He returned my call and I was running for a meeting so had to cut the conversation short and I told him that I will call after a little while. I left several messages for him and also sent him an email but he never called back.

Don't be fooled by their customer service. I thought it's a professional company when I initially contacted them, and it's certainly not. I have been looking for a company to remove a tree. I accepted this company's proposal, and scheduled an appointment. they said that they will confirm with me the exact time window before the service day, but I didn't get any call and ended up with calling them in order to get the time window. On the supposed service day, nobody came, and I needed to call them again and I got an answer saying that their service car was broken. Even if that was true, they certainly could have contacted me proactively instead of keeping me waiting forever. I decided to cancel the transaction.

We called Savatree to look at our trees and remove diseased and damaged tree limbs after we and our neighbors lost tree limbs, which caused serious damage, after a significant wind and rainstorm in February. Savatree came over very quickly, and immediately began a very overbearing and unsubtle hard sell. They constantly tried to upsell their expensive fertilization and other landscaping services, even though we were clear over and over again that all we wanted at that point was to get the dangerous limbs taken care of. They also said after the assessment that we had to make an appointment immediately to have the limbs removed, otherwise it might be days or weeks before they could fit us in again. Concerned about the possibility of more tree limbs coming down and doing even more damage, I failed to get another quote and gave in to the pressure to make an appointment without consulting another tree service. A few days later they came to do the work. While there, they took far too much healthy growth out of the trees, but didn't remove all of the diseased material. Also, at the request of our neighbor, they pressured us to remove a healthy tree limb, which we ended up doing because we were nervous about falling limbs and trusted them. The attempts to sell us additional fertilization services did not stop. We asked another local family-owned tree service to take a look at the trees afterwards to see about whether the fertilization was necessary. That provider (who has higher online ratings than Savatree) said that not only were the fertilization treatments unnecessary, but Savatree had done a bad job on the trees they pruned. According to that provider, we were overcharged by more than $1000, given how aggressively our trees were pruned. I tried working with Savatree to reduce the fee (which was inadvertently paid before we had a chance to review their work), and they offered us a discount equal to a tiny fraction of the total charge. There were no apologies for taking advantage of us after a big storm, and they were quite nasty when I complained about the constant upselling. I would never use Savatree again. I have learned my lesson about being pressured by made-up tight schedules.

Responded very quickly to my request. Highly professional crew. Their aim was to meet customer's expectations and to do quality work. Terms and scope of job was negotiated by a pleasant professional overseeing job. Multiple suggestions about additional work that could be done to care for trees, bushes, etc are made if one expresses interest. Those discussions could take some time so be prepared if you are interested. They offer a nourishment regimen to bring back plantings, trees etc following the rough winter but it can be costly.  Work is well done and meticulous.

They are wonderful. The cost was about one third of what I had been paying for another gardener, one who kept charging me for pruning which hen never did, and a lot of what were unnecessary services such as spraying of trees, deep root feeding, and other services. My property looked just as good as it did when I paid three times as much. Actually, it even looked better.

Gerard came as promised. He and his crew worked through the morning and did a careful job. The clean up was exemplary. Have used him at least three times over the years and have been very satisfied with his work and the advice he has provided about our trees.

During Tropical Storm Sandy, a large oak tree fell across my property, flattening my detached garage and resting on my house.  It was very difficult to find someone available after the storm to remove the tree, but I couldn't begin repairs on my house and garage until the tree was taken care of.  As a large company, Bartlett had resources available that smaller companies didn't have, and they had the heavy equipment needed for this complicated job.  The representative, Don Kwarta, was very responsive to my situation and he arranged for crews to be brought in from out of state to tackle the removal.  Because the tree was resting against the house and was under weight and tension, the crews had to carefully think each cut.  They were able to get the tree off of the house without incurring any additional damage.  Mr. Kwarta and the Bartlett crew did an exceptional job, and I was lucky to have hired them.

They did some decent work, but they go overboard with services they want to perform, or say they performed, whether you agree to it or not.  At one point, one of the bosses told me that felt they had to do what they felt needed doing at the time they saw a need.  My answer was that it was up to me, not them, and I was told they don't work that way.  At one point, I came outside to find their men "cleaning out" an area of branches and vines which shield my property from the property next door, and which had deliberately been left overgrown to provide privacy.   When I asked them why they were doing it, I was told they had been "told to do some cleaning up".  I stopped them cold, and I was told I would not be charged, but I think they padded a later bill, in order to make up for the work the men had already done before being stopped.  Their charges are ludicrous.  I believe they do a lot of commercial work, as well, so perhaps it is not worth it to them to do mundane residential work without getting massive amounts of money.  The bottom line is - if you want to spend a fortune, have work done which you specifically tell them not to do, get charged for work which was not done ( all I can prove is the liming of the lawn), then use them.  Otherwise, steer clear.  BTW, they are notoriously unreliable when you call them because you NEED something done, and three or four calls are often necessary before you even get a response.  If there's no immediate promise of big bucks, they are very lax.

Ted is awesome.  First, he always gets back to me within 24 hours.  Second, he shows up within a week.  Third, the work is done quickly and the job is left clean.  This isn't my first positive review for Bear Tree and it probably won't be my last.  It is so hard to find responsive contractors, and I'm dealing with a renovation where I am wishing they all ran their business like Ted.

Called Ted at 7:30 in the morning on a snowy Saturday morning, he picked up the phone and we met up that same morning. Ted and I walked through the options and he suggested a plan.  He gave me a quote on the spot and followed up with a detailed estimate.  We decided on the work we would do now and what could wait until spring.  Ted let me know when his team was going to show up, called me from the house to let me know how it was going, and let me know that the job was done.  The work was done very professionally and the property was left cleaner than it was before he came.  A+ service.
