    D Allen & Sons Contracting
Called and had an in-home appointment within a few days. Marty Allen was very attentive to our concerns, showed us samples of the materials available, and emailed a detailed proposal very soon after our meeting. We required removal of existing siding, installation of new vinyl siding, soffits, gutters, some roof repair, and window and door replacement. The D Allen crew were professional, and were available to update us on progress. The company owner visited the job site daily, and the crew cleaned up every day and left no details unaddressed. The final result exceeded our expectations. We would definitely hire this company again and recommend them to anyone who needs work on their home.

    Sullivan Interior Finishing
I was anxious to get the work done so that we could put the house on the market as soon as possible. Joel was booked pretty solid, but he was able to send over two guys for four days over the course of two weeks. I was really happy that he was able to work us into his schedule despite how busy he was. Joel contacted me after the first day of work to see how things went. I had no complaints with the workmanship, which I would describe as very good. I have hired many different contractors and none of them even come close to the quality of communication I received from Sullivan Interior Finishing. I could call or email Joel anytime and get a quick response and he always wanted to make sure that I was satisfied with the work throughout the entire process. I found the estimate to be very thorough, with each task itemized so you can can easily decide what things to do now and what things to skip. I also found the pricing very reasonable. I got estimates from two other contractors, both of which had good reviews on Angie's List. We ended up not doing everything on the estimates because we didn't think we'd get our money back, but for comparison the others estimates were $50,000 (not a typo) and $20,000. Joel came in at $8,000. Considering how smooth the process was and the qualify of the work, I think we got more than our money's worth.

    NEW BUFFALO IMPACT
NYSERTA confirmed coverage of the $250 Audit cost.
Audit 5/20/2015 - Peter pointed out deficiencies in insulation and gaps where heat was going from my main floor through the attic right out side.  I explained my limited ability to fund changes so the need to focus on small changes that would have big impact and then other projects which may be more but had compelling return on investment.  Peter pointed out things I could do myself or with a handy man.  He reported no gas leaks or issues of that type.
Audit Report 5/28/2015 - Report reviewed their recommendation with 2 packages.  It left some items out that were discussed and I sent an email with questions for response to clarify as there were two items we discussed I wanted to cover.   Peter responded to my email for clarifications in a few days.  Peter was also helpful in giving opinions about the roofing job I was letting out.
I decided to break out the package into two phases leaving the cellulose wall insulation for another year. I will have them do the things only a professional can do.  I have scheduled the following for the first week in August.  Timing is my choice to give me time to prepare the area.
    1. >Rim Joist Foam Insulation
    2. >Attic Air sealing measures
    3. >Air sealing exterior door measures
    4. >Bath Exhaust
    5. >Attic access tent
In preparation for their work I have had an exterminator in to remove a hornets nest found in the attic during the audit and I need to move stored items from 3 feet of the basement  exterior walls and the attic.  I also had a carpenter open up an access portal to a back attic gable.
8/3/2015 - The team arrived on time as scheduled and immediately started work.  They had me inspect each area of treatment.  I found a few spots they came back and caulked.  I had a concern about how the attic ladder insulating tent was installed which was corrected.
Pete came back and inspected after a 2 week wait which allowed the foam to cure and in some cases pulled away. He fixed those places and adjusted the doors which were tight with the weather stripping.
I had an excellent experience and I would hire them again when I can to complete the recommendations.

    Truesdale,s Home Remodeling
Last summer Paul came out to fix our leaky backdoor. After fixing it, he said that he would stand behind the repairs. The next rainy day the door still leaked, so I called Paul and he just kept giving me the run around through the whole winter. This summer I called him again and he came back out, with me paying him, and put flashing around the door. After doing this, he said to let him know if it leaks the next rainy day. The next time it rained the door leaked yet again, so I called Paul and he gave me the runaround and I still haven't seen him and now he's not even returning my phone calls.

    Modern Window of NY Inc
Everything went very smooth.  The sales rep that we initially dealt with was very professional, showed up when scheduled, and did a great job explaining their product and our options.  The installation crew showed up exactly when promised, did a great job on the installation, and completed the job quicker than we expected.  All in all, a good solid job.

    Handyman Extraordinaire
-Mike is fabuous!  He came out the next day after my initial call, appraised all the items on my to-do list, thoroughly went over everything he intended to do to fix my problems and gave me a fair estimate of what he would charge to do the job.  After I agreed to hire him, he gave me a definite date about 2-3 weeks out of when he would come to do the work.  He came on the specified date, very expertly fixed everything, and even gave me a follow-up call to make sure I was satisfied with what he did.  I will definitely be calling him in the future and I highly recommend him!

I like the fact that the guy who was here did a good job. The door looks great. I did not like the fact that the owner tried to bill me for extra because it took longer. Basically the guy who did the roofing job in 2011 and the one who estimated the door job at the same time was called by the company. The owner then said that there was additional two to three hundred dollar charge for extra materials and extra time it took this guy to do such a good job. I said that the quote the one who estimated gave me verbally was all inclusive. There was no extra for extra time. I wrote a letter to the owner two months ago. That was kind of a surprise but they never followed up on it and I am assuming that that is a dead issue now because I never heard from them. I had to call the owner several times and asked him when is he coming out to do the job. When we finally agreed when the guy is going to be here, he was here exactly when he said he is going to be and is here until his job is finished. He was punctual.

From the beginning the experience was great. They were pleasant, clean, and meticulous. The roofing job was great and efficient. We were so pleased that we had them come back to instal new windows and siding. The prices were great and the service was exceptional. I would recommend them to anyone looking for roofing, siding, windows, or any handyman work. They turned our house from drab to fab! They went above and beyond with their services and provided great advice.

    Sunroom Additions & Improvements, Inc.
The project took about two weeks. All materials were delivered. A crew of five to six dug the post holes and secured the joists. Every one on the crew was courtious and pleasant to work with. They answered all questions respectfully.
An issue came up with our town which had passed a law since our house was built that houses must have a 35 foot setback. Ours was 33 feet. They decreed that the sunroom could be built no closer than 35 feet from the road. This would have the outside wall of the sunroom in the middle of the living room sliding glass door. We were required to move the door over two feet. This was not included in the original contract since it was discovered when they applied for a building permit.
However, Sunroom Additions complied with the law, not only moving the door but replacing it with a new one at their expense.
Another issue was the roofing. Our understanding was that this company would be applying roofing shingles to the roof. Coincidently, our roof had blown off during a recent windstorm and we had contracted with Seibold to replace it. We told Seibold about the the new sunroom. He priced our new roof for the original roof size since that is what the insurance would allow.
When the sunroom roof was finished, the roof was white metal. We had a disconnect. After discussion among the homeowners and the two separate contractors, Sunroom Additions agreed to pay Seibold to shingle the sunroom roof so it would match the house. They have been back several times to check on the job and have made a small repair. We are very pleased with the new room and with this contractor.
    We would hire them again.

    Kaz Companies Inc
We called them to come out for an estimate.  They came out within two days.  We had work that we wanted done.  They came on a Thursday and said they would have the estimate done Monday.  We didn't hear from them.  We went into the showroom and looked at some things.  They still didn't have the estimate.  They said they would call us; they never did.  We called them.  They said they would call us back; they didn't.  My husband emailed them.  They said that they lost our information and would get back to us.  It was runaround for probably six weeks, and we only got the deck estimate, not the estimate for the other work.  Two guys came out: one guy that does doors and windows, and the other guy that does decks.  I would never call them again.  They were one of the businesses that did all of the types of work we wanted done, so we thought we would try to get it all done with one company.
