Water And Smoke Damage reviews in Great Neck

Guy and his team, including foreman Al Hayes, were extremely good, the best contractor we have ever worked with. They came immediately, did an excellent job in a very complex cleaning job of a sewer backup in a basement filled with stuff. They did so efficiently, with complete consideration for us and for helping us sort what to keep and not. They removed truckloads of stuff. They left us with a remarkably clean basement with no residue from the back-up and fully sanitized. Their whole crew was courteous, pleasant, respectful and very careful of all our things. Guy was always part of the process and always immediately responsive to calls and questions. He went above and beyond, taking time to advise us on a variety of house issues, which was very helpful. They later came back and cleaned the attic, which had been filled with black dust from a roof installation, again as well as before. Al also repaired some tile work for us in his spare time at a very reasonable price. I believe the pricing for all of this was quite reasonable for the very fine work performed. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Mark did a number of jobs the day he was with us. We usually have a long list to be done on our 1920s built house. Most challenging was the repair of the portion of an interior stucco wall which had been turned to mush by a broken steam valve. He repaired the wall and matched almost perfectly the look of the stucco.

First, let me say that my place was disgusting. We have a old home and the people that "owned" it before us used the cheapest routes to repair or maintain anything in the house. So, the hallway bathroom had mold and was gross and the the master shower and toilet drain were connect or something...bottom line gross. Our project manager, Joe M. came over and was able to look at everything without puking, impressive. He gave me a quote after going over it and what was included and not included. We decided to go with Joe and Major Homes and started to rip out the disgusting bathrooms.
Joe was awesome, we found that not only was there water damage in places we did not expect but instead of "mudding" the floor properly, the previous people put layers of concrete down! That was why our foundation was sinking! Also, the mold was from a leaky radiator pipe going to the upper floor. George (great plumber, btw) and Joe were able to fix that and now for the first time in the whole six years of owning the place there's proper heat on all the floors! Thanks George.
    Procedure Notes:
    1) Before the job starts YOU have to go out to order the plumbing fixtures and tiles, so you are responsible for that and it gives you greater leverage over the choices of materials. Like for us, buying stuff made in the USA is important and Val over at Abballe Plumbing was able to hook it up along with all of the crazy whims of my wife....
    2) Next, picking tiles from Siena Marble & Tile from Pablo who was awesome and was able to get what she wanted picked out and was somehow able to figure out what I was trying to do with the Hallway.
    3) Also, pick out a painter so after Joe is finished with the drywall, tile and stuff they can paint before the fixtures go up.
Anyways, payments go in fractions of the total in order of 1/3, 1/3, 1/4 then the rest of the bill after the fixture stuff. Glad to have it done.
Sidenote: We have a 105 lb. doberman and insane Chihuahua and they were able to deal with it. We either locked them up when they were working in a room not being used or when home just kinda watched them do their thing.

We had water damage to our basement carpets from a flooded window well.  The team dried the carpets, vacuumed, treated with anti-mold spray and  left them as good as new. They were reasonable, good to work with, and made sure we were happy with the service provided. Very happy and highly recommend them.

Called Bob about some minor water damage in basement to carpet and asked for his recommendation of where the problem may be coming from. He  offered to come out and take a look but recommended I look into a washing machine hookup to see if the problem may be coming from there. He didn't think we needed a full-service carpet restoration and cleaning/drying, but made some suggestions of how we might go about trying to fix the problem ourselves since it was a small job. He also remembered the job and many details about it from last year, which was quite impressive! Very polite, courteous, professional and helpful. Will call him in the future.

    1. I own four multi-family homes.  Andrew the owner of Home Beautiful Painting has been my exclusive Painting Contractor for over 5 years.  His most recent work was a complete apartment renovation which included the basement area.  They completely demolished the basement including taking down the old paneling that covered the basement walls and replacing it with new drywall. They taped plastered, painted, replaced baseboard molding and new doors and hardware throughout. In the master bedroom they took down old wallpaper and mirrors and completely sheetrocked and painted. They also repaired two ceilings that had water damage from a leak in the apartment above.

Andrew has been my go to person for any issues that have come up in my homes.  He responds to my calls immediately and has helped me trouble shoot numerous issues.  His workers are professional, polite and meticulous.   There have been times when I have been in a time crunch due to one tenant leaving and another coming in.  Andrew has never disappointed me. When he tells you a date of completion he is always exact, which in my situation is very important.
I have been on vacation when tenants have had issues  (water damage, pipes bursting), Andrew is the first person I dial.
He always guides me in the right direction.  A gentleman and a professional, I would never consider using anyone else.

At first, communication, responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism were excellent. I thought that I had found service in construction that I could rely on. Removal went smoothly and on time. The painter was pleasant and diligent, but left paint on the floor and nearby walls. He promised to touch up the paint and remove spots after the floor was installed.
The floor installation was a nightmare. They claimed they were not able to show me a sample of the floor, so they brought the wrong color - much darker than the adjacent room. As a rule, the floor people did not show up for their appointments and did not call to give notice, so they kept us waiting. Once they showed up when they were not supposed to. When finally they installed the right color floor they were unable to replace part of the old floor "because it was under the saddle" that divided the room in repair from the hallway. They were going to solve this by replacing the saddle with a much wider one. Also, they left the new floor with glue on top, so that it was sticky and messy. They proposed to solve this by sanding the floor (which was stained and pre-waxed) and waxing it again. In the process of sanding, many of the edges of the parquet floor lost the stain, and stood out in the original natural color, almost white. As would be expected, they could not find a saddle wide enough and shaped to fit, so they properly replaced the old wood floor that was under the saddle.
Final result: they left a floor unfinished, with some edges unstained. In the process of sanding, they damaged the lower portion of some walls. The painter never came back to remove the paint spots on the walls, but another, very nice painter touched up the paint of the walls and had to repaint the ceiling. He also removed paint spots from the floor of the adjacent room. However, he promised to come back to clean the paint on the walls, and to return the piece of furniture that the first painter and his assistant had removed from the room. It is going on three weeks now since out last contact. Each time i called they said they would come soon to put the piece of furniture back (at least two men are needed) and to remove the paint on the wood wall next to the room painted.
If there is ever a resolution to this, i will amend my review. However, the time from the start of the installation of the floor to now is about three months and i still have the furniture of one room in another, the "repaired" room unfinished and the walls of the adjacent room with paint spots.

    Update:

They were able to resolve all the issues I had. I would highly recommend them. It was found that some of the employees were not performing their jobs correctly and they were removed.
