It went well. Chris showed up on time and got right to work. He took photographs of the inside of the chimney / pipes and explained what he had done and issues to keep an eye on in the future. He answered my questions competently and I was satisfied with the service.

We burned about 60 fires last year. No draft issues at all. No smoke issues. It was safe and easy. He also told me we didn't need to clean our chimney every year, based on our usage. Bill is like the big brother I always wanted. Knowledgable, experienced and genuinely helpful. His wife makes all the appointments. I'm glad I listened to her and brought Bill in. Can't wait to see him again. Good luck out there!

We were new home owners and so excited to finally use our fireplace. We bought a groupon for a chimney sweep for our new fireplace.
This was our first mistake.  Rather than use angle's list we booked a random service with a random chimney sweep, and we paid for it. BIG TIME.
they arrived, and "swept our chimney"
they told us our chimney caps were old and needed to be replaced, so we trusted them.  they installed 2 caps.  even from looking at them, they were crooked.  They didn't seem like they were properly installed.
They never discussed price, which of course was another mistake of ours, not asking upfront.
upon completion of the job, they handed us a $500 bill.  They even forgot to credit us the amount we paid for the groupon.
We then had tremendous problems with our fireplace all of last winter.  Smoke filled the room every time we lit a fire.  So much so, we stopped using our fireplace over the bitter cold winter.
This summer we had our roof replaced.  We also needed the facade of the chimney fixed.  When we called another chimney company to come out and give us a quote, they told us the caps that were on the chimney were choking our chimney and causing the smoke problem.  We had a custom cap built (as they don't make caps the size we needed)  and since then our chimney has been working great.
When this year's cleaning took place the guy said the chimney clearly hadn't been swept in years.  Meaning that Alpine did not properly sweep the chimney last year, and then upsold us on chimney caps we didn't need.
I've been trying to speak to the manager for months and he won't return my phone call.  All we want is a refund.
I highly advise staying away from this company.

We bought our house knowing we needed to replace the roof. And Hastings Roofing quoted us a reasonable price for the work.  Turned out we had 4 layers on the roof, so they took a few extra days, at no additional charge to finish the job.  The workers were pleasant and professional. I highly recommend them.

We recently purchased our house and there was an issue with a leak that wasn't repaired correctly after our inspection by the previous owner.  Marcellino was so easy to communicate and came out right away to give us an estimate.  He was thorough and explained in detail what his company would do to repair the problem and stuck to the estimate he provided.  He also looked at repairing our front and back porch roof. He told us we could hold off on that until the Spring and we really appreciated that honesty. We will definitely be hiring him again when we it's time to replace them.  His prices are very fair and the quality of the work is top notch.  His positive attitude and professionalism set him apart from the other roofers we contacted and we are looking forward to working with him again.

The good: Fluetech has been really responsive when I've had issues with my chimneys since they completed their work.  For example, a heavy rainstorm led to some leaking in my chimney.  They came out a few days later and cleaned out my whole fireplace and re-sealed the chimney and put on a bigger cap.

In addition, they are providing me with a complimentary smoke guard due to the smoke issues I've had with my fireplace.

    The not so good:
When the worker completed the initial job he said "you're going to have a smoke filled house when you have fires in the fireplace because your chimney is so short." Gee--thank you for advising me of that AFTER I invested so much money in my chimney/fireplace. I felt duped. And mad at myself for spending so much money on the darned chimneys.  And in fact, fires in the fireplace do often cause lots of smoke. To their credit, fluetech did give me some pointers to reduce the smokiness, which usually help.  In addition, as noted above, they have agreed to provide a complimentary smoke guard to help alleviate the problem.

Overall, I am happy with Fluetech's responsiveness and professionalism.  If I had to do it all over, though, I might just seal up my chimney and not invest so much money in it.

If this company comes out and tells you that your liner is falling apart and that you're in danger of blow-back, politely thank them and call for a second opinion. Affordable Chimney opened up the little trap door where debris falls and told me that all the debris was a sure indication that my liner was crumbling. But this little trap door is NOT how you diagnose a liner problem. Mr Chimney (who I called, thank goodness, for a second opinion) actually removed the silver tube that connects to the boiler, and with a light and a mirror showed me that my liner is actually brand new. In great condition. Maybe needs to be cleaned next year, but certainly not dangerous. Be careful with this deal...

Tim Kelly responded quickly and gave a professional estimate.  Our chimney was leaking inside the flu during rains.  His men appeared knowledgeable, and worked efficiently.  After the job there was still some water leaking after a rain; he responded quickly and sent a man out twice; they caulked a seam in the chimney cap.  After three months, so far so good.
My only gripe is not being warned about the mess the concrete dust makes when they grind it out of the seams; he told us to close the windows, but it formed a fine patina of powder on our outdoor upholstered furniture (on a different side from the chimney) which took quite a bit of work to clean.  His men cleaned up superficially, using a leaf blower which just redistributed the dust, sprayed some water on the side of the house, etc., but there was a lot left to do.
Overall, however, I would use him again.

UPDATE:  I hate to give a bad review, but Tim has worked hard to earn it.  The chimney continued to leak during heavy rains.  Tim said "unfortunately you are one of the 1% who are going to need a chimney liner" (which he does not install).  I called two chimney experts, highly rated on Angie's list, and both said I did not need a liner, a liner is not for water infiltration.  I explained this to Tim and he agreed to come back and re-waterproof the bricks, as recommended by one of the chimney people.   Never showed.  I've been chasing him for over a year -- each time I have to go over the story, he promises to come that week, and then nothing. I would have understood if he had tried to remedy the situation as he had promised, even if he couldn't solve it.   He clearly does not care about customer satisfaction, and does not understand chimney water issues.  This is too bad because the actual masonry work (the collar and pointing) looks competently done.

Mr Chimney promptly returned calls for estimate & estimate was done in timely manner. The professionals who came were friendly & provided written estimate on the spot. A time was set for the removal but then Mr. Chimney called asking if they could re-schedule. It was explained to them that this would be inconvenience to homeowner who had coordinated this w/ oil to gas conversion; Mr. Chimney then called back & agreed to perform removal on original date. The workmen arrived a little late on that day but got to work quickly once they did arrive. Homeowner had concern because pipes that were covered w/ asbestos disappeared into stuccoed ceiling & had been assured by Mr. Chimney that ceiling would be opened up if asbestos continued under ceiling. After job was completed homeowner was told that asbestos didn't continue under ceiling so there was no need to open up ceiling; homeowner, of course, had not been present during removal & so had to take their word about this.  At any rate, the job appears to be well-done & was completed within 4 to 5 hours. The premises were left clean w/ no debris. Air testing was done by separate company but report has not yet been received by homeowner.

Very simple and pleasant transaction. Professional and polite service, took my order details over the phone and 2 nice young guys came to deliver. Took a few days but the wood is good quality, the charcoal is great and they did a nice clean job stacking.
I'll be calling again as soon as i run low on this batch!
