    Places Prepared LLC
Places Prepared was the general contractor for several projects, which included demolishing and installing new concrete steps and a walkway, replacing a 30+ year old roof, chimney repair, and installing a basement drainage system. This was a lot of work that needed to be initiated and monitored, and I understood that Places Prepared had a lot of other clients, but I always felt like I was given full attention throughout the whole process. From the initial planning stages to the finished products, I was thoroughly pleased with the communication, professionalism, clarity, and courteous manner. What also stood out to me was their willingness to go the extra mile to make sure I was fully satisfied, even to this day they reach out to make sure I am still happy. One of the values listed on their website is as follows: "Here at Places Prepared, we value people. We listen and we care. Clients are people first, and clients second. That perspective shapes our work." Usually, companies will post cliche statements to get you to do business with them, but I can never attribute that to Places Prepared. They treated me as a human being, not financial opportunity, and they delivered on the work promised and more.

    Westbrook Contracting, LLC
Excellent work, came when they said, never left the project to work on another project. Workers were very pleasant and accommodating. Would.not hesitate to use again. In fact we kept adding to this project because we were very pleased with work. Dave was in top of all the details and always communicated.

    Stonegate Construction Co Inc
I hired Stonegate to totally redo a bad stucco job by a different contractor. My stucco around the garage had cracks and blotches from where the other contractor did sloppy work. He took the time to repair any cracks that developed, evened out the mounds of concrete from other contractor and re-stuccoed the whole wall and inside walls to look brand new. Would highly recommend him. His workers are professional, pleasant, helpful and really take care to make sure the job is done right.

    Doctor Pavers
All went very well throughout. As soon I called Roberto, he came to my place, checked the work to be done, and provided options to choose from. I chose the option I was interested in and he reverted back to me the very same day with estimates. Once I signed off for the project, he scheduled the work and dispatched to my place very professional workers. The work was carried out to my utmost satisfaction. Further, of all contractors I dealt with in the past, Alberto is the only one who came back to my place (after the work was performed), checked on the quality of work of his crew, and asked them to fix anything that needs to be. The project was the second one carried out by Dr. Pavers and all were performed with extraordinary professionalism. I plan to use him for any masonry work that I will be doing in the future.

    Buena Vista Home Improvements
After much research for a contractor, we decided to hire Buena Vista Home Improvements for our project. From receiving the initial estimate to, obtaining permits to completion of the project, Javier and his team were professional and a pleasure to work with. We hired Buena Vista to complete a full kitchen remodel which included the removal of two walls, removal of old floors and installation of hardwood, close up of door to backyard, new plumbing, electrical (outlets, recessed and pendant lighting), cabinets, new island, countertops, backsplash and relocation of heating/AC vents. We also had a new sliding door installed to the backyard from our dining room where a window existed, new entry door from the dining room to the attached garage which required a concrete step down to the garage, a new door from the garage to the backyard, installation of a 12x23 pressure treated wood deck and lighting, and refinishing of all floors on the first level which included 3 bedrooms, closets, living room, dining room and kitchen. Also prior to the start of the work, the team installed a floor to sealing barrier wall which kept the remainder of the house very clean. With the satisfaction and quality of work we had seen so far, we also asked Buena Vista to replace our front door which included priming, painting, sealing, trim and a new glass storm door. As this was a large project for us and we were waiting for completion of the work to finally move into the house, Javier worked with us to ensure we were able to move in by our expected date. Completion of the project took approximately 4-5 weeks. Throughout the project, Javier always kept constant communication with us and was always available to answer any questions or concerns that may have come up. We were quite pleased with the overall work and definitely would hire Buena Vista in the future. Thank you for all your hard work.

    Doctor Pavers
My experience with Dr. Pavers has been excellent. We had several renovations to be done and it's frustrating when contractors don't follow-up after coming to the home. Robert came out, assessed the job, and we had a quote in two days. His team is hardworking and courteous. When we had a minor issue with the appearance of a repair, he immediately fixed it - no questions asked. We have other masonry work to be done. When the time comes, Dr. Pavers will be the company to provide the remedy.

    Rock Solid General Contractors Corp
James does business they way it should be done. Excellent service. He went above and beyond the initial scope of the job. He ran into some obstacles and addressed them without raising the price. It is hard to find people like this. Look no further! Use Rock Solid!

    Michael Rivera
Based on the stellar reviews in Angie's List, we hired Michael Rivera to remodel our small 2nd floor bathroom. We were extremely disappointed with the outcome. The estimated time was 3 weeks; the actual time was over 7 weeks. The estimated cost was $14,000, but the actual cost was $18,000 due to structural problems with the shower floor and some of the pipes. In addition to the 18,000 paid to Michael Rivera, $3700 was paid to the plumber to disconnect the old fixtures, connect the new fixtures, and perform the additional plumbing work.

    We are dissatisfied with:

      • Tile setting- The tiles are not flat on the wall. He did reset some of the tiles, but there are many more that stick out.
      • Misaligned tile installation - Tiles do not follow the subway brick pattern. There are many rows that are not aligned correctly and stray from the brick pattern. In addition the floor tiles in the shower are not squared with the walls.
      • The unfinished appearance of the joints between the walls and the floor.

The contractor's lack of experience in fixture selection. The hand held shower could not be installed as planned and an alternate had to be selected.
      • The many problems with the shower door installation and the alternatives that were proposed by the contractor
      • The contractor's negative reaction when we pointed out the problems and his inability to own up to his mistakes.
Mr. Rivera's work lacked the expertise that he purported to have. His negative behavior to our complaints lacked professionalism. After the toilet was installed, the shower door did not clear the toilet and could not be closed. His suggestions were to get a new toilet or use a shower curtain instead of the door. A new toilet would mean purchasing the toilet, having the plumber disconnect and connect it, all at our expense. The shower curtain suggestion was too ludicrous to even entertain. He finally resolved the problem by moving the door an inch into the shower, but the door is not level.

Prior to and during the job, we were very accommodating to his requirements - completely clearing out the bedroom for a work area, clearing the garage as a storage area, not questioning or monitoring his work progress, paying the invoices completely when they were given to us.

On the positive side, Mr. Rivera did come everyday for the entire time. He was always punctual, working full days for the duration of the project.

REBUTTAL TO PROVIDER RESPONSE: Michael Rivera started on 12/29/15 and the last day he worked on the bathroom was 2/8/16. This was more than 5 weeks. The cost of the additional toilet I bought for the 1st floor half bath was $750 at Best Plumbing. Mr. Rivera insisted on purchasing all the fixtures himself. He billed $866 for the toilet but he stated in his comments that the toilet cost $1045 which is the list price. I paid Mr. Rivera $17,878 for the bathroom remodeling which did not include the basement door. I paid Mr. Rivera $900 in cash for the basement door completely separate from the bathroom. In addition, I paid the plumber $3700 for the fixture disconnects, connects, and plumbing work. Before the job started, I mentioned to Mr. Rivera that we used the same plumber. When the job started, I saw there was some friction between Mr. Rivera and the plumber, so I repeatedly told Mr. Rivera to choose whichever plumber he wanted to work with. He insisted that the plumber we used was the most capable. The additional tiles that had to be replaced were due to improper installation by Mr. Rivera so why should we have paid extra? The tiles stuck out and did not lay flat on the wall. The shower door is not level and when we brought this to his attention, he replied that nothing in the house is level which is completely untrue. A truly skilled craftsman would take ownership of his work and remedy without question any problems with his work. Unfortunately the expert described in all the other reviews was not the one who remodeled our bathroom.

    Precision Painting Plus
We recently had our bow windows replaced (5 panels), and the window frames were unfinished wood. Precision Painting Plus was running a promotion on Angie's List for $299 for an 8-hour day of painting, so we figured it would be perfect to have them paint our new bow windows, as well as the baseboards and windows in the master bedroom. There were no hassles setting up the appointment, and the painter arrived on-time and was very friendly. He did a great job, and we are very pleased with the results.

    Rolling Stone Masonry Ltd
The project went smoothly from quote to project completion. I could not have asked for it to have gone better! I really appreciated that Charlie worked with my small budget. Charlie and the Rolling Stone Masonry team were professional, friendly and punctual. The work is beautiful and such an improvement from what it looked like before. They created a lovely design on my stone walkway. There were additional things they noticed as they were repairing some loose steps and they repaired them at no additional charge. That was really nice of Rolling Stone Masonry.
I would definitely recommend Rolling Stone Masonry and will hire them again to do masonry work.
