    Cornell Electronic Systems, Inc.
Horrible. This man is professional con artist. He jerked us around for 9 months and had us pay and pay and pay. Constantly giving a different excuse as to why he couldn't finish the job and needed additional funds for parts, permits, etc. We hired a different contractor who completed the job within 2 weeks. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CONTRACTOR.

    TRUE VALUE SECURITY SYSTEMS
The job went very well. I have a large home in Great Neck. The owner of the company, Mitchell Myer was on the job with his assistant, Victor on time as promised. The installation, many contact points, took about an entire work-day. Then Mitchell stayed on and spent another two hours teaching my wife and me how to operate the system. The extra time was amazing. When MItchell left we were very comfortable using the system. One would not get this kind of commitment and personal attention from one of the very large alarm companies. The monitoring is great. Tested them a couple of times....and the response was in about ten seconds .....tough to beat that. I recommend True Value sSecurity Systems to anyone wanting an excellent system at a fair price, and real commitment from the principal of the company.

    Frontpoint
Although the information was thorough, the phone calls and follow-up emails have proven to be too much.  Although this ended up NOT being the type of alarm we wanted to install, we did appreciate the information we received from FrontPoint and they answered all questions promptly and professionally.  They have continued to follow up, however, DESPITE being told that we are going in another direction.  Relentless. I regret ever giving my email and phone number.

    KOVACS ALARM SYSTEMS INC
Kovacs has extremely professional specialists who are long-time employees. There is never any worry about the caliber of workmen who are coming into your home or business. They are punctual, and are usually able to respond within 24 hours for a service request.

Installation was professional. They took a few hours but seemed to be thorough. They were courteous but definitely play to the average - I say this for two reasons.
    1. Their description of the house security needs was dumbed down and overly long. I am not impressed with sophisticated or drawn out explanations. I asked them to cut to the chase and describe what they recommend.
    2. They used several unappreciated and undesirable selling techniques both on the phone and in person. One used in both settings was the "let me talk to my manager" trick. As in, "I have to call my manager to make sure this price break is OK," just like they do at the car dealer - this way making it seem like they're doing a big favor, when in fact the advertised deal, coupon, or whatever means that EVERYONE gets that anyway. Come on people, stop treating us like we're dumb. They also used a lot of the "oh yeah, I have this in my house, so you should too." Have some respect for the customer - once we're signing up, don't waste our time - just do what we've requested.

I've tried several times calling the central office for customer support concerning paperwork and the alarm console. On both occasions the wait time was too long. I do not have over 10 minutes to sit around on hold because the company simply cares too little about its customers to hire enough people TO ANSWER THE PHONE!
I took the company's suggestion and emailed my question, along with a picture about the item in question, over 24 hours ago. I have not received any response, automated or human. That, in my book, is a failure.
I am going to explore changing service providers now, to one that responds. That's the minimum one could ask for from and alarm service.

    KOVACS ALARM SYSTEMS INC
While having new windows installed, I needed to replace an old foil on glass alarm system. I called Kovacs and they were there within hours. They were able to see the old system as well as the new windows. They explained the latest technology with carbon monoxide, gas, temperature and water detectors, as well as the multi zone alarm system. Their work was neat, professional and exacting. Their employees could not have been any nicer.

    General Security
I think General Security is more expensive than their competitors, but the service is second to none, the quality of the untis are top notch, and the salesperson was very accomodating to any issues I had in the beginning.
