SOUTH SHORE PAINTING & PLASTERING CORP.
My husband Adam wrote a review earlier and gave this company a "B." Ever since I heard that I wanted to write my own review, as I vehemently disagree with his assessment. This is the second time we used this company and each time I would rate their performance with an A. This is a highly professional group. I have always felt safe with Eddie and his workers--I trusted him with my pets (2 dogs/2 cats) and 2 daughters (ages 6 and 18). I never hesitated to leave them alone to work independently. After working with another contractor for over a year, we were frustrated and disappointed that our basement was not complete. Having to endure a year of noise and dirt was finally unbearable and despite the fact that we had given the other contractor 35K we were willing to lose it all as we saw no way how it would ever finish. I met Eddie the year before when he came highly rated by my boss and we hired him to paint and do some light carpentry work before we moved into our new home. We called him up and showed him the state of our basement. Much to my relief he agreed to take the job. I think it is even harder to take over someone else's work rather that having down the foundational work yourself. He had to correct a lot of things that were not done properly and work with the supplies the prior person purchased. After 13 months of nonstop work with no progress, imagine my surprise when Eddie finished the job in three weeks. He did a great job and he took pride in his work. I am so happy to finally have this project done! I would love to work with him again if he will have us!

    Complete Carpentry
Chris showed up when he said he would. He's always on time. He installed the grab bar and ceiling fan very easily. We absolutely love the ceiling fan and it makes a big difference in our upstairs loft. We were on a time constraint as we had company coming to stay with us. It was important that both installations were completed by a certain date. Chris returns phone calls promptly and tries his best to accommodate schedules. He's very professional and does a great job!

This is the seventh year that Joe has made improvements to our home and we couldn't be happier each time a job is completed.
Joe listens to your requests and provides his honest feedback and suggestions.  Joe is fair with his prices.  Joe and his workers are meticulous in the services they provide and they care for your home as if it were their own.  Joe and his workers can be trusted in your home to complete the work, without supervision. They are punctual and keep to their time commitment.  Without hesitation, I highly recommend JMF Enterprises.

    Doug's Complete Home Remodeling Inc
Doug is an amazingly talented guy who happens to be a wonderful person as well. He designed and hand-crafted my center-hall colonial staircase. It looks amazing. He is such a perfectionist and has the patience of a saint. He clearly looks at his work as a craft instead of merely a job. We felt entirely lucky to have found him.

    Major Homes Corp

Joe Metelsky came to my house all excited about doing the reno... new kitchen, and new floors and repairs of the aluminum siding around where I wanted old window air conditioners taken out.

The original estimate was what I thought was reasonable to me,  he was in the low- middle end of all the other estimates...I was very excited about Joe doing the project...he seemed really into it and he knew exactly what I was trying to do. He said call him, give him a deposit, and he would then come and measure.

After a few days and talking with my husband, and reviewing all of our other candidates....we decided to go with Major Homes( one of the reasons I wanted to use them was that my home needed many more projects eventually...like windows, roofing, basement refinishing, bathrooms... you name it...and it seemed like they were the contractors of my dreams)

I then went to their showroom in Williston Park to see the Kitchen Cabinets we discussed...

I called Joe to come and measure...he shows up...to measure...AND THEN PROCEEDED TO GIVE ME A WHOLE NEW ESTIMATE OF THE WORK>>>>MUCH MORE MONEY THIS TIME!!!! Like 12k more!!!

Ok...so I ask the usual questions...why is it more? Because this time, he replies, he did not realize how much work it would be...etc.

My take is this: he made a mistake, and then wanted to blame me that I did not understand... then his attitude reared its ugly head.

Perhaps I was annoying him because I wanted to know why the estimate changed so dramatically.I wanted him to stand by his word of the original estimate...he said theres too much work, and the only way he could for the original estimate was if I chose cheaper cabinets...but he said he didn't think I would be happy with that.

We texted back and forth for a while...but I did not trust him anymore. Was the price going to change again in the middle of the work..?.Why did he feel he could have such a condescending attitude?  Then, when he realized that I was not going to hire him, he

asked that I give him back his written estimate....fishy, fishy , fishy...just like his handshake

I had the work done by someone else...am very happy...but now I need new windows, new roof and basement redone...sorry Major Homes.... gonna have to call someone else

Might I suggest that you don't give " Fly by Night" estimates! Give the customer the real price the first time ---and if you make a mistake, own up to it...don't try to blame the customer to make yourself look good!

Too much ego and too little professionalism!!

    Simon & Company Contracting
This project went as smooth as a project of this magnitude could go.  From start to finish (took a little more than 10 weeks), Jeff and his crew were the pinnacle of professionalism and cleanliness.  It sounds too good to be true, but they are the real deal.  As long as you have any extras that's needed to go in on the days that it has to go in, the job will go smoothly.  I contacted numerous references (six total) and all gave outstanding reviews.  You can not go wrong with Simon and Company.  I would highly recommend to anyone doing any type of job and I would definitely use them again in the future.

    J Morisco Contracting Corp Inc

To start with when Jim visited our home he thoroughly examined the existing plumbing, gas hook up, electric, flooring, walls an ceiling.  He asked questions to make sure we were both on the same page concerning what we wanted done, including some minor extras not related to the kitchen.  He produced a reasonable and clear written estimate that he adjusted when needed.  He was on the job every day from the demolition to the completed installation and saw to it that the work started on time and proceeded without problems or delay.  All of the trades were professional, knowledgeable, paid attention to detail, were very neat and did not rush.  My wife and I are very happy with the results and would recommend Jim without reservation.
