Bathtub Refinishing reviews in Jamaica

    Supreme Bath Refinishing
Alex who was the technician showed up on time and was well prepared to do the job. I felt he was very detailed and he did a great job getting my bathtub to look brand new. I am very pleased with the work that was done, Alex did a good job cleaning up after himself also. I would definitely work with this company again and would recommend to my friends and family.

I did not want to change the old tub. This service was completed in 2011 and I was very pleased with the look of the tub. The only con was that the service person removed the grout around the tub and did not replace it

    CUSTOM SPRAYING AND REGLAZING
They were very happy to answer any and all questions about the job.  They came on time and were very willing to come back promptly to do minor touch ups.  Jimmy White is very pleasant and easy to deal with.  His employee, Martin, has been with a long time and is experienced.   They use the latest technology and materials.  They have a glaze from a noted manufacturer that drys in six hours and they have a non-skid bath mat that is easy to clean, lasts a long time and blends with the tub.  They are very reliable and do good work.  I highly recommend them.

The process ultimately went well,  although Dmitry had to come to my home twice.  My house is old and so are my shower doors.  On Dmitry's first visit, he discovered a problem with removal of the doors which prevented him from beginning  the work.  He explained that, in order to properly refinish the tub, the doors had to be removed.  Once the problem was resolved, Dmitry returned and did a wonderful job.  My tub is beautiful!
I found Dmitry to be very professional and conscientious.  Also, there was nothing for me to clean up after the job was completed.
I am very satisfied with Dmitry's work and would readily recommend him to others.  Moreover, I found Dmitry to be a very nice person.

Redeemed Angie's List $299 Big Deal for refinish of bathtub. Had to add $100 for chips and paint removal and $20 for fast dry. Dimitry was very sweet and took nearly sevin hours to refinish my old back cast iron tub. The tub was previously refinished and was completely peeling. He peeled the old pain away, fixed multiple chips to his best ability, sanded, primed and sprayed mulitple coats of white paint. He had a fab to exhaust the fumes outside the bathroom window. My tub was so ugly before that I am pleased with the new results

    It went pretty good.

I informed Mr. Arnopolous that i wanted to reglaze my jacuzzi bath tub. He explained to me that he didn't  recommend doing tub jets because I couldn't use them after it dried.  He also informed me there was an additional charge of $59.00 for a top coating.  I agreed and he covered up and ventilated area.  It went well and I was satisified.

I purchased an Angie's List deal that cost $159 to have this company reglaze my bathtub.  According to the deal, the price included labor and materials for a "complete bathtub re-glazing" in the color white.  So I contacted the company and they were prompt to respond but mentioned that if I have a cast iron tub or a previously glazed tub that it would cost an additional $300 to first strip the tub.  That would have been important information to include in the "fine print."  They mention that "colors are extra" so they should also mention that stripping is extra and necessary for a proper re-glazing of those types of tubs.  It did not indicate that in the fine print.  I was not planning on paying $459 to have this job done.  So I contacted Angie's List for a refund and they said they would refund the price I paid for the deal.  I wanted to share this with other Angie's List members so you are aware of this extra cost.  Again, I don't have anything negative to say about the quality of work for this company because I didn't end up having them re-glaze the tub.  My negative rating is due to the fact that their deal was misleading.  It probably was not intentionally misleading but nevertheless people should be aware of this extra cost.

    NEW SUPERIOR TUB REFINISH CORP
The person was supposed to show up at 12.  I called in at 11:20 to ask if there was anything I needed to do before the repair person got to the house, and it was only then that the operator told me the repair person would be late.  He said that we would probably be about half an hour late, which I thought was fine - not ideal, but ok.  But by 1:30, I had to call back to check on the guy again.  He showed up shortly thereafter, over an hour and a half late.
He did work quietly and efficiently.  However, he didn't speak English which made it very difficult to communicate with him and he wasn't able to give us any instructions on how to care for the tub.  He also left the entire bathroom covered in painters tape and paper - I understand why you would have to leave the area around the tub papered, but the whole bathroom?  He removed some bathroom fixtures and didn't mention that - we later found them in the sink, covered in paper.
The tub itself is just ok - I can still see where the original chips were, and the finish isn't exactly even.  Plus, there are some scuff marks in the tub that look like maybe he put something down in there before it was dry.  It isn't what I expected, but I just don't know if its worth calling them back - I don't have another two days to waste as this is our only functioning bathroom.
I think I would probably go with someone else next time.

    Handyman of NY
I’ve been in contact with them several times about scheduling the work. The most recent time, 2 or 3 days before our appointment, when I spoke with them they let me know that it was highly likely that they would have to fully strip my tub for an extra $300 (before they would guarantee their work). They couldn’t tell me if I would need this extra work or not until they saw the tub. I asked him if he could come take a look at it when they came and then to let me know if the extra expense would apply so that I could make my decision then and he said no I would forfeit the $159 Big Deal if I cancelled the reglazing for their travel time. I felt that this was dishonest and I don’t feel comfortable having them do any work in my home so I am asking for a refund on all my Deals with them.

To make a long story short, I was not informed - either by Handyman of New York or by Angie's List - that the chemical materials used to refinish our tub are toxic, that they are dangerous to anyone who has a respiratory problem (my daughter and I both have prblems with asthma) and that the fumes would last for hours all through our house. Nor were we told that all of our windows should have been open throughout the time time it took to do the job and until it dried CONSIDERABLY LATER than we were told it would take. I would have expected the finish to be more even than it is. In addition, after less than a month, I see that there are a number of small pits in the surface.
I would call these people up to demand that they fix the surface areas that are not smooth, but I do not want to ever smell those toxic fumes again. And I certainly don't want my family to have to do so. (In fact, I warned the workman that repeated exposure to these fumes were bound to cause him severe health problems ion the long run.)
I recommend that anyone who wishes to refinish his or her bathtub find an alternate method of doing so.
