How to Make Kitchen Appliances Last Longer

Appliance Repair reviews in Hamburg

The technician came, examined the washer, and told us that repairs to the eight year-old machine would be prohibitively expensive. We paid only for the service call, and bought a new washer from Home Depot. On a side note, I have written and submitted this review at least three times, but Angie's List keeps hounding me to submit it again. I don't know what the problem is, but I'm happier with South Towns Appliance than with Angie's List.

Great, the repair person was knowledgeable and willing to explain the problem and repair needed. Despite my lack of an owners manual or registration number he was able to track down the appropriate part and worked around my schedule to complete the repair.

    Orville's Home Appliances
Received a call to let us know within a two hour timeframe when the appliances would be delivered. They were delivered within that timeframe and connected. The delivery persons were professional and courteous. I would purchase from this vendor again.

My 8-year old Kenmore refrigerator was struggling and not cooling the freezer properly. Sometimes the ice cream would be hard; other times it would be very soft. After going through the manual for the fridge, taking the back off and identifying the problem, I called All Appliance Parts and Service for service and told them we needed a new compressor. I found the part we needed at Sears website for $150 but it wasn't something we could install. I was asked to call back the following day with the model number of the unit and service was scheduled for Saturday. When I called back Friday with the model number for the fridge, I spoke with a gentleman who identified himself as the manager and I reinterated that we needed a new compressor. He confirmed the tech would be out on Saturday.
When the serviceman arrived on Saturday, he opened the door of the fridge, the compressor tried to come on but didn't (as it had been doing for a few weeks). He closed the door, said it needed a compressor and proceeded to tell me that the part would be $270. I told him I found it on the Sears website for $150 so he called his office who did inform him my information was correct. I then asked how long it would take him to fix it and he informed me that this was just a service call to identify the problem and that the actual repair would be scheduled for a future date. Then he charged me the $99.95 service call plus tax -- for telling me something I already knew!
Needless to say, I was very unhappy. I spoke with the person in charge of the service department who had taken my original phone call and requested a refund the service charge. After all, I had been very clear that I knew what the problem was -- I just needed a repair. After a lengthy and quot;discussion, and quot; she did rebate $50 of the service charge (but not the associated tax). I continue to maintain that they deliberately misled me so they could get the service call charge. Why didn't they say up front that the unit would not be repaired that day?

I can't recommend the Appliance Doctor highly enough. I had called 3 other repair services and was constantly waiting for return calls or service techs that never came. The Appliance Dr returned my call promptly, scheduled an appointment within 24 hours and was prompt, courteous and effective. Not only did he repair the damaged coil, he also had the foresight to recommend replacing the second coil to avoid a second service call which he felt would be needed in 6-12 months.
