Does a Painting Estimate Really Matter?

Interior Painting reviews in Hampton Bays

I called Matthew based on his numerous positive reviews and after meeting him, I knew he was the one to hire. He is down to earth, realistic, listened to what I wanted and offered his own suggestions based on his experience. He gutted our very small bathroom down to the studs. He removed the tub and installed a walk in shower with an awesome glass shower door resembling a barn door, installed subway tile with a border as well as a safety grab bar, new toilet, vanity, mosaic floor, added 2 high hat lights as well as a very quiet new fan, new door, molding, and painted. When they tore the walls down in the shower, there were no shut off valves for the water, which Matthews plumber discussion he just did the right thing. This is a big deal for me as in our own home, we had issues where short cuts were taken or things just were not done correctly...not the case for Matthew. I was not on site during most of this work and had no concerns whatsoever. Matthew kept me in the loop, sent me pictures, and I relied on his expertise for assistance in decision making. Matthew and his team are professional, trustworthy, meticulous in their work and clean up, and really nice guys. This job was also not an easy work site...second floor of a co-op (no elevator) in a very small apartment. They made it work and I know it was not easy. I truly appreciate their hard work. Our bathroom transformation is absolutely is bright, seems bigger, and is safe for us. It looks like something out of a magazine. Thank you Matthew and your team! We plan to have Matthew and his team back to replace the flooring in the rest of the apartment and update our very small kitchen.

Liam and his team are very professional, from start to finish the project was expertly managed. The workmanship is impeccable and our fixer upper now has two beautiful bathrooms and finishing details that make the house a home. The project house is a significant distance from our year round residence and Liam made the process easy by painstaking walking us thru the process, coordinating deliveries and working with vendors. His attention to detail was refreshing. Further, every time I showed up at the house to drop off anything, he had his crew greet me and carry everything from my car into the house. I highly recommend him and expect to use him in phase 2 of the renovation project.

Shawn and his team did an amazing job fixing up our basement that previously looked like a dungeon ? you know what I mean, dark and dreary with that mildewy smell and these creepy holes that went into various crawl space areas underneath our house.  Since we bought this home several months ago, we?ve had some minor flooding in one corner of the basement, which prompted us to focus on straightening out this area.  So we hired J and S Restorations to find the leaking and make the basement more welcoming.
Shawn and his guys took out all of the old shelving and the work-bench area, and they found a huge hole in our foundation, obviously and happily explaining the water breach.  They sealed the hole right up, and then fixed other various cracks and small holes in the floor and foundation walls.  They put white dry lock on the walls, which took the damp mildew smell away, and also significantly brightened up the basement walls.  And the floor was transformed with the gray patio paint that they applied. As for the creepy holes into the crawl space, Shawn made wood covers that are easy to take down if necessary.  What a difference!  We couldn?t be happier!
Shawn?s team did quality work.  He is a real pro.  We appreciate that he kept us informed along the way, and we felt well taken care of.  Shawn is personable, knowledgeable, and reliable.  We wouldn?t hesitate to recommend Shawn and his company, J and S Restorations to anyone.  We were so impressed that we asked Shawn to undertake replacing all of the windows in our home.  He instills a lot of confidence.

, Shawn and his guys did an amazing job painting and doing custom work on the inside of our house. My husband and I recently bought this house, which is old and needs a lot of love and attention. We knew that painting the inside of our house would require tremendous attention to detail and meticulous care. We needed someone who would not rush through the job since there was an extraordinary amount of prep work -- lots and lots of cracks, nail holes, wallpaper removal, etc.
Shawn carefully reviewed what needed to be done, and he gave us a detailed quote. We appreciated that he didn?t try to broaden the scope of work, which is easy to do in an old house. Instead, after listening to our plans for the house, Shawn suggested that we put off certain aspects of the job until later stages, thinking it was a waste of our money. For example, he questioned our interest in removing wallpaper in our bathroom now, if we were planning a renovation of that bathroom next year. We really appreciated his thoughtfulness in how we were spending money. Impressive. Shawn made every-single aspect of working together easy.  He is extremely responsive, calling or texting me to keep us up-to-date on the project, and responding to my endless questions.  When he found a problem, like ?we took out the cabinets that you wanted removed, and we found that there?s no molding.  Do you want us to put molding in?  It should cost about $___.?  In an old house, there are lots of surprises, and Shawn kept us informed, and he provided us with thoughtful solutions.  Although Shawn didn?t expand the scope of work, my husband and I did. Often times he didn?t even charge us.  Who does that? And when the work required someone else to handle it, like an electrician, Shawn always knew of someone capable and professional to help us. He made all of the introductions and coordinated the efforts. We were delighted with everyone he suggested. I told Shawn that working with him is like going to the spa! He handled our every need. Shawn is hardworking, dependable, meticulous, responsive and a great problem solver. We will continue to work with Shawn, and we highly recommend him.

    Decks by Decker Home Improvements
I have worked with many contractors over the years, some good and some bad but I can honestly say that Sean was a pleasure to work with. He always went out of his way to make sure I was satisfied with the work he wasdoing. His prices were fair and very competitive, sometimes doing extra and paying close attention to detail which is hard to find in a contractor, most just want to get in and get out.
Professionalism means a lot when dealing with people and the way people address you or answer their phone or respond to questions says a lot about how someone will be when you contract them and Sean was always very professional.
The project I had him working on was a kitchen and a bath remodel and he did a superb job. Hanging cabinets, repairing a wall and some siding, he laid a new tile floor and painted the interior of both the kitchen and bath. He also helped me permit  my deck by building a new set of stairs from scratch along with new supports. Their were many other things he did that are too numerous to go over here. I was out of town for most of the project and had him send me daily progress reports with pictures which he was always accommodating to. He finished on time and was always in communication.  At the end of the job I had him go over a few extra things that I couldn?t get to, without question he accommodated me so I was able to get the job done without coming back out to the house. When I was finally able to visit the house again, to my surprise, not only did he clean up his work but the entire site was
cleaned up and garage was left clean and organized something I never expected him to do.
Overall, when a person gives you a hard time ? not professional when they answer the phone, can?t get their bids in on time, doesn?t return your phone calls ? just in the bidding process then they are certainly going to be a problem when they get the job. Sean on the other hand was the exact opposite of this!!!
I would highly recommend him for any project just on these qualifications alone. Contractors like this are hard to find and when you find them you should keep their number as I keep Sean?s number on speed dial.

Shawn and Matt did a great job! The estimate came in promptly and they arrived on time to do the work. Shawn was very straight up in scoping out the work that needed to be done. The ceiling had a patch of peeled paint over an old leak that had been repaired. Another painter painted over it a year or two ago, but the paint peeled quickly. Shawn said he had not primed it properly. This crew pri Ed it properly so it should hold. They we're in and out of here in less than 3 hours and did a good job with covering furniture and cleaning up. I would use them again and have asked for a quote on exterior power washing. If they are competitive, I plan to use them.

Michael came when he promised and finished the job in one and a half days, sooner than expected.  He and his helper bought the paint and worked diligently to completion.  Their work was well done and they left the area clean after returning the furniture to their locations.  I plan to use him again in the future.

    Doctor Jones Painting
It went so well. I made one call and Mr. Kevin Jones of Dr. Jones Painting was very responsive and extremely professional. He returned my call shortly after I had called, and he was available to visit the house to do an estimate within a day or so. He explained what the job entailed and his price was fair for the work involved. I wasn't looking for the lowest price, I wanted quality work. But Mr Jones explained that he would match the price if a lower price was found from a licensed painter.
He was extremely professional in all interactions, the work was done neatly and the walls look beautiful. The walls were quite a mess under the peeling old wallpaper and they look perfectly smooth now.
I would absolutely use this provider again for other painting services, and would recommend his work without any hesitation.

    Spotless Painting & Drywall
I want to be fair about this but note that some of the behaviors I experienced were consistent with some of the previous reviews. I called Steve on short notice to have our family room with vaulted ceiling painted. His partner William was very quick in coming out to give an estimate which seemed a little high but not unexpected under the circumstances. Work was to begin two days later. I called William the evening of the estimate to confirm the job, and he said he would let Steve know and confirm availability of the crew, which Steve had previously told me would be availalble. I never heard back and called Steve the morning of the work to see whether they were coming or not. He apologized but said he had never heard from William that I wanted to go forward. These guys need to communicate with each other and with their customers. I was also going to have them powerwash my house, but now I've canceled both jobs.
