Electrician reviews in Hyde Park

    Scrubs LLC
They are NOT licensed electricians or plumbers. They are perhaps the most unprofessional that I have seen in 17 years of rehabbing houses. The electrical bus panel was left disorganized, breakers unmarked. They claimed to be licensed, but a check to verify produced the fact that they are not licensed in Poughkeepsie, NY or any other place that I checked. They wired up the timer to a water heater using three wires, instead of the required four. I was left with leaky joints in the plumbing, due to used Shark Bite parts. Shoddy, substandard work throughout. Do not walk away from these guys, RUN.

Home Improvements & Repairs by John Gasparro
John Gasparro was professional and friendly during his estimate and remodeling services. He contacted us quickly when we called or when he had questions about details of his service. He was reliable and prompt. If he needed to change his appointment time he contacted us as soon as possible. John left the work area clean and neat each day. He had tasteful suggestions on what items would fit well in our bathroom. John's work enhanced the look of our home, while staying within our budget.

    Maskell Merritt Construction

I hired Maskell Merritt Construction to remodel my dated 1970s bathroom and I am very pleased with their work!   Josh and his crew installed a new toilet, vanity and fixtures (including all the plumbing), upgraded electrical, installed new light fixtures and ceiling fan, installed a new tile floor and painted the entire bathroom.

I found Josh to be very honest and trustworthy and his fee to be very reasonable.  I plan to hire him again when I renovate my kitchen.

Michael is the kind of contractor that everyone hopes to work with. He's organized, on time, friendly but professional, does a fantastic job and is a straight-talker so you know what he's talking about, what your options are and how much you expect to spend up front instead of after the fact. We've had some issues come up along the way and he's gone out of his way to make sure we were safe, even when he wasn't getting paid.

    DS Electric
Dave Stewart is very easy to work with.  He came to my house to discuss the job, asked pertinent questions that I hadn't thought of, and gave me an estimate that was very reasonable.  When the work was ready to be done, his very polite crew showed up, and did the work quietly.  There were times when they came while I was at work.  I would give them specific instructions over the phone, (like where I wanted an outlet or box placed) and when I got home it would be exactly as I had requested.
Dave's communication throughout our entire project was excellent.  He was very approachable thru emails, and always followed up after his crew was done, to see if I was satisfied.  I would definitely hire him back again for future projects, because this last one was so hassle-free.

    KWD Electric Inc
I used KWD Electric 2 times in the recent past and was planning to write a review after the 3rd and final visit to my mother's house. The first to jobs went well, one "simple" (replacing 6 outlets) and one "complex" upgrading the service panel plus a couple other items. Ken was late both times and his responsiveness to my initial contact took a little too long but I overlooked that. The 3rd visit he was to replace all switches and outlets in the kitchen (after the renovation). On July 30th Ken's email stated a quote would follow in a  day or two. It is now August 26th and I am still waiting. Needless to say this is very rude and extremely unprofessional.

Update: Ken did apologize for forgetting and stated he would not take on more than he could schedule.

9-4-2013 Update: Thank you Ken for the offer of a few free hours of labor. I may consider this the next time I need some electrical work done.

    Fetzer Electric LLC
The technician, Tom, was extremely knowledgeable and eager to help. In addition to replacing the outlet, he also rerouted our garage door opener circuit in such a way that it would not be affected by the GFI in the future and explained that it didn't need the GFI protection and that the load of using the garage door opener regularly while unnecessarily going through the GFI could have cumulatively contributed to the GFI failure in the first place. I am also pleased that within five minutes of my filling out the problem online, Fetzer responded and the other three companies returned by the online service never did -- they have yet to even try to call me, even though I would tell them the work is done. The only comment I have is that when Fetzer did respond, I would have liked to have been told in advance that they were located over an hour from me and that they charge for travel time. Tom told me this when he arrived, but to his credit he didn't charge me for the full travel time because there were traffic tie-ups. Technically I think Fetzer is a very professional and good company to do business with, but if I have electrical problems in the future I would very likely try to get someone closer. If Fetzer opened a satellite office in Dutchess county in addition to their current office in Orange county I would gladly do business with them again, but as it is, the . charge for travel means an extra avoidable expense.

Wow, Alan is a truly a helpful, honest, and commendable person, which I think is rare nowadays. I called him earlier today based on the reviews on Angie's list and was directed to his VM. While I was still leaving the message he called me back, talk about promptness! I had no working power on the side of my townhouse and I while I was in the middle of explaining the problem my husband asked for the phone and talked to him in more detail about the issues we were having.
Alan helped my husband over the phone and solved the problem within 5 mins.! Our doorbell and outdoor outlets had not been working for months! Not only was he helpful and patient with my husband over the phone, but he did this as a courtesy. I'm sure if we had called anyone else, they would have insisted on coming to the house and charging us a service fee for a job that took less than a minute.
Alan didn't know who we were, he didn't have to help us over the phone and for that I'm extremely impressed with his service. We will definitely be calling him again when we need any electrical work done on our home and we will also be recommending him to our friends and neighbors. It's refreshing to find kind and honest people out there! Thank you Alan, you made our day!

The workers showed up on time.  They cleared out areas they worked in and even cleaned up after themselves... putting everything back exactly.   Just wish they would have used their tools to clean up instead of mine.  The look of the work was neat and clean as I would have hoped.

He asked for twenty dollars and I gave him sixty because it was an emergency. We only used him once. He came by recommendation of a plumber that we use. We called him and he came right over. e fixed it in twenty minutes. He asked for twenty dollars because he was already in the neighborhood. He did not want to charge us much because there were no parts involved. I voluntarily paid him more because he was such a gentleman. I will certainly use him in the future.
