    DM Contracting & Restoration Inc
All of our friends who worked with contractors couldn't recommend one to us because of negative experiences. We met with nine contractors before deciding on DM Contracting (and they were the ninth). From the start Danny took his time, asked the right questions, always explained exactly what would be done and was helpful with suggestions. Their quote was in the mid-range of the nine we received. After he gave us a quote, I asked if Danny could give us some examples of additional costs that may come up during the renovation. He said "The price is the price. Unless you decide down the line to change something major, like taking down a wall, the price won't change." They definitely kept their word on that. A number of things came up during renovation outside of DM's control, and they went out of their way to resolve those issues professionally. For instance, we had a plumbing issue, and they reopened and resealed the tile wall twice for no charge. Any time we were unclear on anything or had concerns throughout the process, Danny would schedule a time to talk and go through everything with us, sometimes speaking with us for an hour or more. He worked well with our co-op board and super, kept a clean worksite, and most importantly, delivered great work for us. Whenever someone came over outside of DM (people measuring for our cabinets, or painter companies giving us quotes) they would make comments on the quality of the work being done and the cleanliness of the site. The crew on our job was mainly Marco and Angel, and any time I came over to check on things or point out any issues they were resolved right away. Hiring a contractor is inherently stressful, but we couldn't imagine having had selected a better company. We would recommend DM to anyone.

    Arta Construction
Ive needed to renovate my kitchen for more than a decade. When I started the process I invited three contractors to give me estimates and plans; one was recommended by a friend, one I found from their advertising on a work truck, and Andy, whom I found on Angies List. Andy was the only one of the three who provided a firm written estimate, a timeline, and detailed ideas for the project. All gave me the same price, but two could not be bothered to provide the sort of written material a co-op Board would need (they gave me oral estimates or sent me text messages). When Andy told me he would have it done in 7-8 business days I became suspicious. Ive never heard of anyone getting a kitchen completely renovated in under two weeks. I was wrong. Andy and his crew were punctual, meticulous, efficient, thoughtful, tidy, and polite. Andy responds promptly to his text messages, he attends details with care, not just details of the job itself but also of things like cabinet design, Certificates of Insurance, proof of licensure, co-op Board approval. Working with Andy was a pleasure and I could not be happier with the finished product. Anyone in need of a contractor would be foolish not to consider hiring Andy.

Marcel and his team were really great. His team was really professional, clean, friendly, and had a great work ethic. We're really happy with the results and look forward to working with his team again on a few upcoming projects. Marcel was always really kind, understanding, helpful, and willing to do whatever it took to make us stay within budget and keep us informed of progress or any issues that came up during the month-long job.

All the work was top of the line quality. His employees were tidy, respectful, worked hard and did an beautiful job. All work was completed on time. When he purchased needed materials he brought the receipts, listed everything out and explained what the purchases were for. We plan on using his services again in the spring to continue renovating our home.

Throughout the 2 weeks, Rick was very responsive with my texts and phone calls about all aspects of the job. We traded punch lists and photos on what needed to be done, especially in the home stretch of the project. He was always courteous and professional regardless of what issues arise --there always are in any renovation project. They finished the job today and reminded me that they warranty the work for one year. Overall, I am very pleased with how the project turned out.

    Eli's Painting & Renovations Inc
We used Eli?s Painting and Renovationsto fix up a 1935 3 BR house we bought in Jackson Heights, and that was a greatdecision. The house was worn down. Assoon as we closed, we did a walk-through with Eli, and he gave us a quote forthe floors (sanding, staining, refinishing), and all walls and ceilings (skimcoating and painting). The quote was better than we expected, and based on ourstudy of Eli?s reviews and his excellent suggestions, we didn?t seek acompetitive quote. Two weeks later (before we moved in), everything lookedgreat, and we decided to renovate the bathroom (tiling floor and walls, new fixtures, lighting, and painting).
Everything looked fantastic, and Eli?screw worked like crazy to make sure we had a livable place to move into. Ouroriginal plan was to wait for a bit and redo the kitchen (a major project)sometime down the road. But then we decided to bite the bullet as long as wewere on a roll, and Eli?s crew took on that task, too.
The kitchen needed to be completelyredone: floors, walls, ceiling, lighting, appliances, sink, countertops, backsplash, venting, cabinets, and lighting. Eli?s did that over the next 4weeks, and we were in the house for the last three of those weeks.
In sum, the place looks great. The pricewas great. The completion time was great. All walls and ceilings skim coatedand painted, all doors and trim painted, all wood floors refinished, newlighting installed, new electrical outlets and light switches, and totallygutted and remodeled kitchen and bathroom, all completed in just over twomonths. Pretty impressive, considering no corners were cut and there was nodeviation from the estimate.
The communication was great (Rachel,Eli?s wife, is an excellent interface). Eli and Rachel are friendly and responsive, and it is obvious they care a great deal about the quality of their work. Eli?sforeman Gustavo can do just about anything, and if he can?t, he or Eli willfind someone who can.
If you are looking for excellent work ata great price, and you are willing to stay involved with the process as itdevelops, Eli?s is a great choice. If you want to vacation in Geneva during a$300/sq. ft. renovation, then go elsewhere. When spring comes, we?re going tohave Eli?s replace all our old broken windows. I can?t imagine why we would haveanyone else working on future projects. Don?t let the ?painting? in the namefool you ? Eli?s does an outstanding painting job, but his crew is capable ofall types of renovations too.

    Tedora Inc
I highly recommend Tedora! I hired them using an Angie's list deal for a handyman for a day. IIgor and an assistant arrived to 1.install and hang my Ikea kitchen wall cabinets,
    2.installed the gas stove,
3.changed about 14 electric wall outlets and light switches, fixing one or two dead outlets in the process.
4.and built and installed four Ikea/Home Depot lighting fixtures
Basically, I needed help doing the stuff I could not, or am not qualified, to do. I chose Tedora because of their A grade on Angies list, and their good reviews. It was a good choice of contractor.
Though our appointment was for 1pm, they texted me that morning and asked if they could arrive earlier, which was great and very considerate of them. I am renovating my apartment in Queens. They arrived with their tools, I told them what I needed done (all of 5 sentences) and they got straight to work with minimal direction. I honestly didn't think they could complete everything on my to do list in four hours, but they did. That is evidence to me that they are knowledgeable, experienced, and efficient. Period. They left the space clean and with nary a footprint.
Honestly, it was so easy and seamless, and ended up being one of those rare customer service experiences that makes you pleased and restores a little bit of my faith in humanity. Finally, a company can come in, do everything quickly and professionally, and leave no trace of work. What else can you ask for?
Also, I kind of admire Igor and his associate. They are young, building a company, and probably doing Angies list deals to help build a reputation for their company. I am a business owner, so I know how hard that is. Kudos to these guys. They are a good choice, and I recommend them. Life is about who you do business with. Choosing Tedora is a good choice if you want a project completed the right way and with minimal worry on your part. I'm a fan.

    Paragon Remodeling Group
It was very difficult communicating in the beginning.  The workers were not neat and contentious about their work.  I felt there was lack of supervision.  However towards the end of the job a new project manager was hired, Paul Badolato.  Excellent communication  skill. He was a person I would expects recommended by Angie.  He explained before doing the work.  He performed the corrections that needed to be done.  He brought with him a new worker that I thought was much better that the previous workers. Paul completed the work in a short time.  And left the place clean.  I responded yest about would you use this provider in the future that is if I had Paul Badolato as the project manager.

    Gotham Builders of New York
We hired Gotham builders to renovate our small kitchen and bathroom and are very happy with the work. The team who conducted the renovation (Billy, Dave, Billy (there were two), Romero, I'm mainly looking at you!) and other members were very professional, considerate and skilled at what they do. They were never late and if I had any questions they took time and care into responding to my questions. I really appreciate that they checked with me about the placement of the handles in our cabinets before putting them in. (I'm pretty obsessive about spacing and symmetry.) In addition.
Also, I initially wanted our backsplash to be made up of white subway tiles with black grout. But Billy was very direct and told me that the black tends to bleed into the subway tile, so I opted for a dark grey. I was paranoid that the grey wouldn't be dark enough but I love it. In the bathroom, he did a wonderful job of sourcing a toilet that would fit a tight amount of space (the space is also taken up by the steam pipe). I'm going to be painting the walls a soft black so I told the team that they didn't have to paint the walls, just the ceiling was fine. But they graciously primed the walls for me so that all I'd have to do is get my paint and paint away (which I still haven't gotten around to doing yet.) I really appreciate their honesty and directness. An all around wonderful team :)
At the office, Angelina was a great help! I personally feel she went above and beyond with our co-op board paperwork. We had a short window of time so I just sent her the paperwork rather than reading it first and sending. She beat me to the finish line and directed my attention to details I hadn't gotten to yet.
This is actually our first renovation experience and so we'd been expecting it to be extremely stressful. I can't say that it was 100% stress free because changes always contain some level of stress. However, the level of professionalism and support provided by everyone at Gotham Builders definitely made it such a positive experience that we'll definitely be using them in future.

&Chuck and the team at Prestigious were recommended to me by an architect friend. The quote came in the lowest & during our review of the project, Chuck brought up some really good points that nobody else had mentioned to me. With his many years in the industry, I immediately knew Prestigious was the company to help me realize my dream. The end product is superb. Chuck is a creative problem solver. He has great taste & vision. He looks out for the customers best interest & comes up with solutions that work and are economical. I trust Chuck and the crew at Prestigious implicitly & highly recommend them.
