  • It went badly. I still have a broken machine and the insurance money I had to cover the machine ended up going to the company. Would never use them again. This is the company: Discount Appliance Repair Service Serving all of Nassau County, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx 718-464-4622 516-708-5570 Do not confuse this company with other companies named Discount Appliance as there is at least one other in the area.

  • After 30 years my refrigerator gave out! I looked everywhere and on the recommendation of a neighbor tried the PC RIchard in Westbury. They had a large selection of refrigerators. I saw a model that I was interested in, and Michael, my salesperson, explained everything that I would need to consider for the space in my old house. I went home, measured, and came back to purchase. There was never any pressure. The price was right, and the atmosphere professional! Delivery was excellent, with a number of courtesy phone calls the day before. The frig came right on time, the delivery men set it up in no time with no damage to my home and took away the old frig! It was a seamless, stress free experience from start to finish. Thank You!

  • First off, what I went in for (as advertised) was not available. I believe this is called bait and switch. However, I was willing to buy a different wide-screen TV (I needed two and was told it was a better price if I bought both at the same time). I was shown a floor model HP "tower" computer, and the salesman assured me it would work fine with the TV's I was buying. The computer was 50% off because it was a floor model, but I was assured it was a great model, and would definitely meet my needs. The computer and TV's were delivered but not installed. I didn't think it would be too hard to plug in a computer. Boy was I wrong! No matter what I tried, I couldn't get any sound out of the TV when using it in combination with the computer, although it had perfect sound when not attached to the computer. I went back to the store, and was told I needed to buy a special cable (another $25.) When I got home, the cable wasn't the right one. Then I discovered I had been charged for a warranty I had declined. I went back to the store, returned the cable and got the extra charge taken off. I was told I needed a "better" cable which cost $10 more than the one I returned. Of course, that one didn't change anything. Then I went to Radio Shack, they sold me what they thought I might need, but couldn't understand why a brand new computer wasn't compatible with a Sony TV display. After trying this third cable without any luck I called HP. I couldn't figure out why the configuration they showed in the diagram didn't seem to fit what I saw on the two machines. They had no idea why I couldn't get sound from the TV when using it with the HP computer. I tried calling PC Richard again, but they didn't have anyone who could explain the problem or what to do about it. I finally gave up trying to get sound, and just used it for simple computing. For this I didn't need to buy a 42" wide screen top of the line Sony TV. Some months later, on page 37 of the online manual, I discovered a single sentence that seemed to explain the problem. My particular model of HP computer connects to separate speakers. Since my new TV has speakers integrated within the frame of the set, this computer cannot be used with it, because external speakers are required! The salesman had sold me a computer that was INCOMPATIBLE with the TV I bought SPECIFICALLY to be used with it. Of course by this time, I couldn't get any satisfaction from PC Richard. It was too late. HP wouldn't help me because the ONLINE manual explains the requirement for external speakers. They would not accept it for a return because it was not broken. The salesman had never told me they were incompatible, and in fact he insisted they would work perfectly well together. PC Richard personnel will lie with impunity to make a sale. I will never go back.

  • The salesman was wonderful and really worked with us. I trusted his opinion. The installation was o.k. I was not that happy with the repair and installation crew but I love the store. The salesman was good and he is friendly, knowledgeable, and isn't pushy.

  • The sales department at Sears is fine. They sell name brand products from companies that have been in existence for a long time. The salesperson you deal with is all dependent upon who is working that particular shift. If the installation people were as good as the sales people, Sears would be set. In general, you are dealing with a large company so it always depends on who the sales person is you are talking to and who the installation person is you are dealing with.

  • We called the store to see if a delivery truck could bring the missing stuff. An unsympathetic manager denied our request and told us we can bring the box back. An email to the company resulted in two phone calls to us and a very sympathetic district manager who sent a crew to replace the stand AND put it together for free. We got a good price and the company was good to us. This is the kind of service that is hard to find these days and we were thrilled. The take home message also is to complain over the head of unresponsive store staff.
