    Urgent & Primary Care
As the name states, this is First an Urgent care and Second a Primary care facility with 2 Doctors and 4 staff on the day of my visit. Realize and accept this fact as you choose this practice, for there will be times of long waiting periods. This is a Family run Practice, with Family values very much at the core and whose staff I appreciate, very much. Should you be there for Rheumatological care, as I was, Dr, Dipti Bhoiwala is knowledgeable, open minded, a patient listener, thoroughly explains options and very easy to work with. An important suggestion: It helps to be prepared by having as much of your own documentation and medical reports with you as possible.

    Monserrate, Dr Nicole
Recently I had a troublesome health problem (to me) that she was able to diagnose tentatively via portal communications and then in person in her office. It is a condition that the literature says is often challenging to diagnose. We have found Dr. Monserrate to be sharp, very pleasant and quite medically knowledgeable. She is articulate, asks relevant and helpful questions, and appears to actively keep abreast of new developments in medicine. She seems to be tuned in to the needs of seniors as distinct from those of other age groups. We find the most effective way to communicate with her is by email over the FollowMyHealth portal of Community Care Physicians. She usually responds within a day or sooner.

    Medical Assoc Of Hudson Valley
I've been using MAHV for years (disclosure: I am a personal friend of one of the founding doctors). They are technologically and educationally top rate, constantly training their staff and keeping up to date on medical issues. In addition to adult primary care, they have a broad variety of specialists and are slowly growing their practice size. For Lyme or other infectious diseases, I wouldn't go anywhere else. They take care to hire only excellent doctors. Although they are a relatively large practice, each visit is given the time and care and conversation it needs. Specialist appointments are relatively easy to get. There is simply no comparison to some of the lackluster medical practices in the Hudson Valley. Although I now live 50 miles away, I still make the drive when I need medical attention. My sole complaint is that they need more rigorous telephone followup when a post-visit test result is out of normal range. Using their web portal, I can always check test results online myself, though.

    Prime Care Physicians PLLC
Dr. Hoenzsch is very careful in his analysis and diagnosis of problems. I have had a couple of unique medical issues in the last couple of years and he has patiently worked to resolve them and helped me get to see specialists on short notice when needed. He genuinely cares about his patients and gave out his home number when I had a serious issue. My complaints are that their office is dirty and worn, and they are often behind schedule.

    CapitalCare Internal Medicine Nott St.
They seem to be honest. I don't use them that much. I typically only use them for an annual physical. My physician is helpful when I have questions. If I have a need, he is good at dealing with it.

    Albany Gastroenterology Consultants
Coming from a completely medical family (father internist/cardiologist, mother RN, brother pediatric pulmonology) I know what it is to "give good medicine" and this place certainly knows how. Albany Gastroenterology is a large group, but that does not mean it's impersonal.  With one small exception, everyone I worked with there was professional, exceedingly kind, and focused on the patient. I had an endoscopy done.  For those that don't know, that's the little tube camera the goes down your throat and checks out your esophagus and stomach.  Most people are apprehensive, and I was no exception. Dr. Orris is one of the "big names" there, and while he wasn't jolly/cuddly friendly, he was cordial and very sharp.  His appointment scheduler made sure I could get in quickly but without impinging on my work schedule (I am an entrepreneur who travels a lot; if I don't travel, I don't work and don't get paid).  The experience today was almost flawless.  I had my procedure done in their surgical suite upstairs from their main offices.  The only complaint I had was with their receptionist, who, when I said I was here for an endoscopy, flippantly said "Better you than me." Absolutely uncalled for, unprofessional and unfeeling.  We reported her to a couple of people for a reprimand and some sensitivity training. But she was the only bad apple.  Lindsay, my prep nurse, was cheerful and very patient with all of my questions.  She paid close attention when I explained I'd had a double mastectomy and that no IVs or blood pressure cuffs could be used on my right arm.  She marked the arm clearly so nobody would make a mistake.  She was the one who placed the needle for the conscious sedation drip, and take it from someone who has had a lot of surgeries and a lot of needle sticks -- it was smooth, easy, and barely a pinch.  She's really good.  She listened to my apprehensions and was willing to work with me with whatever it took to make sure I was willing to go through with the procedure. Next, we have Paula; another bright and cheerful nurse (but not "fake cheery" -- I know what that's like!), again at the top of her game.  I explained to her that if I was afraid that there were certain key phrases and affirmations she could say to me and it would calm me down.  She loved the idea, took my typed list and clipped it to the front of her materials.    When we got into the surgical suite itself, and I explained that I had trouble with throat-numbing materials, she agreed with my suggestion to "up the Versed" before I took them. And *PING* that is the last thing I remember!  Apparently I did beautifully.  Could have fooled me; I didn't even know when they started.   Michael, my third nursing partner, was very solicitous and made sure I was warm enough, had water, and was clear in the brain and steady on the legs before I got dressed and went out to meet my husband. Dr. Orris came by with his findings (how lucky! nothing awful) and instructions, and we were sent home with pretty pictures and descriptions of the procedure, and some instructions.  (Trust me; unless you are a doctor, your insides look pretty weird, but it's always good to have the information for your own medical file.) This is medicine the way it should be practiced.  No, none of us wants to go through "getting scoped" but these folks can be trusted to do a great job.  HIghly recommended.

    Perkins, Dr. Jeffrey
We weren't able to continue with Dr. Perkins when he could not accept our HMO because of a change in his practice type. I don't think this is the case any longer, but we have another equally-fine physician now. If we lost our present physician, we would not hesitate to return to Dr. Perkins. He is very prevention-oriented. He includes his patients in decision-making for their care.

    Perkins, Dr. Jeffrey
He performed a thorough exam and diagnosed my leg issue. He is a great doctor: smart, kind, and knows who to refer you to.

    Perkins, Dr. Jeffrey
He’s very good but he can be hard to get into because he’s so good. However, he has joined a new group so that may have changed. He’s been around a long time and has a lot of awards. He’s very good at what he does and I feel very lucky that I was able to have him as my doctor. He’s rated very highly! Last week I had the flu, he called me personally to see what my symptoms were, so I was really impressed.
