    Raman, Dr. Dhawan
He has an office in Syracuse and in Gerneva. He just did my cervical surgery, I had one 9 years ago, too. So far so good. The office and staff is personable, clean and friendly. I will be back in 6 weeks.

Where most of the ancillary staff was fine, there were a few who left me wondering. It was like an assembly line and the paperwork was most important to be filled out and signed, without question. When I had a question, it had to wait and be answered the next day by me making another phone call. The initial consult and injection was done by one physician. The second injection was done by another physician whom my father, the patient, never saw, as the physician was behind him, working on his back.. When we were being given the discharge instructions by a nurse, who never introduced herself by name ,or that she was a nurse, the physician, in another room, heard her giving erroneous information and came to where we were. He never introduced himself, however did explain things correctly. I introduced myself to him and received necessary information. The next appointment was with the again with the second physician and he communicated directly with me and was VERY helpful. We ended up with a referral to a pain management specialist as the injections did not provide significant relief. I was very well pleased with the Physician assistant that we saw twice at the Orchard Park office. I had heard very good things about the results a neighbor had received at this practice and in fact referred another person there who had excellent results!

    A.O.Fox Hospital
I have very little if any real memory of my hospital stay, however my review is based on 3 things 1st thing: The FACT I was allowed to sign out AMA with uncontrolled seizure activity, highly medicated and obviously unable to make a rational sound/safe decision for myself. 2nd thing I was told by the two people bringing me home, that I had a seizure in the lobby while leaving, vitals were taken I must have been considered stable, however these two witnesses/friends state that I wasn't even conscious when a paper was given to me to sign and a pen held in between my fingers and pretty much the paper signed for me.... I don't know what I/was signed and have no memory of any of this, it's what I have been told.... My behavior was erratic following discharge and within 30 hours was readmitted in a much worse state... I only state that I would return in the future because I have no choice and was told by a staff member I know, that I was treated fantastic by the " sitters" that had to sit with me and that I got along with them all very well which is the 3rd reason and ONLY positive aspect of my stay. I was also TWICE given a medication I was allergic to (Even when my parents, who traveled from NC because of the situation specifically told them to remove it from the IV the first time, they returned the next day and discovered it hanging again and they were told that my Neurologist had told them to give it to me so my parents called his nurse and were told "absolutely not no orders came from here and we know she's allergic to it" The list almost seems endless of negative things to say about this hospital stay, I'm just honestly happy I have no memory of 99% of my stay. After being readmitted less than 30 hours after signing out AMA I was finally transferred to the hospital that deals with my seizures  SUNY Upstate Medical Center and finally able to come home from there free from seizures and the drug over load at A.O. Fox Hospital on (9/15/14).

    Raman, Dr. Dhawan
Dr. Dhawan discharged my wife from care after she established a relationship as a patient with him, then discussed and agreed upon a surgery after she returned from a trip to Asia. Her mother passed away shortly after she returned and the surgery was postponed. Dhawan discharged her, via a message to the front desk, because she had not firmly set a date for the neck surgery. He returned her to her primary care physician, even though the PCP is not an orthopedic specialist. My wife needed neck surgery - not a decision made lightly on the part of either patient or doctor - and because she took an extra 2 months to decide when (she was traveling back and forth to the southeastern US from NY), he simply let her go. In my clinical opinion, he did not follow the normal route of establishing a stable physical health before discharge, did not read the notes made by his staff when she was shifted to the PA, and simply decided that no surgery = no care. It was a strange, uncomfortable experience for my wife and it put us back to square one of finding a doctor and repeating the entire battery of tests, questions, etc. I am glad the other reviewer had a better experience. Perhaps he was in better spirits 9 years ago.

    Bassett Healthcare Oneonta
It was a nightmare for me. Sitting is the worst thing for me besides standing for long periods of time. The VA says if It is an emergency, go to the local hospital. I tried to do just that. Then the bills started coming. I don’t feel I should have a bill. I was not treated. He labeled me a Veteran(and whatever else). he didn’t want to treat me and sent me away in pain, to deal with it on my own. So, how can I be charged for anything? I suggested that it was a conscious choice to make a Veteran’s life miserable over $140. They didn't respond. It doesn’t even sound right does it! Is this how they support Veterans? More importantly, what will Veterans think when they hear that they have to worry about their health care, if they need help in the Oneonta area? I contacted Fox walk in health care billing and suggested that they not bill me any more due to the fact that I was turned away prior to anything being done for me. They breached the contract by sending me away in pain instead of choosing to help me... They didn't even give me a copy of the urinalysis. If they had treated me I would pay the bills, but no treatment no money!!!!!
