The garden shed was in dire need of repair. The siding had broken open in the back of the shed and the flooring was also damaged from rain that had gotten in. The doors were difficult to open (sliders) and were binding. It was looking like an eyesore. I contracted with Harvey to reside it with vinyl and new sheathing underneath and new floor, fix the doors so they would not bind and put in a new window for light and ventilation. Also I wanted to remove the old flat roof panels inside the shed that remained when the shed roof was changed from a flat roof to a peaked roof some time ago to access more storage area above. They began the work on time, when he said they would, and always called to let me know if there would be a change in his schedule. He always made suggestions to help with my choices and went out of his way and out of state to acquire the color siding I wanted, sitting in traffic the whole way back.. He was very accommodating and professional and took what was an old deteriorating garden shed and made it look amazing. I am so satisfied with the look and function of the shed now. It looks amazing!.

I found LI Shed Builders using an on line search as well as Angie's List. Angie's list

noted that they did not serve my area but I called and they do! I went out to see the sheds first hand and noted 4 seemingly small details that signified a quality product and did not hesitate to design my shed per my specifications. I had expected to have to wait about 4 to 6 weeks for the shed but was pleased that they were ready within 3 weeks. The two fellows who came were pleasant, professional and careful. The old shed was removed and the new one built in place.. I am very pleased with it both its appearance and quality and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends.

Mark took an old, really beat up, shed (rotted wood, crooked hanging doors and all)  and made it better than new!  He added all the "touches"! He even found an old plastic eagle in the eaves of the shed. He painted it black and added it to the front of the shed! He found us some "fancy" hardware to dress up the shed. He made my octagon windows! He did everything we asked and more and always with a smile! He took care of cleaning everything up. We are extremely satisfied with his work and plan on using him for all our repairs. Highly recommend him, but I'm hoping he doesn't become too busy making it hard to get him!!!!

He was a nice guy and did a professional job, but was a little expensive for me. The boss came out to look at what I wanted done; he was a nice young guy and followed up with a quote a couple of days later but did not follow up on his quote later. I might use them for an estimate again in the future; but, like I say, he was a little expensive.

Courteous but inexperienced crew installed the siding.  Unfortunately, it was not installed properly and started to fall off the house a couple of months later.  Repeated calls to try to get the situation corrected have, so far, failed,

My gas heating unit would not turn on in the beginning of the season. It is a steam system. No matter what I did I could not get the pilot ignited. The technician came on time and diagnosed the problem right away. He worked quickly and was very knowledgeable. He answered all my questions and am very satisfied with the service.

I signed a contract Nov 1, 2010 for a new garage to replace an existing garage that was damaged from the microblast that came through Queens in 2010.  The original garage was removed.  I was told the new  garage would take 3 to 4 weeks to be delivered that was in Nov 2010.  Then I was told due to the harsh winter it couldn't be put up. The next excuse was the company was backlogged with orders due to the harsh winter.  The next excuse was there was to much rain to put it up (April 2011) Phone calls stopped being returned by Artie Belcastro (owner). After that I was told his workers had fallen behind on another job.  I contacted a lawyer who sent a letter, after that I received a phone call the garage would be up latter part of week in August he would call with a date.  No phone calls to confirm.  Second letter from lawyer went out and then I got an email with a ship date of September 6 2011.  The garage was drop shipped to the home, I've refused for it to be put up.  It is nothing at all to what we agreed upon, in fact it is larger ( he had a copy of my survey and saw the existing garage and had pictures of it as well) He poured an addition of concrete and when I questioned the workers about why it was being done and it looked like the garage was going to be bigger, I was told that the garage was going to be  about the same size as the original.   My original garage was 10 x 20, the garage he ordered was 12 x 20 and is a metal industrial garage/shed that does not belong on a residential property (he took a copy of my survey the day I signed the contract).  The garage was actually  ordered in August of 2011(I have the copy of the purchase order) which makes everything he told me a complete lie.  I had to arrange for the pickup and return of the garage to the manufacturer.  My last phone discussion was 2 weeks ago (9/12/11)when he called me to tell me that he couldn't refund my money and that he would get another garage.  After that phone call, I followed up with an email stating I wanted to see pics of the new garage befor he ordered it.  I have not heard from him since.  Unfortunately, I made the biggest mistake anyone can make...I signed the insurance check over to him on Nov 1 2011 instead of doing installment payments.  Normally I wouldn't have done this, but Artie came recommended , he lives in the community and my son went to school with their children

As a landlord with many properties in Syracuse, Marty has done a lot of work for me over the years, and I have seen the work before, during and after it was done so I know what he is capable of. He could be a general contractor, due to his skills and knowledge, and just oversee all of the work, but for the most part he does a lot of the work himself. He has had a tough life and gone to the school of hard knocks, otherwise he'd probably be a wealthy contractor by now. Underneath his rough exterior, he is a solid guy who loves his daughters, and I consider him a friend now even though I don't need to use him as a contractor much anymore. In general his prices are very very reasonable considering the quality of his work and his ethics in an industry that lacks these qualities, so I would try to let him make a little money so he can continue in the industry and treat him right if he does a good job for you. You do need to keep tabs on him like any other contractor, make sure the work is being done the schedule you need it done (don't let him do other projects at the same time), and use common sense (pay him as the work is done and not all up front), but my sense is he has a good sense of responsibility and ethics and you will be happy with his work as long as you keep on top of him to make sure it gets done on a reasonable schedule.
