Health Care Facility reviews in Ithaca

They were so bad with her open-heart surgery that many people want us to sue the doctor. The staff and the nurses were the only good part of it and Dr. Green. That was the only decent part of the whole experience.

    Aetna Inc
Aetna is the health care provided by my employer. it's not too bad as far as insurance companies go. i managed a doctors office years ago and saw a lot worse, in general i am satisfied. i wish the co-pays for visits and meds were less, but prices are high everywhere.

    Aetna Inc
Aetna has been my health insurance provider on and off for the past 20 years. (My employers have switched to other carriers for better rates and then back to Aetna again). My last employer switched back to Aetna effective January 2013. I have seen a significant improvement in the time claims are processed as well as the customer service (with the exception of the very long automated message you get when calling for help). I called customer service a couple days ago. I didn't have to wait long  to speak with someone. The customer service representative I talked with was pleasant, helpful, and answered my question without transferring me to someone else.

    Excellus Bluecross Blueshield Rochester
I called to check what had been covered for a recent medical procedure (as I have done numerous times in the past). My questions were answered thoroughly and cordially. The phone representative seemed genuinely concerned that all my questions were answered.

    Convenient Care at Ithaca
I felt the doctor there was ignorant.  The neurologist, with all the technology, could not figure out what was wrong with me.  It was just stress, per my father whom is a doctor in Venezuela.  The staff were very nice and they did everything they knew to do but they couldn't cure me.  They just want you to take pills.  I feel the hospital was good, they do what they can, but feel the doctor's do not cure anything.  They were fast, nice, attentive, and very good.  Their billing process was like a joke.  They didn't file the paperwork properly.

    Convenient Care Center
I went to this facility 4 times to have the recommended series of rabies shots. Each time, I sat for 30-50 min before being called to have my blood pressure and temperature taken, then a full medical history. Another 30-60 minutes would pass before seeing the physician. Except for the first time, this was basically a courtesy call. There was no need to be examined, so they simply walked in the room and said hi. Another 30 minutes passed before the shot was administered, and then 20-30 minutes to wait to be discharged. I think this is excessive. There is no need to see a doctor when coming in on a recurring visit just for a shot. Also, the average of 2.5 hrs to get the shot is way too much. Not really my definition of convenient care, but it did get the job done.

    Cayuga Medical Center at Ithaca
My daughter was sent from her primary physician's office to the hospital for testing to confirm the diagnosis of appendicitis. After the surgeon saw her, she was admitted and taken to the operating room. She ended up spending two evenings in the hospital. It was not a fun experience but the nurses were very kind and appropriate. They kept my 7 year old happy with videos, only interrupted when absolutely necessary, and were always smiling. They also were very clear about the discharge instructions and answered all my questions.

The call went well. The bill is now under review and they are looking into whether I still owe them anything.

Aetna has been very good to deal with. They haven't thrown up any roadblocks to treatment, pay my bills correctly and reasonably fast, and quickly resolve any issues.
