AMonk's Home ImprovementsIt went extremely well. The new door is beautiful and the workers were pleasant to work with. We needed some work done outside around the door, and the foreman gave us a great suggestion which worked perfectly for us. The banister (for our center hall colonial) was very intricate, and the old stain needed to be hand sanded in several areas and was tedious work. The crew did a wonderful job, and the new stain looks great. The family room and trim needed to be refreshed (this is the room the French door was added to) and it looks like a great job. The painters were very professional, and did a great job, including cleanup. We could not be happier with how things turned out.- Mark S.

AMonk's Home ImprovementsI talked with Kurt Becker of Monk's Home Improvements on August 13 about getting painters to refresh the rooms on the first floor of my house as well as the master bath on the second floor. The house is for sale and I was contacting him from out of state as I have already moved. In quick order, he visited the house, sent me an estimate and once I confirmed, he booked a start date of Monday, August 24. The painters used a day to prep and to take wallpaper down in one of the rooms. They painted 4 rooms, two hallways, one bath - including ceilings, doors and trim work and were finished by Friday, August 28. The house looks terrific and we are so grateful to Kurt and Monk for their prompt response and quick completion of the job - and especially for working with me long distance. AMagnolia Home Remodeling GroupWe had a three “room” project completed in November 2020: Framing - Removed back wall of house and part of the roof, rebuilt ceiling, installed beam, and rear wall Kitchen/Dining Room - Full gut job….new electrical, insulation, walls, floors, backsplash, appliances, paint, fixtures, etc. Deck - New from scratch. 17x17 with a pressure treated frame and timbertech composite decking, rails, balusters, steps, etc. ...since they were going to be replacing the roof where the new section was built, they also replaced our entire roof. The cost was reasonable relative to what it would’ve been to replace just the smaller portionn of the rebuilt roof. The subcontractors were all very professional and quality was high across the board. Here are the important points: -Communication - Stellar for the entire duration of the project (negotiating, permits, selections, day-to-day, inspections, etc.). Vic was our point person but had another person help when needed (permits, payments, etc.). When I needed something, it was Vic I worked with. We worked almost exclusively by text but got on phone calls when the situation called for it. -Schedule - Before we started the project, Magnolia claimed the project would take 4 months. I believe this would’ve been projected to be 3 months if we weren’t operating in a pandemic but the materials were a concern based on the initial plans the architect drew up. The entire project ended up taking 9 weeks from demo day 1 to the final inspection. Very impressive. -Pricing - Magnolia is not cheap but you’re paying for a contractor that’s experienced and proven in certain areas (e.g. kitchens, roofs, etc.) and has established relationships with the subcontractors they use. -Subcontractors and quality - Kitchen designer was flexible with what we were looking for but we had another kitchen that we used as a near mirror-image of what we wanted. The one thing that may be a concern here is that if you don’t know what you want, there might be a lot of back-and-forth to arrive at a final design. Roofers, tile/paint crew, etc. were all top notch. Overall a great experience. This was a high anxiety experience going in and Vic was professional and kept things moving very quickly and well ahead of schedule.- Anthony D.

Major Homes is an A-list company that will give you individualized attention and their reputation precedes them in the community. If you are open minded to work with them, they will “go-the-extra-mile” to work with you. Regrettably, certain limitations on our part precluded us from proceeding with Major at this time. AKamco Roofing IncI found Kamco from Google search, it had many great reviews there. I called for free estimate. Mr. Darius came on time. Mr. Darius is well spoken and very knowledgeable about roof issues, he inspected my entire roof and showed me the photos he took, and gave me several options. He said my roof and skylight was not that bad, but I decided to replace the entire flat roof and skylight. His free estimates have been fair and honest. I decided to go with Kamco, Nikki in the office sent me the detailed proposal, really professional. There was some delay because of the skylight, but they communicated this and did their best to accommodate. All workers were professional and easy to work with. They were neat and there was no mess to clean up. They arrived on time, in the morning and were finished by afternoon. It was great working with Kamco, They call you back or text, email you promptly whenever I had a question. Darius, his father, his brother and Nikki in the office are great. AFlying Colors Roofing and PaintersSteven and team did an outstanding job turning our home from one with chipped paint from multiple terrible painting jobs and gapping holes from woodpeckers to looking like a brand new home! The team replaced all damaged shingles, removed an old door and added shingles in its place to match the rest of the house, sanded down the old paint (over multiple days) and then painted beautifully. They also took some extra days to remove old wallpaper up our stairs and in our hallways, repaired the drywall and repainted. Every day the team was onsite and ready to work at the time we were told (and usually even early) and the project was wrapped up exactly when we were told, and surpassed all of our expectations. We will definitely be recommending Flying Colors to anyone and everyone in the future.- Matthew M.

AWalker Painting did a fantastic job. one of the BEST experiences we've had with a contractor. They were punctual from day one. First, they actually showed up for an estimate and then sent the estimate within 24 hours. Their contract was clear. They started the project a day early. Showed up every single day on time. they cleaned up every day. They brought their own porta potty. we appreciated that since other companies we've hired for outdoor projects never have. Overall, Sal was fantastic. I would hire Walker Painting again and have recommended Walker to friends. Professional, timely, honest - all the things you wish anyone you hire would be. Walker Painting treated our project like it was important to them. With so many other contractors don't bother to call or send estimates or belittle your project once you've paid a deposit, Walker Painting was a breath of fresh air!
