    Brandon James Construction
It was a great experience. I have been in my house 42 years and have done 5 major projects and this was by far the best experience. The house is 110 years old which adds challenges all around. Brandon communicates regularly. He comes when he says he will come and they are incredibly neat cleaning up every day before they leave. He is meticulous in his work that was no small task in a very old house and in spite of the challenges got everything to work. He does quality work at a reasonable price and he has a good sense of style and quality. He will be my go to person for any jobs in the future.

    Compass Contracting, LLC
Everything went very well. His work was very professional and neat. He answered all my concerns and questions and was happy to address any concerns that I had. He also met with my wife and I at different vendors so that we could select whatever products that we wanted. He was always on time and polite. And, at the end of the day, he fully cleaned up the work area. I would definitely recommend him and wish that there were more guys like him.

John & team were terrific. John was super responsive and accommodating with scheduling. The finished project looked great and my wife and I were very happy with the price quoted. Would hire again, no question.

    JG Construction
John is the best! He has a keen eye for projects both in helping you come up with your vision, as well as telling you how to accomplish it, what you're missing, how much it will cost and how long it will take. His crew is trustworthy, friendly, clean and efficient. The quality of the work is top notch and always at a fair price and quote. Happy to provide a more direct referral, so long as it doesn't interfere with JGConstruction being able to continue as my go to guy for additional work.

    Eli's Painting & Renovations Inc
Sadly, I did not have a positive experience with Eli's Painting and Renovations. This was my first home renovation in my first co-op apartment, done end of summer 2014. I got a full kitchen and bathroom gut renovation, a small wall extension and painting of my entire apartment. When speaking with Eli initially, he presented the work to be done in a professional manner and seemed pleasant. The price seemed good compared to other estimates I received and the reviews here on Angie's list were good. Good to note, I did have to provide my own plumber and electrician. Before demolition began, I provided the plans for how I wanted everything done. The kitchen was to have IKEA cabinets, Eli specifically told me he had installed multiple IKEA cabinets, so I thought the kitchen plans I provided would be followed accordingly.
After the co-op approval, renovations began. Work could only be done M-F 9a-5p as per the building rules, so I was never present. I was lucky to have a family member stop by once in a while to make sure things were being done as I wanted. Otherwise, the job would have looked even worse. Here are the highlights:
    - To fit the cabinets in my small kitchen, one of them had to be cut, all specifically written in the plans. This cabinet was placed before cutting. The guys had to remove it, cut it and place it back up. Eli was trying to charge me extra for reinstalling cabinets ($600!), even though it was known and written in the plans.
    - My new kitchen sink was all scratched up before it was even installed.
    - I purchased a brand new microwave, with no defects. When trying to install it, the guys somehow lost a screw inside the microwave. They had to open up the microwave to retrieve it, and in the process completely bent the bottom portion, now it looks warped and not new. My cabinets were also scratched up from the microwave install.
    - The panels that should cover exposed side pieces of cabinet were not used in the right areas (they were placed on top of the cabinets right up in the ceiling for some reason?)
-If you look at my kitchen now, it is very apparent that the guys who installed my cabinets never installed IKEA cabinets in their lives.
    - The sliding glass shower door installation. If I could have done it, I would have. The track for the glass door was installed wrong, there were holes drilled at the bottom of the track for some reason? You do not need to drill on the visible portion of the track. Additionally, water was leaking when I showered, more sealant was needed. After arguing, I was finally credited for the shower door cost.
    - The floor tiles were not even.
    - My brand new toilet seat cover was all scratched up somehow.
    - There were 1 or 2 chipped bathroom wall tiles.
    - Bathroom tiles went "missing" even though I had purchased more than enough for the size of my bathroom beforehand. I believe the crew lost or threw out many necessary pieces. I had to purchase more.
I do not believe Eli stopped by my apartment once to check on his crew and make sure they were following my plans, just the very first day and when the work was done to collect his money of course. I would call him and ask about the progress, he would tell me everything is fine. Meanwhile, my father would stop by my apartment and notice the crew not really knowing what they were doing and having to answer questions. Why was Eli not contacting me? It did not seem like he had any idea what was going on at my apartment. I just did not feel like he cared that much about the quality of work done, that's what made my experience so bad. He offered to have someone come back as many times as necessary to address any issues and while I appreciated that, his workers were very careless and sloppy, and I decided not to call him any more since every time his workers came to the apartment something else got damaged.
Bottom line: if you need a decent paint job for a decent price, go for it. I would not recommend this company for any renovations.

We found Juan from EQWIPT GLASS AND SHOWER ON Angie's List about 2 weeks ago. We phoned Juan and he was at our house for an estimate within a few hours that day. He was very professional, measured for new shower doors and answered all of our questions pleasantly and professionally! Today, he phoned us that the 2 new clear frameless shower doors, handle bars and metal plates were all ready to be installed. Two of his techs arrived on time, and as promised. They did an excellent install and even instructed us on what cleaning products to use and not use on our new shower doors. They carted away the old shower doors and cleaned up nicely. Very nice owner and techs. We are pleased with the job and would use them again.

Not very responsive after order placed... had to call many times to get an order delivery status update. Product is okay. Very "relaxed" store atmosphere ... sales associate was nice but not very informative. Will not give information unless asked.

On 3/14/12 spoke with Kevin Murray and outlined the work that I was looking to have done.  I wanted to have an attic stairs installed in another bedroom.  We discussed product, timing, finishing, etc.  We scheduled and confirmed an appointment to come look at the job for Monday, March 19th between 12pm and 1pm.  He said he would call if something came up.  Monday came and went.  No call was received and he never showed up.

    iPaint and Contract, Inc.
This is the second time we've used Glen Painting & Contracting in the past 7 months. This time we had most of the work done on our second floor.  Just like the first time we used them, they did an excellent job. The guys on the project were on time, quiet, and kept me updated on the progress.

We were trying to decide between purchasing all brand new doors for the second floor vs. fixing up the pre-existing doors and repainting them. They reassured me the old doors could be fixed and painted to look good as knew. I was skeptical about the doors looking nice but they turned out great!

I would definitely use Glen Painting again and recommend them to my family and friends. My in-laws already booked them for a painting project!

    Mr. Handyman of Nassau County
I spoke to John and Phil who couldn't be more responsive and helpful.  They sent over Brian to do the work, which took several visits, and each time Brian was professional, courteous and extremely helpful.  I would definitely use them in the future.  It was a pleasure.
