I've been slowly renovating my home over the past 20 years and have always used Metropolitan Painting & Contracting to do the work, which has ranged from room painting to gut renovations of bathrooms, kitchen, basement, window replacement, floor refinishing, roof & chimney repair plus other tasks. They are fully licensed, insured & bonded, so are not cheap. However you can be assured that the work will be done safely, correctly and up to code. And they clean up after every days work, so you can be in residence, while the work is ongoing.

DAVID SVANCAR Have you ever felt that stabbing dread of looking for a new contractor due to the sudden urge of adrenaline coursing through your veins - your body's way of preparing for the possible outcome of an extremely tardy delivered and appalling workmanship of an apartment renovation? Well, NOT with DAVID SVANCAR of CONNECTION AND CONTRACTING. Upon countless of interviewed contractors, I stumbled on Connection and Contracting (David Svancar). After he came over to assess the complete renovation I wanted to be performed on one of our floors, all of my nerves seemed to subside, as you can immediately tell, David is not one of those "shady" Contractors. He entered the property, assessed our situation and immediately provided multiple suggestions, a game plan, and told me this project could be done within the time I proposed of 4-6 weeks (pending the arrival of appliances, kitchen cabinets etc...). Previously, other contractors I interviewed were taken a-back when I proposed the 4-6 week aggressive timeline. Some even suggested that they would “squeeze in my project” with other projects. I reject that idea for many reasons. David, on the other hand, reiterated to me many times before and after the start of the project that he will never work on multiple clients at once but only focuses one project at a time to ensure the quality, care/attention and timeliness the project deserves. Additionally, his utmost professional behavior is coupled by the reassurance of his humor, attention to detail, identifying problems and suggesting multiple solutions. DAVID took initiative to enlighten me of ALL the possible ideas to make the infrastructure and aesthetic of my new apartment look amazing. His team would always arrive at the proposed time of 8am-4pm (Monday – Saturday). He and his team worked tirelessly on making sure the project made my family and me HAPPY. I genuinely felt that he was looking out for my best interest and that is all that really matters - an act of Altruism that is easy by definition, but difficult to execute. At the finalization of the project, David met the 4-6 week deliverable (despite the holidays of Christmas and New Years) and provided excellent quality work!! I really hope that you choose DAVID SVANCAR to help guide you in your next choice of renovation. You won’t regret it! I'm already in the works with David for other house projects!

Fabricio and Guilherme were great, very responsive to my concerns and questions. I had one room that was covered in a thick layer of glue from previous owners that had linoleum tiles under carpeting. They were able to remove the glue and refinish the floors. I was amazed. The color came out great too. Floors look new! Pictures are before and after. Would definitely use them again!

It went very well. It exceeded our expectation, In addition to all the work they did for us, they also did some extra repairs to the molding, floor and doors. They are very meticulous , on time, responsible, clean and easy to communicate with. They take great pride on their work.

My wife and I had purchased a condo in Elmhurst Queens that needed an entire remodel. We had to renovate the entire apartment by striping down the floors , walls , new recess lighting, plumbing and remodeling the kitchen and bathroom. We met Leo at a renovation project he was working on in WhiteStone. He showed us the work that was done and it looked very impressive. We signed a contract with him and put the down payment. We realize he didn't have a real corporation and he was using another company in flushing queens to get the insurance. We also realize that the house he showed us was in fact his own home. It was a bit shady but we decided to continue work with him and give him a chance since we already given him a deposit. Overall the work was very slow, and he was never on the job site. He would hire 1 or 2 person to do the work and subcontract the job to unqualified workers. The engineer hard wood floors his workers lay down looked good but when we were walking without our socks the the floors were spongy because he didn't level out the floors prior to glueing it down. He also didn't install the hood range with the proper sizing with the duct work causing the hood range to over heat 3 months later. I have tried contacting him numerous time but he would not return any of my calls. He is a very shady contractor that sub contract the work us to people from china. BE AWARE OF HIS SHADY WORK ETHICS & DON'T GET CHEATED. The overall job was 47,000 in just labor and not the cost of any materials.

I called about 4 or 5 contractors - got 2 or three quotes and only tully spagnoli came to see the place before giving a quote. Their price was reasonable and they were really easy to deal with and did a great job - if your looking to get your floors refinished I recommend them.

I hired Leo for a full kitchen and bathroom remodel along with additional electrical work and refinishing of hardwood floors for my Co-op in Forest Hills. He was very responsive, honest, and patient throughout the entire renovation. This was especially true during the Co-op management approval process which took many weeks - but Leo was always quick to provide any documentation needed (including plumber, electrician, and general contractor licenses along with COI's). The work was high quality and amazingly not stressful for a full kitchen and bathroom remodel. The itemized contract was straightforward, the partnership with a recommended cabinets/tile/countertop distributor was seamless, and the work moved along at a steady pace with consistent updates. A couple of very minor corrections raised with Leo were immediately taken care of without question. I would definitely recommend Quality Renovations. The pictures speak for themselves!

Excellent!! I’ve been a customer of Major Homes for 28 years. If you’re planning to renovate and want a fair, honest, competitive bid, I strongly suggest you contact Major Homes before awarding any contract. My first project with them involved replacing my windows and siding:  Major Homes was bidding against a vendor I used for similar work at my previous home. Mitch Kersch, the owner of Major Homes, provided various manufacturers’ product samples and took extra time to discuss in detail the pros and cons of each alternative and related pricing.  A portion of the back of my house is dormered. Mitch did not try to pad the job. He pointed out that the siding on the dormer looked to be in good shape and was a close match to what I selected for the rest of the house. In his opinion, it wasn’t necessary to replace. I gave the contract to Major Homes confident I was not only getting good value for my dollar, more importantly, confident they would stand behind their work. I’ve never regretted that decision. Mitch believes in developing long term relationships and really does stand behind his work. Some examples:  After a major storm a few slats in my siding came loose. Mitch immediately sent his men over to do whatever repairs were necessary. The repairs were done free of charge - this was almost 12 years after they did the installation!  I have a Pella sliding door. One of the doors came off track and I couldn’t get it back on track. Although Major Homes did not install the door, Mitch sent one of his workers over to see if they could help me out. His man did repair the door, at no charge.  Sets you up with local vendors offering discounts on plumbing fixtures, cabinetry, floor/wall tiles and appliances. (As compared to pricing I received from 2 major appliance vendors, I saved enough on my purchase of new kitchen appliances through Mitch’s vendor to pay for a 3 year extended warranty on all 4 appliances). Over the past 28 years, in addition to windows and siding, Major Homes has: replaced the roof on my house; installed a new front door; installed new heavy duty gutters and downspouts; replaced the sky lights and roof on a screened-in room extension to my house; totally renovated my kitchen and bathroom and replaced the wood floor in my foyer. Major Homes also totally renovated a kitchen and 2 bathrooms at my son’s condo. Mitch's project manager had to work closely with the condo's property manager, providing all necessary certificates of insurance and resolving a unique problem with back-flush toilets. Completed work had to pass an inspection by the condo's property manager. I don’t even bother to get competitive bids anymore. With Major Homes I know I’m getting a fair price, that the work will be overseen by a competent project manager, completed as scheduled by friendly, professional workers. I plan to replace the siding on my dormer next month (Sept.’17). Without hesitation, I gave Major Homes the contract.
