Home Inspection reviews in Freeville

  • D
    Tom Farrell Home Inspections
He did point out the many problems with the house, but rated the majority of them as minor and made an overall recommendation to purchase the house, stating that it was structurally sound.
Some of the issues he pointed out caused alarm in our parents and friends who knew more about these sorts of defects, and so we called in professionals for estimates before the close date.
It is a good thing we did, because by the end of that process, every workman we had in the house rated the same problems on a scale of  "very serious" to "extreme fire hazard" and "dangerous structural defaults." The house was actually a hazard to live in. It violated the fire code in three places (the chimney, the wood stove, and the furnace flue), and the roof had been leaking so long that the resulting decay meant that it was literally sagging and ready to cave in.
In addition to that, his report was not well-organized, missed some things he shared verbally, and included other things he'd not mentioned. It seemed randomly organized, and I had to go through it and re-write it to make it easier to follow.
