  • Due to unforeseen circumstances on my part, the job was not done.  But Brian at Affordable Solutions went miles out of  his way to survey the job on-site and quickly provided me with a reasonable estimate.  His solution to the problem was sensible, he was punctual, his estimate response was rapid.  Most importantly, he was courteous at all times, even when I unexpectedly had to cancel the job.  Based on his professionalism alone,  I would highly recommend Affordable Solutions.

  • Stan did an amazing job fitting the cabinet in against an existing stairwell. He saw my vision, offered excellent design ideas and executed to perfection. He used quality materials and his skill as a craftsman really shined through. He was punctual and realistic in his time and cost estimates. He was also a very capable communicator as much of our interaction was via email and text since I live out of state. I couldn't be happier with the result and will definitely use Stan again.

  • Mark Hoxie signed a contract  with us on 10/19/10 to prepare & paint the exterior of our house early Spring 2011.  We gave Mark Hoxie a check for deposit of $ 2775 and he cashed it on 10/28/10.    No work was done on our house by Hoxie's Painting through April - August 2011 despite our many many phone calls that we made to Mark Hoxie inquiring why work was not even initiated.  Mark Hoxie continually promised the work would be done.  On 8/24/13 Mark and Brian Hoxie "visited" our house and said work would begin immediately.  We were told that Brian Hoxie was the foreman for this job.  We made several more calls  saying that we wanted the job completed as promised.  No work began until 9/12/11 when we were away from our home!  House was power washed and left with paint all over - no clean up, wood damaged, caulking blown out around windows and other areas.  On our return we inquired when job would be completed as the weather was excellent for finishing the job.  9/26/11 phone call Mark Hoxie again promised to complete the job properly.  9/26/11 Brian Hoxie promised work would be done. 10/5/11 Brendan Hoxie called to say he would be completing the work.  10/9/11 Brendan Hoxie came to our house with no crew to do work and no paint and removed a ladder from our yard.  We made many more calls to Mark Hoxie through October saying that work was not done on our house according to our contract and that we have a signed contract with him to complete this job and we want it completed  He left our home in deplorable condition and he promised to do the job and was not doing so.  We have photos documenting the mess our home was left in.
    10/28/11 we sent Mark Hoxie a certified letter re their breach of contract.
    We attempted to resolve this problem and loss of our money and damage to our home through the Attorney General's Office and the BBB but did not receive any response from Mark Hoxie or other Hoxie's involved.
    We went through Syracuse Small Claims Court and on May 17, 2012 a judgement was enetered by the court In Favor of my husband And Against Mark Hoxie/Hoxie's Painting Co.Inc. Syracuse NY.  The Total Judgement was for $ 2795.
    Mark Hoxie did not appear for this court date and has not responded to this judgement and has not return

    ed our Deposit and has not responded to our letter requesting settlement of this issue by returning our $.
    Of course we had  great worry and upsetment over this whole incident.  Hoxie Painting and all involved took advantage of us and took our money.

  • The locksmith came and the first time he worked in my unit, he was very friendly and helpful.  The second time he seemed more brusque - perhaps harried - but he did exactly what I needed.  I had an appointment in the morning and the office called to ask me to change it as they were understaffed that day; that was a little inconvenient, but I very much appreciated the notification.  The woman in the office was lovely on the phone.

  • Terrible!!!!!! He didn't know what he was doing. He applied what I thought was a wax to my one-year old exotic wood floors. I said they didn't look good and his response was that they need another coat. After the second coat, I indicated they still looked awful and his response, "I've never done floors before." I told him to leave and he called a few days later to say that he was going to bring in someone who knew about floors to fix them. When they arrived, I questioned the gentlemen about his credentials. He gave me a long list, but he didn't know what he was doing either. They spent another full day applying more of the solution. When they were done, I said the floors still looked terrible as they had swirls marks everywhere. They said they needed to come back another day to buff, which they did, again spending another full day. I noticed now that this buffer was taking the paint off my brand new very costly floor grills and told them to pack up and get out. If it makes any sense, they did a poor job doing a poor job. There were the swirls everywhere, missed spots, puddle marks where they put too much solution, and subsequently flaking. Shaw had left a container with some remaining solution because I complained about all the missed spots where my original floor showed through. I might add that he took a satin finished floor and turned it into a high gloss floor. It continued to peel and mark and looked worse and worse so I began calling flooring companies to buff off the wax. At that time I learned that in fact the solution was polyurethane--not wax--and that it couldn't be buffed off. The floors now had to be sanded and refinished. In addition, my warranty would be voided because of what he did. I called the manufacturer of the solution to confirm this was the case and in fact it was. They indicated there was no product that could remove it. The floors needed to be sanded. Don't use this guy. He sounds very confident and knowledgeable, but he is not.

  • I was undergoing a complete renovation of a house built in 1896. The contractor I had been using for about a year was not showing up to do the work, was not listening to my concerns,was making alot of mistakes that subsequently had to be fixed, and was going way over budget. After barely showing up for about two weeks, I finally pressed for a drop dead date to finish the job.He refused to make a commitment so I fired him and his croney subs. I found Todd and his father and brought them on to finish. Everything in the house was a mess and much had be sorted out about how, why and what needed to be done.  Todd, who has a degree in architecture, walked through the house commenting that it was like a puzzle and he would just have to solve the puzzle. He and his father did a fabulous job. They were meticulous in their workmanship. Todd saw problems that needed to be addressed in advance. His father could do anything. I can't say enough good things about this team. They showed up every day ready to work. I now have a beautiful upscale B&B  amd am constrantly complimented about the fine workmanship. Had I stayed with the prevous contractor, (if I was finished yet), I know this would not be the case.

  • I tried to find bee keeper who can get them, but I couldn’t find anybody to take them, so unfortunately I called the exterminator.  They took care of them. This was 5 years ago, but I know the same people are still in the business.  I have recommended them to all possible people.  They were here no sooner I called them.  They were very responsive.  They also had explained the process to me.  At that time I was fanatic about the bees and at that point it wasn’t the money.  I couldn’t use the deck for anything.  In the wintertime, the bees felt the warmth from the shower air coming up then and it would come down to visit us.  Thank God, they took care of it.  I will use them in the future.

  • He and his son, John, work together and are general contractors. They also work separately. His wife is in real estate. He builds ducts and porches, plumbing and all. I use him whenever we need him. We have terribly hard water here; he had been replacing the element every 3 months. Our water heater burns out every 2 to 3 years, so he is usually the one who replaces that. He went picked up the water heater and brought it back to me. He then fixed the water heater. He charged at an hourly rate. I would rate him highly. I will use his service in the future.

  • I like them. They are very good and they do a good job. They tore up my cabinets when they put the ovens in and the guy hasn't come to repair them yet. The nice thing about them is that they are local and they deliver the stuff and service it. They have good people who do the service. They are not always the cheapest price, although there is not a big price difference. They are competitive. For the service and to get it in a reasonable amount of time, I think I am better off going with them than going with a big box. They are certainly better than going to a big box store. I tend to buy all my appliance from them. Their quality of work is good except for this thing with putting my oven in which wasn’t so good. I am not happy about it and it shouldn’t have happened. I will absolutely use them again.
