DAVID SVANCAR Have you ever felt that stabbing dread of looking for a new contractor due to the sudden urge of adrenaline coursing through your veins - your body's way of preparing for the possible outcome of an extremely tardy delivered and appalling workmanship of an apartment renovation? Well, NOT with DAVID SVANCAR of CONNECTION AND CONTRACTING. Upon countless of interviewed contractors, I stumbled on Connection and Contracting (David Svancar). After he came over to assess the complete renovation I wanted to be performed on one of our floors, all of my nerves seemed to subside, as you can immediately tell, David is not one of those "shady" Contractors. He entered the property, assessed our situation and immediately provided multiple suggestions, a game plan, and told me this project could be done within the time I proposed of 4-6 weeks (pending the arrival of appliances, kitchen cabinets etc...). Previously, other contractors I interviewed were taken a-back when I proposed the 4-6 week aggressive timeline. Some even suggested that they would “squeeze in my project” with other projects. I reject that idea for many reasons. David, on the other hand, reiterated to me many times before and after the start of the project that he will never work on multiple clients at once but only focuses one project at a time to ensure the quality, care/attention and timeliness the project deserves. Additionally, his utmost professional behavior is coupled by the reassurance of his humor, attention to detail, identifying problems and suggesting multiple solutions. DAVID took initiative to enlighten me of ALL the possible ideas to make the infrastructure and aesthetic of my new apartment look amazing. His team would always arrive at the proposed time of 8am-4pm (Monday – Saturday). He and his team worked tirelessly on making sure the project made my family and me HAPPY. I genuinely felt that he was looking out for my best interest and that is all that really matters - an act of Altruism that is easy by definition, but difficult to execute. At the finalization of the project, David met the 4-6 week deliverable (despite the holidays of Christmas and New Years) and provided excellent quality work!! I really hope that you choose DAVID SVANCAR to help guide you in your next choice of renovation. You won’t regret it! I'm already in the works with David for other house projects!

Called Bill White on Thurs to look into replacing 2 skylights on roof. One was leaking so decided to replace both. Bill was able to come out same day to give estimate. Because both were standard size skylights, Bill was able to locate a supplier who had 2 available. Bill and his crew came out next day to install. They were very professional and knowledgeable. Prepped and cleaned up work site. Bill worked with me on price and we are very happy with the completed work. Would definitely recommend.

Mike Mucaria and his crew did an excellent job in a highly professional way. The roof installation was wonderfully done and the cleanup was perfect. The cost was reasonable and Mr. Mucaria is an honest man. His crew is courteous and prompt. I will gladly hire him again for any contracting job and I recommend him to my family and friends. You will be happy with the work if you hire Mike Mucaria of Prymas. Thanks Mr. Mucaria for a great new roof and skylights!

Excellent!! I’ve been a customer of Major Homes for 28 years. If you’re planning to renovate and want a fair, honest, competitive bid, I strongly suggest you contact Major Homes before awarding any contract. My first project with them involved replacing my windows and siding:  Major Homes was bidding against a vendor I used for similar work at my previous home. Mitch Kersch, the owner of Major Homes, provided various manufacturers’ product samples and took extra time to discuss in detail the pros and cons of each alternative and related pricing.  A portion of the back of my house is dormered. Mitch did not try to pad the job. He pointed out that the siding on the dormer looked to be in good shape and was a close match to what I selected for the rest of the house. In his opinion, it wasn’t necessary to replace. I gave the contract to Major Homes confident I was not only getting good value for my dollar, more importantly, confident they would stand behind their work. I’ve never regretted that decision. Mitch believes in developing long term relationships and really does stand behind his work. Some examples:  After a major storm a few slats in my siding came loose. Mitch immediately sent his men over to do whatever repairs were necessary. The repairs were done free of charge - this was almost 12 years after they did the installation!  I have a Pella sliding door. One of the doors came off track and I couldn’t get it back on track. Although Major Homes did not install the door, Mitch sent one of his workers over to see if they could help me out. His man did repair the door, at no charge.  Sets you up with local vendors offering discounts on plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, floor/wall tiles and appliances. (As compared to pricing I received from 2 major appliance vendors, I saved enough on my purchase of new kitchen appliances through Mitch’s vendor to pay for a 3 year extended warranty on all 4 appliances). Over the past 28 years, in addition to windows and siding, Major Homes has: replaced the roof on my house; installed a new front door; installed new heavy duty gutters and downspouts; replaced the sky lights and roof on a screened-in room extension to my house; totally renovated my kitchen and bathroom and replaced the wood floor in my foyer. Major Homes also totally renovated a kitchen and 2 bathrooms at my son’s condo. Mitch's project manager had to work closely with the condo's property manager, providing all necessary certificates of insurance and resolving a unique problem with back-flush toilets. Completed work had to pass an inspection by the condo's property manager. I don’t even bother to get competitive bids anymore. With Major Homes I know I’m getting a fair price, that the work will be overseen by a competent project manager, completed as scheduled by friendly, professional workers. I plan to replace the siding on my dormer next month (Sept.’17). Without hesitation, I gave Major Homes the contract.

Pre-inspection was professional - photos taken. Jason came out to the house later, explained carefully what needed to be done, showing me the photos - the roof had many layers since 1928 (about 2.5 inches thick), low spots, and incorrect gutter type for a flat roof. This was the only contractor with this comprehensive approach. Unfortunately, Jason did not have a sample of the roofing material to be used, which I've come to regret. More on that later. Later that week, firm contract in hand, I agreed to the go-ahead and made a deposit. Almost six weeks went by. I consider this a long time to hold my money. The reasons given were a back-log of work, the poor weather and ordering the skylight. Finally, one Friday morning, the supervisor called to let me know that the next day, Saturday, was the day! 8:00 am the truck arrived punctually and work began. Then came a bit of bad news - the dump truck for debris had broken down. They dropped a tarp, protected the house for the most part, and the debris piled up behind the house. The work went well - but my heart dropped a little when I saw the roofing material was not the anticipated heavy rubber, but thin SBS roll roofing. This material is ok, but only guaranteed for ten years. Because there was no truck for debris, another crew was sent to help clean up. That process took a couple of hours of extra work. They reloaded the truck with the debris, swept and blew down the area. The work was finished in one day as promised, and the crew worked hard. Although they cleaned fairly well, the next day I had to use a power washer for a more thorough job, and found about a dozen nails that could have led to tire damage where cars are parked. Overall this was a pretty good experience - the explanation very thorough, delivered what was promised at the best price I was quoted. I hope they buy a better truck.

They arrived on time, in the morning and were finished by noon. They did a little more work than we were expecting which was fine because we had neglected things for awhile and we were glad that they were so thorough. All work was explained so we knew exactly what was done. They were professional and easy to work with. They were neat and there was no mess to clean up. What they charged us was fair because it's been a long time since we last had our gutters taken care of. We plan to use Kamco regularly for all our gutter/roof maintenance from now on.

These guys are incredible. From start to finish, they are professionals. The price was right, the workers were polite and professional, they were efficient, and most of all, they do great work. I was nervous about replacing my skylight, but the fact that they stand behind their work for 20 years tells you they know what they are doing. HIGHLY recommend.

I purchased from Angies List the $69 skylight sealing and roof inspection. Mr. White came with a worker and an associate, I'm not sure exactly. After the worker was on my roof for less than an hour. Mr White and partner went up to inspect the roof, I showed them  damage in my kitchen and under my windows from what seemed to be water. They really didn't seem to know where the damage it was coming from although they noticed that my windows in the rear of my home were not sealed. At first they said the roof needed repaired and sealed, they quoted me a price of $4,000.00. When they saw that I was reluctant, they were persistent and were eager to do the job that day, that they had the availability  and said they would repair the roof and seal it for $3,200.00.
I said I wanted to shop it around but they were insistent and offered to seal the windows as well. So I agreed. I don't know what kind of repair they were doing however the worker barely made a noise. I think he just tared around the seams and the chimney. I then looked on AngiesList at the deals and found I deal for $1,349.00 which stated a "Flat Roof Revitalization" from Vandelay Contracting. This seemed to be exactly what I was getting and I confronted Mr. White, he said that the were some cheap contractors on Angies List and that he would be doing a quality job and that he was also going to seal my windows. He insisted I show him the deal which I printed out and showed him. I thought another $1,850.00 just to seal my windows and who was to say I was getting a quality job or this other contractor was not quality. I felt that very little was being done for what I was paying and I really needed to cut my losses at that point and said that I would pay him for what he had done and not to proceed any further. Mr White said he had done half the job already yet they had only maybe sealed the seams of my roof and chimney. It hadn't even been coated.  After going back and forth with him and his associate about what really needed to be done and what he had really accomplished for the price, I said fine I'll pay you $1,600.00. I just wanted them out of my home, but he insisted on finishing the job and coating the roof for the $1,600.00. A second truck came with the coating material and his worker went onto the roof and again I barely heard anything. He finished and I paid. I figured the coating needed time to dry so I waited before looking at the job. When I went up to the roof, it was not coat, again just the seams and the chimney were coated. I would never use this contractor again nor recommend him to anyone. They are high priced, dishonest and high pressure.

Mr Charles was friendly and arrived at my home as planned. He got his crew to start working right away, it took several hours to complete. Last September I had the the roof and skylight replaced by another non Angie list contractor and I thought my worries were over but, leaking water came in near the skylight and water was leaking behind the old gutter, leaving a nice layer of ice on the entire rear of my house. I paid 6 grand for that work. So far I haven't has any issues with the work done by Mr Charles employees and I'll likely use him again. My only con, I wasn't agog with the cost, but I needed it done and agreed. Note; I didn't get any other estimates.
