminum branch circuits.  There was a very short period of time this during the late 60s and early 70s that aluminum wiring was sometimes used in homes but was quickly abandoned due to an increased risk of fire.  It is a serious issue and fortunately our building inspector caught it and we were able to negotiate some money off the price which we hoped would help cover some of the cost of repair.  There is a code-approved "fix" called a Copalum pig-tail but this is really more of a temporary fix and not really a permanent solution as far as we were concerned.
I called Omar based on his excellent reviews here and he came out for a free consultation to discuss a strategy to determine the best way to deal with it.  Since we are renovating the bathroom and kitchen anyway, we knew we were going to at least re-wire those areas with copper while the walls were opened up but we weren't really sure what we would do with the other spaces.
Omar came up with a great plan to pull up new copper circuits from the basement to the attic that he would use to rewire the kitchen and bathroom and he would also pull up enough extra circuits so he (or someone else) could eventually rewire the remainder of the upstairs and we would have all the circuits needed in junction boxes in the attic so there would not be a need to reopen the walls to get wires from the panel (in the basement) up to the attic. He also went ahead and gave me a price to rewire everything all at once if I wanted but as I asked, he came up with a great phased approach that would have allowed me to do it over time if needed.  I went ahead and decided to do it all as the incremental cost was not that much more.
His team showed up two days later for 4+ long days of work and they were able to completely rewire the bathroom and the rest of the house with new copper circuits. The guys were courteous, professional and very pleasant to be around as my father and I were doing some other work on the house that the same time.  They were able to fish the new lines down into the walls to completely rewire all the switches, outlets, lights, etc. WITHOUT having to open up walls and cut any additional holes other than the main one used to run the circuits up into the attic.  I trusted them enough to provide access to the house during times when nobody else could be there.  Since they had to remove all the outlets and switches anyway, they offered to install new regular switches and outlets at no extra costs or offered to install the fancy Leviton Decora switches and outlets if I provided them - which I did.  Since there are probably at least 50-60 switches and outlets, that alone would have been a pretty big job so I appreciate that foresight which gave me the opportunity to upgrade all of that for no additional labor cost.
At completion, they also recommend a drywall guy to help patch what few access holes they needed to create who gave me a fair price andalso fixed some other pre-existing drywall holes, cracks, etc. while he was there without even being ask or requesting additional money.
I have more electrical work to do to the house and a few other outbuildings and will definitely used Ohms Electrical in the future.

I've used them before and I liked them. I've been pleased with them. You get a fast response from them. The people explain what they are doing before they do it. It's always good work. They are accessible and personable. They are expensive though.

This is the second time we've used Mr. Daley. (He installed our generator.) I wouldn't consider using another electrician. We didn't know if he did this kind of work, but we called and he did. My husband telephoned on a Thursday. Mr. Daley came the next day and gave us an estimate. The job was completed on Monday. He's professional, affordable and respectful of his client's property. I'd also like to mention that he's personable and while he and his staff are on the job, there's no nonsense. They get right to work. I highly recommend Ohms Electric!
