Water Heater Repair And Installation reviews in Great Neck

    Fantastic plumbing service!
If you live in Great Neck, you'll know that it is difficult (for some reason) to get a plumber out to do a job. Most websites say "will service Nassau county" but that isn't true. So, when RotoRooter promptly answered my calls, scheduled a service time and window and showed up on time, I was very impressed. They call before they come over and actually show up when they say! I was given a quote for the replacement water heater as I had him repair a dripping sink.
I didn't know it at the time, but my water heater was really,  really close to exploding. Water out of the faucet was rusty colored. I realized I really needed to get the heater fixed, so I scheduled again for service and within a couple days, they were out again. I had a more efficient heater put in and **bonus** it was made in the USA! He removed everything, put down protective stuff (so not to mess up anything), welded and fitted all of the equipment all within a couple of hours.

We found a leak, they came immediately, fixed it, showed us how to maintain it, and did it all promptly and very professionally. We have been using TACO for about three years, since getting our fixer-upper. They have done major plumbing and electrical work for us, and have been phenomenal. We feel lucky to have found them.

I have used Mako Plumbing for many small jobs over the past 4 years.  They have always been timely and  finish the work as promised.  We have worked with several of their plumbers over the years and have had excellent experiences with each.
We finally decided that it was time to upgrade our boiler and hot water tank.  We have small children at home so we do not like to trust just anyone to perform a significant job in our house.  First of all, we need to be confident that the plumbers are competent, pay attention to the details, and most importantly put a premium on safety.  After interviewing and receiving quotes from multiple plumbing companies, we were confident that we made the right decision with Mako.  The price is fair but not rock bottom.  I would not recommend hiring rock bottom priced plumbers to do this type of work anyway,
Ricky and his crew came as scheduled and finished the job in two days.  Their work was fantastic.  Not only did they keep the promised timeline, they were very courteous and respectful of our home.  They understood that a family with kids actually lives in the house and minimal disruption to our daily routine is highly appreciated.
After the job was done and the balance fully paid off, we needed Ricky to come back to our house to readjust a faulty baseboard and faucet.  Once again, he showed up on time as promised and stayed well longer than anticipated to make sure the work was done right.  For anyone who has had major work done on their homes before, one of the biggest fears is the lack of after-service once the balance is paid off.  You will not run into that problem with Mako Plumbing.
I highly recommend this company if you are looking for competence, reliability, and professionalism in your plumber.

First of let me say that overall working with Mako was wonderful experience.  As first time home buyers we had initially called Mako to come in and get our heating system ready for the winter.  Our system is extremely old and at some point would need replacement.   This is all complicated by the fact that we have 2 heating systems (old steam and "newer" hot water system).
We did a great deal of work with other contractors moving before we moved in and we were already on guard in case we heard / felt that we couldn't trust the work that we needed done.
After easily making an appointment with Dawn, Ricky showed up at our door on time and ready to offer us all the help and guidance we needed.    Ricky quickly assessed the system(s) and provided us what we felt was the best option to get us up and running for the winter.   What I think I liked the most is that he took his time to explain all the options available and what would be the most cost efficient / most bang for our buck.   He certainly pointed out that our systems needed replacement but he never tried to oversell us on the fact that it needed replacement prior to the start of the heating systems.   During that first job we opted for the cleaning the system, fixing a radiator leak, replacing two dated thermostats, and replacing a number valves to get the systems breathing right.  Ricky actually took the time to walk my wife and I through the existing system and advise us on how to care for our aging systems. We did ask for an estimate and options for replacing the hot water boiler which as anyone could tell was powered by what looked like the first A.O. Smith model on record.  With a few days we received our estimate which contained three options which were a good mix of both price and features.   Ricky followed up with a call to find out if we had any questions about the estimates and after answering a plenty of questions he advised us that there was "No rush" and to wait till the season started to see how comfortable we were in the house with the system in place.
In November, we felt like the part of the house with the hot water system was fluctuating in temperature and called Ricky to talk about the options yet again.  We ended up going with the higher end option of a condensing boiler that handled not only the domestic hot water in the house but also the half of the house (4 large rooms) heated by the hot water system.   Ricky assured us that it would provide the heat needed and handle up to 3 simultaneous fixtures (showers, dishwasher, etc) begin used as well as providing huge efficiency increases.  The installation took 3 days and Mako showed up every day on time, worked the entire day and kept in constant contact with me and my wife about progress and any issues that came up.   It was evident through this job that Ricky loves his craft and everyday gave my wife and I a lesson about what was completed.  The work was professional, clean and our basement pipe work looks better and cleaner then before they came.   Even after the job was completed Ricky followed up to check in and make sure everything was running as expected.   I can say that the without a doubt this was the best option for us and we are able to do basically whatever we want with the hot water and have never had a dip of temperature when taking a shower and any other other fixture in the house.  Even in the coldest arctic vortex weather we have had this winter we are warm and have not a complaint with Mako or our new Embassy condensing boiler.

George remedied a sewer gas odor in our basement and installed a new water heater.  He patiently took the time to explain the plumbing issues in our basement.  We did not comparison shop the price, but it seemed fair for the good work performed.  We would definitely use Mako again - and request George as well.

The install of all of the equipment went very well. The install team was great...very nice and meticulous. Had a couple of minor glitches that were resolved promptly. I have used the heating and A/C systems now for a complete season and they systems have work extremely well and saved me a lot of money in energy costs.

The experience was great from the start. We couldn't commence work right away (village permit issues) so the Gelbers provided us with a temporary loaner. That one failed to work and they changed it again to another loaner. They went above and beyond what they had to do for us. Additionally, once the work commenced, the crew did their best to contain any mess made. The company is headquartered in Uniondale, and we live in Great Neck, so the crew wouldn't get to us ever before 10am at the earliest, and they would leave at around 3:30pm. That's not the longest work day, and if they were able to work a couple of more hours a day, the job could have been done maybe two days earlier. However, I never brought it up because they were doing a good job and I wasn't paying by the hour!
