  • I could not be more pleased with Dominick's work. In the space of a single day he performed an impressive variety and volume of tasks. He is a very low-key gentleman who obviously values hard work over hype. He worked by himself for twelve-hours delivering the highest level of quality. After he had given me his initial bid, I added a couple of items to the scope of work, which he took care of at no extra cost. I cannot recommend Dominick highly enough and plan to use him for all my future handyman needs.

  • The old bathroom had to be demolished for a new one. I called four contractors and thought it would be tough to pick the right one for the project. To my surprise, it turned out to be a no-brainer to go with Arta after talking to the owner Andy. Andy has a straightforward style, very professional and experienced. My bathroom's layout has bothered me for years and Andy came up with a clever solution that no other contractor had thought of. Three of his workers are working on my project so far and they all working hard and taking lots of pride in whatever they're doing. Yanni's knowledge is vast while Peter is doing flawless, beautiful tiling work. Efficient, professional and diligent are the keys that set them apart from other workers I know of. I can't wait to use my new bathroom!

  • The company is not the company we've done business with in the past. This time, Mitch, the owner, gave us to a subordinate...a sales guy we weren't familiar with, Bob. Bob wasn't available for a little over a week to see us and give us an estimate. That's fine, we scheduled. All three other companies I contacted gave me estimates in 2-3 days. Again, this is Major Homes, so waiting is not a problem...they used to be 100% reliable and even though the price was higher, the work would be excellent. I had originally written an email to Mitch describing our projects, which included new basement and deck external doors, two basement windows, a new kitchen and new master bathroom. I said we needed the jobs to be completed by early October because we have a lot of activity in the home, otherwise it might have to wait until the Spring. Once Bob contacted me two days later - yes, it took that long to get a return call - the first thing he told me was, "Mr. Seltzer, as for your time frame for this....NOT GONNA HAPPEN!" Uh... I was stunned. Even if they couldn't schedule it, holy cow! That's how you speak to a repeat customer? He went on to insist that my WIFE be present, as he prefers it that way. My wife heard this portion of the call. She looked at me and said, "WHAT?" We were...skeptical at this point, but I said...it's Major Homes, let's make the appointment. So, Bob's first available appointment was about a week and a half later. No problem... annoying, but not a problem. He said he would be bringing a kitchen designer with him. I thought that was great. Ok. Fast forward to the day of. No confirmations, no calls, nothing. Thursday comes, I'm here. I was about to call them... but they said they would show-up between 12 and 12:30. So what happened? Bob called my cell phone - a 917 number - and, I guess...assumed it was my land line? Uhm...no... but whatever... he called and left a message at 11:28am informing me that he had "no way to confirm this appointment" and that I "must get back to him immediately." Again, what the heck is this? Some kind of job interview for me???? I called him back on his cell. I didn't get this message until 12:08pm. I cleared a solid 3 hours just in case - 12-3 - just for this appointment. He tells me, "Mr. Seltzer. You DID NOT CONFIRM THE APPOINTMENT. I've MOVED ON." So, I was quite upset at this point. I said that I had been there all morning. I asked why he hadn't confirmed the day before, or let me know that there was this confirmation requirement for the appointment. He said it was MY fault. This guy...is a horrible salesperson. I told him I'd be contacting Mitch about this immediately, and that in 17 years, I've never been treated this way by Major Homes. I called the office, got Margaret on the phone..explained what happened, she transferred me to Mitch, who put me on speaker phone and said he and Bob were there. I began to explain, he cut me right off and told me that "WE" left you two messages... and immediately cut him off and said, no way...there's no message on my landline, and only on the cell, and he wouldn't let me finish, so I just pushed through and told him that I've been bullied from the start. Wow... awful. Mitch basically strongly stood up for Bob's completely unprofessional behavior, attempted to 'manage' me, and lost a customer forever. He's never acted this way before, so...I have no clue why he would do this, who or what Bob is to the company, or why this is the new normal for Major Homes. So... what do you all think? Is this how you'd like to be treated? No, this is not a review of the company's job. It's me telling all of you how I was just treated, as a repeat customer of a company I thought was the BEST in construction in Queens. Based on this experience, I will never use, nor recommend them again. I have referred dozens of people to the company in the past. Most folks who know them thought they were expensive, but did a good job. That was my experience...about 30% above others. I like things done right, and a company to back up its work. That's what they used to do. Because of this salesperson, Bob, I cannot say that anymore. I felt threatened, bullied, and mistreated. It's unacceptable. Keep that in mind when looking for a general contractor. They easily lost a $30-$60,000 job. And they worked hard to lose it. Unreal.

  • Carl & his guys were terrific! George & Julio came on time everyday they gutted the whole kitchen they put up new walls, ceilings, cabinets and porcelain floor tiles. I have no complaints with their work at all. They did a beautiful job. Carl coordinated everything with the electrician and it worked out perfect. If we had any questions Carl called us right away. I will definitely call Carl again when we are ready for our next renovation!

  • All I have to say is "Andy is the best". If you want someone you can trust, someone who is reliable, someone who works hard, someone who does a great job at a fair price, then Arta Construction is the contractor for you. He is easy to talk to, unlike many contractors. He is honest. He pointed our potential problem areas BEFORE he started work so there would be no surprises in the middle of construction. He also gave us suggestions on where to go for bathroom tiles and plumbing supplies. But here is the important part. On the day he said he would start work, he was there. His men started early every day, between 715am and 730am and worked until after 5pm. He worked Monday through Saturday. He did not leave our project unfinished to start another job. And he was clean! We have had experience with other contractors who say they will take of the garbage. That usually means they bag it or just leave it by my garbage cans for me to deal with. I did not throw out one ounce of garbage, Andy removed all the garbage from the job. The job took 16 work days total, which is exactly the length of time he estimated. And the price he quoted for the work to be done, was the price for the job. There were no hidden costs. The bottom line he is someone you can trust. The house looks great and would be happy to use him again. If fact he is putting together another estimate on our next house project as I write this review. If you are thinking about any renovation project, you would be crazy not to call Andy from Arta Construction and hear what he has to say. I think you will be impressed and happy you called!

  • We bought our house three years ago and my husband has not stopped having work done to it ever since. Unfortunately, with every project has come disappointments... work took longer than expected and the quality never matched the price or promise. Needless to say at this point my faith in others, their work ethics, and skills were gone! We hired Narry and his crew to finish a job that was started and once again done incorrectly. I was so frustrated by the time they arrived at our home to fix a problem they did not create- I was very sceptical and not very welcoming ( guards fully up and ready to be disappointed once again). Narry and his crew has restored my faith in the fact that there are still decent, hard working, and talented craftsmen out there. We are using them again in the near future to not only redo some past work that was not done correctly but to also start and finish some other projects we have planned! Thanks Narry, Mathew, and Kevin- you showed up when you said you would, you took pride in your work, always remained professional and restored my faith! I love my bathrooom and everyone who visits asks for your info! Best of luck! The Khan Family ( Adnan, Joann, Lyla, and Aza)

  • As usual, William conducted himself professionally, providing a comprehensive estimate, performing the job within the time promised, and exceeding expectations in the finished product. The floors looked brand new and the freshly painted interior brightened up the previously gloomy apartment, which resulted in a speedy sale.

  • I was stunned when my apartment was flooded and had to renovate it entirely. Luckily the building manager recommended Matthew and he saved the day. Since I was totally lost having never had to face such a large job Matthew was able to walk me through it every step of the way. I don't drive and he personally took me to look at floor tiles, cabinets and carpeting, before he even had the job. His thoughtfulness, honesty and helpfulness made him the perfect choice for the task ahead. He gave an estimate which was within my means and we set up a timetable for the renovations. The project began on time and finished on time as well. He was always professional, upbeat, and took the time to make sure everything was done the right way. Matthew assisted me when rides were required for shopping for an oven, refrigerator, air conditioner and lighting fixtures, and vertical blinds. He was my advocate when a cabinet was damaged in delivery. He made my apartment his top priority and it shows. Matthew turned a daunting task into a happy ending. My once dull living space now has new colors, new floors, appliances, blinds and my bathroom is a showplace. I could not be happier with the results.

  • Everything went very well. The person who cam ,I believe his name was Marco, was very nice and professional. He worked the entire time and even made a trip to Home Depot to get a part that was needed. I was very satisfied with the work and would use them again.

  • We were extremely pleased with the work performed, the price quoted and the degree of professionalism demonstrated by the contractor and his team. The contractors arrived on time, performed their work and cleaned up after themselves.  After obtaining serveral quotes from other contractors, we hired Jason and his company to perform the needed work and are very pleased with the outcome.  The only fly in the ointment arose when on several occasions, I tried to contact Jason to discuss whatever concerns I had at that time. I had to go through the office staff, state the reason for my call and only upon his discretion would Jason return my call. This was quite offputting, however, this is my only concern with the company.  By all means, I would recommend Major Homes to perform any and all of your home repair needs.
