    Floors By D Best
I met Curtis of Floors by D Best through a mutual acquaintance who told me his work was excellent and his prices fair. From the beginning, Curtis was a pleasure to deal with. We wanted to install new wood flooring throughout the entire house so Curtis came by and measured for us, telling us exactly how much we'd need and where to get it at a fantastic price. During the install, he and his crew were completely professional and incredibly efficient. When it came time to test the stains, Curtis worked around our busy schedules to meet us at the house late one night to show us our choices. He prepared the floor and tested the different stains and, as a result, we felt very confident in our decision. Shortly thereafter, he sanded and stained the floors. I heard how dusty and messy this process could be but not with Curtis. He kept the dust to an absolute minimum and actually masked off all the new floor molding in the house. After all was said and done the floors came out amazing and everyone who comes to the house remarks how beautiful they are. We couldn't be happier especially since this is our first home. We highly recommend Floors by D Best for your next flooring project.

SOUTH SHORE PAINTING & PLASTERING CORP.
My husband Adam wrote a review earlier and gave this company a "B." Ever since I heard that I wanted to write my own review, as I vehemently disagree with his assessment. This is the second time we used this company and each time I would rate their performance with an A. This is a highly professional group. I have always felt safe with Eddie and his workers--I trusted him with my pets (2 dogs/2 cats) and 2 daughters (ages 6 and 18). I never hesitated to leave them alone to work independently. After working with another contractor for over a year, we were frustrated and disappointed that our basement was not complete. Having to endure a year of noise and dirt was finally unbearable and despite the fact that we had given the other contractor 35K we were willing to lose it all as we saw no way how it would ever finish. I met Eddie the year before when he came highly rated by my boss and we hired him to paint and do some light carpentry work before we moved into our new home. We called him up and showed him the state of our basement. Much to my relief he agreed to take the job. I think it is even harder to take over someone else's work rather that having down the foundational work yourself. He had to correct a lot of things that were not done properly and work with the supplies the prior person purchased. After 13 months of nonstop work with no progress, imagine my surprise when Eddie finished the job in three weeks. He did a great job and he took pride in his work. I am so happy to finally have this project done! I would love to work with him again if he will have us!

    D&L Hardwood Flooring
Normally I get numerous quotes from companies for every job I do. After meeting Jason and getting an estimate, I was confident I found the right company. He came right away, gave a fair price, he was honest and he took the time to answer my questions. The men that performed the work showed up right on time and kept the place impeccably clean even after sanding. Jason stopped by my house numerous times throughout the process to make sure i was satisfied with the job. Now my floors look great and I have a stack of D&L business cards to refer everyone who comes in my house and admires my beautiful floors. Ill be calling Jason and his crew sooner rather than later to refinish the rest of the floors in my house.

    Harris Floors Inc
I contracted with Harris floors to sand and refinish the hardwood floors throuhout my entire house. Due to some logistical concerns, the work needed to be performed in two stages; they were more than helpful and accommodating in working with me. As of this review, the first stage of work has been completed.
I don't mind letting everyone know I am very pleased! Management has been helpful, the work completed has been done in a professional manner, and the crew could not have been more capable and courteous. Without question, a job well done!

    Major Homes Corp

Joe Metelsky came to my house all excited about doing the reno... new kitchen, and new floors and repairs of the aluminum siding around where I wanted old window air conditioners taken out.

The original estimate was what I thought was reasonable to me,  he was in the low- middle end of all the other estimates...I was very excited about Joe doing the project...he seemed really into it and he knew exactly what I was trying to do. He said call him, give him a deposit, and he would then come and measure.

After a few days and talking with my husband, and reviewing all of our other candidates....we decided to go with Major Homes( one of the reasons I wanted to use them was that my home needed many more projects eventually...like windows, roofing, basement refinishing, bathrooms... you name it...and it seemed like they were the contractors of my dreams)

I then went to their showroom in Williston Park to see the Kitchen Cabinets we discussed...

I called Joe to come and measure...he shows up...to measure...AND THEN PROCEEDED TO GIVE ME A WHOLE NEW ESTIMATE OF THE WORK>>>>MUCH MORE MONEY THIS TIME!!!! Like 12k more!!!

Ok...so I ask the usual questions...why is it more? Because this time, he replies, he did not realize how much work it would be...etc.

My take is this: he made a mistake, and then wanted to blame me that I did not understand... then his attitude reared its ugly head.

Perhaps I was annoying him because I wanted to know why the estimate changed so dramatically.I wanted him to stand by his word of the original estimate...he said theres too much work, and the only way he could for the original estimate was if I chose cheaper cabinets...but he said he didn't think I would be happy with that.

We texted back and forth for a while...but I did not trust him anymore. Was the price going to change again in the middle of the work..?.Why did he feel he could have such a condescending attitude?  Then, when he realized that I was not going to hire him, he

asked that I give him back his written estimate....fishy, fishy , fishy...just like his handshake

I had the work done by someone else...am very happy...but now I need new windows, new roof and basement redone...sorry Major Homes.... gonna have to call someone else

Might I suggest that you don't give " Fly by Night" estimates! Give the customer the real price the first time ---and if you make a mistake, own up to it...don't try to blame the customer to make yourself look good!

Too much ego and too little professionalism!!

    Euro Floors LLC
Marcin and his team were consummate professionals. Arrived ontime every day, were polite and very careful with tools & materials (we have small children and Marcin was sure to safe everything off). They used plastic sheets to contain the dust the best they could, and fully vacuumed and cleaned the work area before leaving each day. Most important,  the floors came out AMAZING!  We will use Euro Floors again in the future, and recommend them to anyone!

    MR SANDLESS
First of all, I must note - I did not contract w/ the Staten Island office. I utilized a Mr. Sandless franchise on Long Island NY that is not listed on Angie's List. | | My project was to strip & refinish a staircase & handrails . The job was scheduled within one week, started & completed on a Saturday within four hours by the owner of the franchise & a technician - I am very impressed w/ the fact the job was done w/ mininmal dust & difficulty. I highly recommend anyone seeking a less expensive wood refinishing to seek out this franchise

    DUFFY'S FLOOR SERVICES
They were actually early for the job! The house was empty and the work was done after a new paint job and before moving in.
It was a two day process and the floors looked beautiful after they were done. I didn't go to check it out until 48 hours after the work was done, even though you can walk on the floor after 24 hours. But I wanted to give it time to set more. And we had the work done a full 10 days before the movers came. The only concern my boyfriend had was that the color of the toe-molding didn't exactly match the color of the floor BUT, the contract did not call for the molding to be polyurethaned which might have been part of it, and new molding is not 70+ year old oak so it is going to stain somewhat differently.
I dealt with Caroline at the office. She was always easy to contact by phone or e-mail. Responses to questions were very quick. Duffy's was recommended by the agent who sold us the house and who is also a friend of mine. They did her floors and she was very satisfied. I would use them again.
BTW - new paint job was not affected except for some wood dust here and there which was easy to sweep off and then wipe down.

    Euro Floors LLC
I am very satisfied with the job.  Although I had many staple & nail marks from the carpeting that was removed the finished floors look beautiful.  I had 3 estimates & Marcin was the only company that the owner actually does the work.  Marcin & his men were very professional, hard working & reliable.  The job took 2 full days as promised.  They were very neat & the waterborne product they used had no lasting odor.  I would highly recommend Euro Floors.
