.Estimate (written) was provided about a week ago. Roger came on time and provided a fair budget. I was impressed with his professionalism and knowledge. I decided that his company was the way to go. I called his office and set an appointment for 5/16. He and his helper came on time and finished the job as promised and on budget.

Overall, it went well. I initially purchaed the $99- chimney cap and inspection deal and was surprised by the overall price. However; considering the safety hazard of the blocked oil flue and the broken flue door in the fireplace, I feel the price was sufficient.
Perhaps it was the holiday season, but having them come by took a little time. I had to wait over two weeks for an appointment. However; they were promptly on time on the scheduled date.
They were very clean when we asked them to be. They took off their boots and made sure to limit the amount of ash and dust that made its way into the house. They also cleaned the ash from the oil flue completely and showed us that the blockage was cleared as well as cleaning the fireplace.
They also took pictures of everything to show us the individual problems and explained everything to a tee. I used the fireplace recently after the work was accomplished and the damper seems to be working just fine.

The job went as planned.  The chimney was lined and capped and testing afterwards showed improved draft and all exhaust was leaving through the chimney.  The job was supposed to take two to three hours but they had to order a smaller liner which they did not have on their truck but they were able to call someone who had it delivered 30 minutes later so the job could be completed.  I would definitely recommend  them without reservation

They were good. Another company gave me an estimate involving a lot of repairs. This company verified I only needed new chimney caps and they installed them that day. I felt pretty good about their service and didn't feel like I was getting oversold.

They did a good job with the chimney sweep. The chimney cap was not installed properly and it ultimately wasn’t the cap that I purchased. They agreed to use a specific model of a chimney cap but used something else. They did not make the situation right. The issue never came to closure and I never contacted them again. They do good sweep work and if one asks for anything else they may not get what they asked for. I had leaks after the chimney cap was put in and we ended up having to get someone else to replace it. Their price was average.

Appointment was easy and had ample available times.  They arrived promptly and performed the services required.  Also gave an assessment of two possible issues, but no real pressure to get those done.  They left documentation of these two issues and a price estimate to rectify them at a later date if needed.  I'm sure most of these Angie's List deals are for companies to find new leads, but didn't feel like it a pressure sale for the add-on fixes.
    Overall, happy with the service.

I had no heat for over 24 hours, the temperature had dropped below 60 F. It was in the 30's outside. I called my usual service people, as well as other plumbers but no one was available for at least another day. It was freezing, and I was not well. I had no one else to call, so I called Dakota who was supposed to come soon to clean my chimney. I asked if she was a plumber, or if she knew one. She is not a licensed plumber, but she said her family was very pleased with their local plumber. She offered to call them, which she did, and then called me back. Not only that, but then she offered to call the company (Skinner Plumbing & Heating) on my behalf to see if she could get them to help me. Next thing I knew, I got a call from Bobby who said two men would be there after they finished with their current job, in about 2 1/2 hours. It would be dark out by then, and even colder, but it was sooner than I could have expected from any other company. However, about a half hour later, two men from Skinner showed up having finished their prior job early. I was delighted with their work and made a report for them. However, if it hadn't been for Dakota Springfields, the Chimney Dr., I never would have known about them.
Dakota did this as a favor to a past customer, out of the goodness of her heart, as she did not stand to make any money from me  from this referral. She not only got the information for me, she went a step further and CALLED THEM for me because they knew her. Not many professionals would go that extra mile, but she did, and that is why I made this report.

Arrived on time. Started work right away but DID NOT move the persian rug (or prevent it from getting soiled) from adjacent to the fireplace. Had to stop them and flip rug over/cover with a plastic tarp. Then, went to basement and cleaned the gas flue. I watched the whole operation and the amount of soot from both cleaning could have been sweeped within one child's shovel. However, the main technician tells me that the fireplace is completely damaged and cracked and would need a stainless steel sheath (about $2500.00) because if I left it that way, carbon monoxide would go backwards and seep into the house and kill everyone. How he could tell by a flashlight aimed up from below is beyond me. He then went to inspect the cap and told me the masonry was cracked and needed replacement (350.00). I was already very skeptical about the whole carbon monoxide scare tactic because in all my limited science education, I did not know of any gas that would flow backwards and seep into walls rather than up and into the path of least resistance (an opened airway). When I declined his services, he told me that I would have to sign all this paperwork stating that they were not responsible for any dangers; I actually had no problem with that tactic because frankly, he wasn't responsible for anything 1 hour before he showed up. So I signed away. I had another chimney sweep come by the following week and he basically told me everything was fine. The gas chimney barely needs annual cleaning as it usually burns pretty cleanly.
