    North Country Urgent Care
I stepped on a board that apparently had a bee's nest underneath it and I was stung a couple of times right near my ankle and the back of my leg.  I put ice on it and then triple antibiotic but a day or two later it was swollen and VERY hot and red.  My husband took me to North Country Urgent Care  (we live about 20 miles away) to  have it looked at.  Come to find out I had an infection and was prescribed antibiotics.  The attending PA went out of his way to explain that this year has been extremely bad for bees because of the extreme heat and that bees have been looking to garbage cans for food so in addition to getting a dose of venom I more than likely got a dose of "garbage can" too which caused the infection. This year I have also taken my husband to North Country Urgent Care for pain in his lower back that turned out to be kidney stones, my elderly mother for pain in her foot which turned out to be gout and my mother-in-law for back pain.  Every one of them was treated with dignity and respect and with great kindness and genuine concern. I HIGHLY recommend North Country Urgent Care!!!

    Watertown Urgent Care
Watertown Urgent Care is GREAT!  They are a walk in clinic so no appointement is necessary.  I have been there multiple times since my first visit in November 2011.  I took my elderly father there for back pain.  I took my elderly mother-in-law there after a fall in her kitchen. Took my own mother there for foot pain which ultimately was diagnosed as gout.  I use them for all my routine blood work and lastly I just took my husband there last week for EXTREME back pain which is the scenario I will now describe.  My husband (had a heart attack 3 years ago) is a pretty tough guy and does not complain of pain unless it is really bad.  He woke up one morning two weeks ago with EXTREME back pain.  He was in such pain that I feared it was his heart again so I Initially I took him to the local hospital emergency room where he was told "it will be awhile" so he walked out and we went to Watertown Urgent Care.  He was taken in promptly and was seen by Mark Knowles, the Physician Assistant.  They did X-Rays, blood work and took a urine sample and Mark suspected that my husband had passed a kidney stone.  Results were sent to my husband's primary care physician who he saw the following week.  Aside from the great treatment here, they have an on-site lab so there is no running around for X-Rays, blood work and other lab tests - they do it all right on site.  I do all my lab work here and I can be in and out in a matter of minutes - literally.  All records are maintained electronically too! As I've said above, we have been to the Watertown Urgent Care Center again and again and based on past experience I will never go anywhere else if I can help it.  The staff is WONDERFUL.  The facility just as clean as a whistle and not only have I experienced their care personally,  I have seen how they cared for my elderly parents and you could not ask for any better treatment than they received either - they were treated with kindness, dignity and respect and TONS of patience :)

    Crystal Run Healthcare Llp
It is a healthcare center so you can go and get checked out. It is a group of doctors and I go there for urgent care appointments. It is not a hospital; it is a clinic. They have all different locations; the one I go to is in Rockhill, NY. I have been seeing them for nine years. They are very accessible, they care, they are knowledgeable and there is a very short wait time. They are efficient, there are many doctors to choose from, it is easy to make appointments and it is easy to get tests done.

TRAVEL VOUCHER AND PRESCRIPTION . I saw the provider June 1, 2010, and called 3 times since to request an email or note saying he saw me that day and to get a letter from him to my prescription coverage plan to change to a med not on their formulary.  There was resistance about his emailing me, despite the capability being listed on their website. The provider did not have verify my appointment, anyone could have, including the people I spoke with on the phone. It's was over a month and they held up my June travel reimbursement form all June medical trips, plus that check takes a couple of weeks to get under normal circumstances.  The first person I spoke to June 1, the day of the appt.suggested I come in, makes no sense to travel 16 miles for this.  for a June 22 call, was told someone would email me after she said the provider  would call me and I explained I can't be reached by phone because I'm on dial-up and on the computer all day.  Her "solution" was to tell me DSL is available! That seemed unnecessary and patronizing.   My 3rd call was June 28 with yet another person who said she'd get a note to the nurse, I said no need, all I want is my appointment verified, gave her my email and the FAX address for the county office. was told by one of the people that I SHOULD have had it done June 1 when I was there.  That was an unnecessary critical and punitive remark that didn't address a solution. This delay meant that my credit card bill with the gas charges came out of my pocket and  delayed another trip payment. I really don't see why this inefficiency exists, that email, FAX, or snail-mail note should have gone out within a few days of my June 1 request.  ------ I wasn't charged a co-pay for my last visit. and they seemed to have gotten their act together judging from my last two visits.

Gowanda Urgent Care & Medical Center
This place is the biggest rip off! I can see why they didn't bother to rebuild the hospital devastated by the flood and built this place instead. First thing is if you walk-in with 5 aliments they will only treat one, and tell you to comeback again. I guess 4 more times! If your doctor happens to be in the medical center, in the same space, the entrance is not even separate anymore they will tell you to make an appointment with him. Then when you get the bill your in for a surprise especially if you have no insurance or are on medicare! Even though the TLC hospital emergency room is 11 miles away you will get a bill for an emergency room visit ( they are not equipped for real life threatening emergency's) and a doctors bill , not just a bill for a doctors visit. There are no signs stating this, and your not told of this before hand. Worst yet, if you stupidly choose one of their doctors as your regular doctor every time you see him or her you will get billed for a doctors visit, and an outpatient hospital visit! Your bill and co-pay will cost quadruple as a walk in patient  to TLC urgent care or triple the cost for a regular doctors visits at the medical center( same place) than it would be for you to see a doctor in a private practice and some other hospital owned practices.  It's a far cry for my past experience of going to a hospital owned doctors office located behind Millard Fillmore Suburban hospital for 10 years they where a state of the art teaching facility that attend to all your aliments each visit. Also I don't remember any outrageous bills from them only a $20 co-pay each visit. I don't remember any double, triple or quadruple bills even if I was a walk in and they where hospital owned. Even though they eventually moved their offices away from the hospital. I was wondering why my bill was so high for urgent care services. So I been doing some research. It turns out that medicare and insurance companies don't consider urgent care services to be emergency rooms. I also checked and Gowanda Urgent Care is not a  Licensed Free Standing Emergency Department by the state of NY. TLC is fraudulently billing medicare (upcoding) with the wrong code 99282 - Emergency Department Visit, Low To Moderately Severe Problem they should have billed 99213 outpatient visit 15 minutes or stretching it 99214 25 minutes which is 1/3 to 1/2 of what you billed me. Upcoding: Medicare A fraudulent practice in which provider services are billed for higher CPT procedure codes than were actually performed, resulting in a higher payment by Medicare or 3rd-party payors. See Coding, CPT coding, Health care fraud, HIPPA Act, Prompt payment law, Rebundling, Unbundling. Cf Downcoding. CPT Assistant states: "Emergency department codes require reporting for a specific location-the emergency department services not provided in the emergency department should not be identified by ED codes." The guidance goes on to state that a freestanding ambulatory facility or urgent care center visit is not considered an emergency department and that the appropriate codes to use for care rendered in an urgent care clinic are 99201-99215. Simply being a hospital-owned facility, however, does not necessarily mean that your urgent care center meets the specific criteria outlined by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for type B emergency departments. To qualify as a type B emergency department, the urgent care center must meet at least one of the following criteria: Licensing: The clinic is licensed by the state in which it is located under applicable state law as an emergency room or emergency department. Comment: Only if your urgent care center is licensed as an emergency department would your urgent care center qualify under this criterion.
