House Painting reviews in Hartsdale

We recently had our bow windows replaced (5 panels), and the window frames were unfinished wood. Precision Painting Plus was running a promotion on Angie's List for $299 for an 8-hour day of painting, so we figured it would be perfect to have them paint our new bow windows, as well as the baseboards and windows in the master bedroom. There were no hassles setting up the appointment, and the painter arrived on-time and was very friendly. He did a great job, and we are very pleased with the results.

Got quotes from at least six different paints for an entire house in Hartsdale, NY.  Rafael (one of the owners) was extremely professional and by far the most impressive.  He was available right away for an estimate and very responsive to a variety of emails I wrote with questions and possibly changing the scope of the project (including some drywall work to box in an existing fireplace).  We have not done the work yet, mainly due to some other damage that was discovered that needs to be repaired before we can paint, but would use Palette Pro in a heartbeat and was impressed enough to merit a review.

In 20 years of being homeowner this is the first company we truly thought were professional in all aspects of their painting business.  They communicated well - they were reachable and available at all times via email, cell phone text and phone calls (we all know those who don't have working cell phones, who don't answer calls during the day, who don't show up and can't be reached so these are huge factors for us!!); great with paperwork.  Staff were skilled, respectful, punctual and pleasant; work was super-fast and detailed, they finished as they predicted.  Our rep Johnn, was perhaps not the most articulate but definitely knows his stuff, we are glad to have followed his suggestions and went ahead with particular colors that turned out to be the best we've ever seen on our home.  The estimate may give you the urge to perhaps get a lower quote elsewhere at first but at the end of the day, if you want good quality work done in your beloved home, use this company then you will feel like your money was well spent; besides you should get a discount for being Angies members.

It wasn't a big job but Jay gave it the importance of a major job anyway. He was punctual and gave us a very clear itemized estimate of the job to be done. We then made many changes to the items on the proposal which he incorporated very quickly. The job was done on time and his workmen were also very very courteous, doing little 'extras' that were not in the original proposal. Jay himself was great to work with. Although I never met him myself, my father was home and had many interactions with Jay. There was never any miscommunication or misunderstanding. The work done was a high quality and Jay himself came to inspect the job once it was completed. There was no 'spilling' or 'spotting' of paint all over the place and they cleaned up after themselves very well. I would definitely work with Jay and J&S again.

I had water damage from a leak upstairs that severely damaged the ceilings in both my dining room and kitchen.  Genesis arrived promptly and plastered the damage both to the ceilings and to a wall that I had not noticed was damaged.  They were so professional and polite.  They covered all of my furniture to keep any plaster from falling on it.  They were very neat.   I wanted to give them a gratuity, but they left too quickly.  If you are reading this Genesis, I am sorry!  I only wish that I could give Genesis an A+!  He was so fair and courteous.  I highly recommend him and his crew to anyone that requires painting and plastering.

They spent a full two weeks stripping and prepping and I was surprised at the thoroughness of the work.  They removed downspouts & such and did a beautiful prep job throughout.  The painting seemed to go on forever but we were repeatedly delayed due to rain and they would wait two days for everything to be thoroughly dry before continuing - annoying that it took so long but it was the right thing to do so in retrospect it was appreciated.
The cost was reasonable but I decline to share it.
All in all, very satisfied customers.

I was so happy with our porch when it was first built - the woodwork and details looked wonderful.  But a few months later it was clear that the work done was of poor quality.  Less than 6 months after the porch was finished, we could no longer open our porch doors (oh, you wanted to go into the porch?).  Over time, we found out what was painted over was a cobbled together mess of small pieces of wood that were not properly treated to be outdoors.  Since the wood was not properly sealed, moisture has gotten into the wood and caused it to expand.  All of the seams in every piece of wood shows through and looks like a kindergartner put it together.  Furthermore, the build team did not pay attention to the wood they were putting up and so the wood manufacturers name shows through.
I thought these issues were no problem since Erick guaranteed our porch for a year (and this was only 5 months in).  I asked Erick to come over and take a look, which he did.  He promised to come back and have his team repair the issues the next week.  I never heard back from him again.  After several months of unanswered emails and phone calls, I have given up and will hire another contractor to fix this mess.  I felt compelled to update my review after all of these issues.

The service provider cannot do the work for 2 1/2 months. He was polite and professional. He called and had a cancellation so came earlier. His workers did an excellent job painting. However after the work was done we noticed that most of the screws in the shutters were missing and in one case they used a nail to anchor the shutter. Thank goodness we didn't have a bad storm because I am sure they would have come off.
The other issue was the price, I was given a estimate for the work which showed a total cost of $2,765.00, which I accepted. I assumed that the total cost of the job was that figure. I had already paid $1695.00 for the big deal offer directly to Angie's List so I figured I only owed the difference. This was not the case as he claimed that the total cost on the estimate was in addition to the amount already paid. I feel that this was a very shady way to do business and would not recommend using him without full disclosure upfront.

We hired Prime to screen in our porch.  Once we agreed on an estimate and what was going to be done, Prime came to start the job.  They finished demolishing the existing porch to put in a screen porch and began to build the doors.  We noticed right away that the doors were built too small - 30" instead of the agreed 36" - but were told that was how it had to be.  Several workers came to the site but they had not been briefed on what they were doing, so I had to make a drawing for each to explain what needed to be done.  Prime then asked us if they could work through the weekend, and could we arrange for someone to paint the porch as well over the weekend.  We cancelled our weekend plans and arranged a painter to help, and they never showed up.  Worse, when I called to ask where they were, they asked for more money.  3 days later they still had not shown up.  So here we were with small children, a dangerous porch and Prime holding us hostage for more money.
After seeing the mismanagement of the beginning of the project, we decided to cut our losses, fire Prime and look for someone else to complete the work.

Very happy with the work. It was a very rainy and humid 2 days they were inside, and a few bubbles showed up after (as happens in such high humidity) and thay were very happy to come out the very next day and fix the few problems. peter was vey helpful with the overall job but he was willing to give me suggestions for the exterior project that would not have benefited his company had i gone that way (i didn't i painted instead of replaced) but i appreciated his honest advice.
