    Integrated Property Solutions Co
Tony, my assigned handyman is a bright and creative person of unusually varied skills. It seemed that he could lay his hands on an appliance and diagnose the problem in minutes-then fix the problem that hadnt been done properly by his predecessor. He is very alert and responsive to my thoughts and suggestions and successfully dealt with the items on my list. I expect a return visit to deal with a roof patch and gutter flush that rain had prevented on the day of his work.

    Crown Construction Inc
It started 5/7/18 and is not done yet. There have been numerous mistakes in ordering material, very poor quality work, damage to our lawn and landscaping, work site not cleaned up, no follow through in resolving problems. Communication is non-existent. Nothing has gone the way we were told it would. This project has been a disaster.

    Colgan Construction
In every case, Brien showed himself to be not just a conscientious and competent workman, but a creative problem-solver. Work on a house built in 1863 is always a challenge since the house has settled over the years, but Brien has proved to be up to the challenge. I would recommend him when you have a knotty problem to solve because he has a real talent for addressing complicated issues. His rates are not cheap, but he's worth the price because his work is always excellent and he seems to be able to figure out a way to solve almost any problem.

    Colgan Construction
We agreed to a time and materials contract with Colgan Construction which was our first mistake. Brien's original estimate of the work was almost $75,000 which we wanted to work to reduce. He assured us that this was possible and we worked to remove some of the original scope to keep costs lower. However, the work dragged on with no end in sight and with us footing the bill. Whenever we asked Brien for an update on costs and an estimate of when it would be complete, he first promised a completion date Thanksgiving, which slipped to Christmas, then to the end of January and into February. At that time we finally had to fire him as we were out of money. There was scope creep on the job and when we asked him for estimates he consistently underpriced it, assuring us that he was familiar with old houses such as ours. Only after we were well into each change did we find out the true cost. Brien would get frustrated when we'd ask him for updated costs, which he heavily relied on his accounting software to provide. He didn't have an office manager to handle the paperwork so he was acting as general contractor, laborer, accountant and office manager. Further issues arose when we would receive Invoice summaries that included invoices which we never received. This only exacerbated the issue of us not ever understanding what the true costs of the renovations were to that point. Brien also took vacations/side jobs during the work on our house, which we were understanding of to a point. Vacation is understandable but it was sometimes weeks where we hadn't seen them working on our project numerous times. After months of the costs escalating we tried to renegotiate a flat fee for the remainder of the work which he refused saying that, given all the surprises the house raised, he didn't have the confidence to quote a flat fee. Additionally, cleaning labor was charged at the same rates as the contracting work which was expensive and unfair in our eyes. We asked him at the end of the job to stop cleaning so we wouldn't incur further costs and ended up cleaning the job site ourselves. At the end of the day, the job cost us 1.5 times the original estimate that we wanted to reduce in the first place! Overall, Brien did a good job with small projects but is woefully unequipped to manage a larger renovation such as ours.

    Gary's Painting and Small Repairs
Gary is always very professional in his work. He is prompt, courteous, and efficient. Gary is able to go above and beyond most other painters because he has the skills to perform minor repairs in the walls or woodwork himself, so is able to offer a more finished product. I've found his rates very reasonable and often favorable to others. His rates are why I and my colleagues and friends initially hire him, but the quality of his work and his easy personality keep us going back to use him routinely.

    Norb Miller General Contractor
Norb solved big problems for me with no fuss or BS. He worked quickly and arrived early every day. He offered helpful suggestions to do the renovation smarter and?followed up with regular consultations during the process, which went on for weeks due to arrival of new cabinets. After the?countertops and backsplash were installed by others, he came back to hook up the plumbing.

J&M Power Washing, Painting and Window Cleaning
Really well.  Pressure washing looks great and it was a tough job with a lot of mildew and overhanging roofs.  The interior painting went very well too.  Price was great, very attentive to details, on schedule, easy to communicate with the owners who oversaw the work every day.

    Bumblebee Painters
Bumblebee painters started the job on time in spring as requested. The owner, Steele Steffy, came frequently to the job site and was always open to questions of all our homeowners. There were many more boards in our siding that needed to be replaced than originally anticipated, but they did a very good job in replacing them all, even when this required to work  longer on our project as planned They even accommodated special requests, like a color change shortly before the painting started. All the windows were thoroughly covered when paint or stain was sprayed.  Our windows did not need any extra cleaning after the job was done. Everything was carefully cleaned after the work.
The workers were friendly and polite and small mistakes were made up as soon they were noticed by the company or our
    residents.
