DI chose this office as a Primary Care Manager (PCM) at the end of 2014. I arrived promptly to my first appointment to a clean, well-arranged waiting room. However, the subsequent 2-hour wait to enter a pre-screening with a nurse diminished my initial perception.
After a good pre-screening at the nurses station, I moved to an examination room to wait for another 30 minutes. The physical was performed in a professional manner, and I was told to await my results. The lead time for these results were indeterminate, and I was informed that it may be several days before any results returned.
After 1 week, I received a letter in the mail that instructed me to contact the office for a follow-up appointment due to an abnormality in the results. Upon calling the office to schedule an appointment, I inquired as to why I was contacted via USPS rather than phone or email. The receptionist claimed that every attempt was made to contact me (I had no missed phone calls, text messages, emails from the day of the appointment to the postmark of the letter, nor after the postmark).
At this point, I was told that the next available appointment was in February. I asked if there was anything available sooner, as there was no indication about the abnormality and it's severity. The response was apathetic and seemingly a nuisance to the receptionist on the other end; but, with some stern but not overbearing insistence, I had the appointment moved to the last Monday of the month. (Important to note is the pervasive and widespread history of cancer in my family, and the unbearable amount of time I had to wait to get my results).
After 1 more week, my pharmacist called to inform me of an awaiting prescription. I picked up the prescription and asked the pharmacist about it's origin. He informed me that it was from Salerno Medical Associates, and there was no further information available.
I called the office again; and, the receptionist said that there was nothing she could do to advance the appointment.
Upon my visit to the doctor the following week, I sat in the waiting room for the duration of three hours (two Netflix movies played in their entirety while I was there). After that, I waited 30 more minutes in the examination room. When I saw the practitioner, I made sure to inform her that I had a Vitamin D deficiency. She gave me some information relevant to my condition, which I use to this day.
In summary, my experience with Salerno Medical Associates was not all bad. However, the administration of the office is so abysmal and dismissive of patients that they deserve an "F" rating, because it trickles into the entire patient/doctor experience.

AHe is a tame doctor. When you go to him, he doesn't pretend he knows the answer to your problem. He never has a snappy answer within five minutes. There are some insurance he doesn't take. If you are in pain, he is the doctor to solve the problem, but good luck getting an appointment. He treated my pain without drugs or surgery. He talks to you and finds out what the problem. He is amazing.

AKatz-Gerrish, Dr. Julie B.I have been seeing Dr. Katz-Gerrish for a few years. Since finding her, my pain has been nearly eliminated.. Prior to this, I could not even stand up straight. My pain was continuous and I was plagued with multiple muscular back spasms. With her continuing treatment, I am now living a very active and pain-free life. I am very pleased with her services. She utilizes a combination of osteopathic manipulative medicine with a general holistic approach to her services, concomitant with a genuine concern for her patients' well-being. Her knowledge of the human spine is unparalleled, and in conjunction with her skill using the most current technologies available as well as her unyielding interest in her patients' health, in my opinion, is illustrative of her great success as an Osteopathic physician whom I can recommend without reservation.- Robert F.

AJorge FernandezJorge is a licensed massage therapist. He essentially does specific muscle work. He is very different than a regular chiropractor. He helps me with my scoliosis, that I have had since I was very young. He is very top notch. He treats specific ailments. He strives to take care of you in one session. I have been seeing him for around 8 years. He can hurt quite a bit sometimes but he will find the root of the problem and often it is effective. He will tell you to avoid activities for a few days and it will work. He does a wide variety of things, including helping people with infertility, vertebrae issues. He lived in Russia and Spain and knows fluent russian and spanish. He has worked with many professional skaters. He will not work with people with transplants or foreign objects by way of surgery. It is non-invasive treatment with a broad range of knowledge of anatomy. It is $100 for a 45 minute session. Sometimes he will go over the time and not charge you extra. He has regular clients but he has flexibility. His office is very neat, clean and well-maintained. It is small but he has all he needs. His wife does all his administrative work. He is blind, which allows him to compensate to others. He is very appropriate. He has become a friend through providing great service for many years.- Ileana S.

ARichard F. Smith, D.O.Dr. Smith evaluated me, then worked gently and quickly to help counter the spasms. This was immediately relieving but the damage was intense and so I saw him for about 10 consecutive weekly sessions which helped immensely. He communicated thoroughly and kept excellent records of my progress and relapses and made suggestions for excercises and stretches and let me know he saw slow but steady progress which indicated that my body was healing and would continue healing. His osteopathic manipulations around the spine and neck were gentle, yet I could feel them deeply and sometimes he said he was working deeply and to rest later. On one of those occasions I questoned (to myself) if he was actually doing anything, as it felt so subtle. When I stood up, my whole body felt like it was put together differently, and as the day went on, my hips and shoulders and neck felt like they had each endured heavy labor and ached deeply. The next morning I woke up and felt like I had turned the corner on my healing and have been steadilyl improving since.- Heather F.
