  A cozy hearth

  We purchased a 1950���s house with a gas fireplace that did not work. Called Brian, the owner of ���A Cozy Hearth��� fireplace and stove company. He came over a few days later, cleaned and adjusted our fireplace and we are have been enjoying it ever since. Very professional and reasonably priced. Five star rating.

  DB Pas'cal Chimney & Roof

  had partial repair and eventually complete replacement of chimney. Workmen left debris on roof and due to concerns that Pas'cals workmen might damage the roof if we asked them to come back and clean it, we had our roofing company send an inspector out who noted numerous shingles had been nailed into. This caused concern over the quality of the chimney and an inspector from another chimney company noted cracks between bricks, improper placement of the liner. Repair of the roof cost $1944 and of the chimney $3500. Contacted Mr. Pascal who only offered $500. He was rude and insulting to both myself and my wife.

  Mike and Claudette are great.  Mike and his son do the work.  Claudette takes care of communication.  Together they make a great team.  It was extremely helpful to be able to rely on Claudette to answer questions at any point.  She was very responsive.
  Mike and his son were punctual, thoughtful, careful, and did great work in accordance with the details we had discussed.  I was not located near the work site, and yet I knew what was happening and what to expect at every step along the way.
  I would recommend Mike and Claudette, and I intend to have them quote any future work I need done on the house.

  Genovese Home Improvement

  We came VERY close to hiring another contractor ( Company X) who would have done a decent job, I am sure. They are well respected in what they do best (Chimney cleaning,etc)  The problem was in the type of fireplace we had decided on.  Company X had two major lines, one that is world famous and another very attractive but seriously deficient in the technical things you want from a fireplace; longevity, amount of heat that unit puts out. It turned out to be quite a long line of deficiencies. Strike 1- Company X owner/salesperson never outlined technical differences, and since we are both engineers, this was a HUGE offense.  Strike 2-Company X owner stood us up twice, no phone calls explaining.  Just rude, and not unheard of, but still...  No strike 3, the quote was kinda high, considering the inferior product they offered.  So we pulled the plug on Company X and started researching gas fireplaces and after some serious educating which I can see we should have done first, we picked MENDOTA. We looked up dealers and Genovese was on the short list.
  Genovese was fantastic, from the minute we walked in the door.  I had called ahead for an appointment, they were very flexible and offered an early appt on a Saturday morning. Mark fired up a few units so we could see the flames and explained their business philosophy, --started out building sunrooms  ...& my apologies if I miss key points...., customers asked for fireplaces so they chose two very well respected 100+ years in operation, technically superior...etcetc.--  As he described what we should look for in a fireplace, he was describing the differences in the two lines he carried and we just looked at each other and smiled.  We ordered what we wanted, he was never anything but honest and friendly. He can by our house to measure and we gave hima deposit for the job.  As soon as it was received at their shop, he called to schedule.  Less than 2 weeks start to finish.  He did say it was weather dependent and the weather was favorable.  Finished in one day!!  great employees!
  One last major plus for Genovese, he pointed out that our town required a permit for the installation,  Company Y, the OTHER Mendota installer, when asked directly about the permit, said " no permit is necessary" very pointedly and clearly.  It was very obvious that the two other Company Y employees stopped talking and listened to his response to my permit question.  Obviously a touchy subject which could be very expensive and troublesome for me, the homeowner.

  Did great job, including fixing the damper. Inspection revealed that both chimneys needed extensive re-pointing. Made appointment to have that work done. All work done promptly, when scheduled, and very well!

  Initial work seemed fine.  Multiple contacts subsequently with good response initially , now with little or no response. I have requested follow up  do to a continued leak in one spot.
  Final assessment still can't be made yet, as I am not sure when/ if he will honor his contract???

  I did a lot of research in this area. Hearth Cabinets and more provided the best service, quality and price. I have ben using the fireplace everyday. Previously, when it was wood burning, I used it a couple of times a year and the heat in the house was going up the chimney.

  I am very impressed with the quality of service and the quality of people at Capital Home Improvement.  An ongoing but intermittent leak in my kitchen roof was really bothering me.  Capital Home Improvement was friendly and responded promptly to my service call.  They inspected my roof and chimney and were able to seal up the source of the leak.  I have not had any problems since.
