Highly recommend Peterson. Donnie and Glen are very experienced, flexible and pleasant. My House had potential but was a bit of a handyman special. I did as much as I could myself, and Im so happy to have found this company to resolve the issues I wasn't skilled enough to complete so we could begin enjoying the house sooner than later!

    The Renaissance of New Paltz

Well now they are finishing my home in Kingston and its coming along like a masterpiece! I mean WOW! I don't think there is anything like it anywhere in the world and I mean that. They said they would put it up on their website when its finished. (about 6 weeks)

so its going great, and as for details there are way to many, but they're all good

As for the Don'ts - Justtell them what you THINK you want, then let them design it and let them go!!!

let them design it for you, they don't charge you for it,they are truly professionals with very tasteful visions, they're artisans.

    go to their store, see for yourself and have an amazingcoffee that's free too :}

    Artisan General Contractors Inc.
I have to say that my experience with Artisan was by far on my top 3 favorite contractors to work with. I have dealt with my share of them and Benny the owner was really refreshing because of his honesty in pricing and how he treated me and my wife. Honestly we dont know what we would have done without him and his crew. Benny is really so great at what he does you can tell by the work that he did on my home. He understands the job extremely well and best of all, he genuinely loves what he does.  His crew is great as well, very respectful team. We highly recommend these guys!

    Explicit Exteriors

Work started as promised and demolition went OK. From that point on, we were disappointed with the quality of the work performed. The main issue is that the work was done in the wrong order and that care was not taken to ensure that damage to new bathroom fixtures was not caused due to carelessness.

New Terastone countertop w/sinks is badly scratched because it was never covered. Workmen threw tools, paint cans, fans, etc,.on it while working. Same with the top of the toilet seat--very badly scratched--never covered as work proceeded.

New tub has chips in the bottom and a large chip on top of the side panel. Workmen placed tools and a huge shop vac in it and also stood in it and placed tools in it without covering it while tiling and plumbing was being done.

Numerous holes were made in the walls and ceilings which then had to be patched because they were not in the right places. The holes were poorly spackled and are lumpy, pitted and altogether unacceptable. Seams are unsightly and poorly taped and spackled.

Tiling is uneven on the floor even though a subfloor was put down.

New plugs above the vanity were installed and they are crooked and uneven

Light fixtures were installed before spackling and painting was finished. There are paint spots on the fixtures and visible paint brush marks around the lights which do not blend into the painted walls.

Walls were spackled, sanded and painted after cabinets and other fixtures went in. Nothing was ever covered so there was dust and paint on and in all the new cabinets.

The tiles in the shower area are not flat and the grout appears to be several different colors which is due either to poor mixing or possibly to patching after the whole thing was done. We are so upset with this work that we must bring in a professional to remove all the grout and have it replaced. The work is particularly unacceptable where the tiles meet the ceiling and we are unsure exactly how this can be corrected.

Nail holes in moldings were not filled and sanded before painting. Also existing wooden entry and closet doors were badly scraped and dented and were poorly repaired.

In general, painting and finishing touches were poorly executed. Spackle dust and lint from rollers is stuck all over the walls and ceiling. Lines between the white moldings and colored walls are not at all straight and the finish on the walls is uneven due to poor spackling and sanding. Paint was splattered on every surface. Apparently this company doesn't own any drop cloths or painter's tape.

Damage was done to a bedroom wall on the other side of the bathroom and was not repaired satisfactorily. We were told that the whole wall would be repainted. This was not done.

There are holes in the walls above the linen cabinet and in the closet that were never repaired.

Although some debris was removed, quite a bit was left in our garage for our own disposal.

We were promised that Explicit Exteriors would do everything we wanted to "make us happy". When it became apparent that the remaining work could not be done to our satisfaction, Explicit Exteriors abandoned this job. We were told that Jason would be in touch with us, but we never heard from him again. Although Jason did not ask us for the remainder of the money we owed upon completion (we paid the 1st two installments amounting to $9,000),we will need to spend more than the remaining amount to address numerous repair issues.

Overall, we are disappointed and angry that our new bathroom turned out so badly and that there are things that cannot be fixed, such as the scratches to the vanity top that cost over $2,500 and nicks in the brand new tub. We purchased a new toilet seat and have hired another contractor to come in and repair a great deal of the other work they did so poorly.

Although Jason assured us that they did bathroom renovations all the time, it was a huge mistake hiring Explicit Exteriors to do this job. We would never recommend them to another person who wants a nice renovation job done. They may do a reasonable job inspecting your roof for $99.00 but don't let them in your house!

It went amazingly well!!! Frustrated with the ploys today's contractors, I made a last-ditch effort to find someone to install our glass tile backsplash without all the nonsense, waisted time, poor workmanship, and inflated prices. I called Don on a Saturday morning, and he responded within a couple of hours. He was courteous and professional by phone, and so my wife and I set up an estimate shortly thereafter.
The morning of the estimate my wife and I jokingly placed bets on whether Don would cancel at the last second or never show-up...Not only were we both wrong, he actually showed up about 5 minutes earlier than scheduled. Once again, he was very professional, courteous, and pleasant to interact with. We were looking for a rough estimate on his cost for labor because we had a FIXED budget for the project. He had already explained by phone that he's paid an hourly rate, and we had been told to never pay someone by the hour for any project. Don estimated the project cost to be a little higher than we were anticipating, but following my gut, I hired and booked him on the spot.
He confirmed our agreed start date, started on this date, and within 3 days the project was complete. Don shows up on time and leaves on time. I have been in the trades all my life (I actually worked my way through all of my schooling this way), and I am picky. Don's workmanship is excellent. He's skilled, clean, trust worthy, and fast.
After a long day at work yesterday, my wife happily calls me to inform me that the project was complete and looked fantastic. She informed me that Don left his bill and the price was right on budget!
Not only will I not hesitate to call Don for future projects but I will also recommend him to anyone in need of his services!!!
This is a bill we will GLADLY pay!
    Thank you, Don.

Ross was our contractor.  When we were taking bids for the job we felt he gave the best estimate for the work to be performed and had the best handle on what we wanted to do, so out of the 5 bids we got we selected his.  The work proceeded slowly due to scheduling conflicts Ross had with another job, what probably could have been done in a month or two took several months.  BUT - I must stress that we were not in a hurry and had communicated as much to Ross, so initially the the time delay was not a problem, but as we found out it was going to be the source of a large problem later on.  Later on it did become more of an issue as the work approached completion it took longer to get errors fixed.  We'd show up to the house expecting something had been corrected only to find nobody had been to the house at all in the span of several weeks.  Finally, when the job was done we went to check it out.  The kitchen was great, it looked fantastic.  The bathroom, however, was a completely different story.  We had a tile tub/shower wall and a tile floor as part of the job.  The tiles had been cut poorly.  They were misaligned and crooked in places, corners and lines weren't straight.  The grout had gaps in it.  The tiles were uneven in height and sticking out in places.  This was a shock compared to the work in the kitchen, it was completely unprofessional and shoddily done.  When we did the walkthrough with Ross we basically said we're not paying for the work, and that's what happened.  We did not pay for the work done, HOWEVER, we had paid for and purchased all of the materials for the job ourselves so now we were out thousands of dollars in materials that would need to be removed to have the job re-done.  We stated we would be glad to hire him to re-do the job sans materials costs.  We also stated at a bare minimum he needed to come back and repair the holes in the grout in the interim.  He said he'd come by in a few weeks to look at what needed to be done, and that was the last time we heard from him.  He refuses to return calls or emails and now we're stuck with a bathroom that's terribly done.  It's very unfortunate because we liked what he did in the kitchen and the work was done well, but where the failing grades are in this review are the fact that the bathroom was unacceptable and he basically abandoned the job at this point.
