Pet Specialist reviews in Farmingdale

They are honest and reasonably priced. They are really good and they do not do any unnecessary services. They also work with rescue animals and they also do good services for the community. Once they gave me ear medicine for my cat, it was a double sized bottle for less than what I paid for at a commercial vet.

Brought my Pit bull Roxy to see Caitlyn. I dropped her off and was told to she would be done in 45 mins, went to grab some lunch and just as I was returning I got a call saying Roxy was ready to go. Roxy Doesn't like Baths so i'm glad that she had no difficulties with her and that Caitlyn wasn't afraid to bath her  which was also good because most people are a little afraid of Roxy.

I have been going to this vet for a year and a half. The entire staff is terrific. They are very friendly and punctual. I have not had to wait long in the waiting room. I have dealt with one vet and she was fantastic. They are very thorough with their exams and treat your pet like they are their own. It is fairly easy to schedule an appointment.

I have been going to Basic Pet Care for my animals' needs for over 20 years.  They have always been very professional and caring with all of my pets.    Dr Lugten was instrumental in diagnosing and successfully treating my dog with a life threatening illness recently.  We have  been treated with consideration.

The vet ran bloodwork in house, and took digital radiographs to try to find the cause of my cat's nausea. They got all the results very quickly and later that day had a specialist look at the radiographs as well. Everyone was very helpful and explained my options and the costs clearly. I was grateful that they were able to see my cat on such short notice and for staying in communication with me afterwards.

I did not board my cat there because, despite the fact that I liked the place and the people very much, I felt uncomfortable leaving my cat because they do not have any one there over night. They do have security cameras but I don't fell that is sufficient in case of an emergency. For example, I an animal got sick during the night or, God forbid, a fire should start, I would take too long for help to arrive.

He was very nice. He picked up on some of her personality traits and was able to take control of the pup easily. It was immediately evident that he knows his way around the canine world. He did, however , speak very quickly and spent a bit too much time pushing merchandise that he gets a commission from.

I've been with him now since 1989 and I love him, but unfortunately he is starting to go into semi-retirement. He goes away in the winter for couple of months referring you to another vet that he went to school with. However, he can be contacted if somethings happens even when he goes away in the winter. He is conservative and he doesn't tend to jump and do things right away. I had a very sick dog as he was getting older and he tried his best and he was up front and honest. When he did some of the tests, he said look, he's at end stage now, do you really want to do heroic efforts or do you want to let him go in peace? Unfortunately, some vets try to get you to do services that you really don't need, but he doesn't tend to be that way. You can walk-in without an appointment.

Our cat was brought in in respiratory distress. The vet on duty handled it as an emergency but did not do xrays, even after I pointed out a weight loss. The xrays would would show a cause different than what she believed initially. In fairness, she did call us early the next day to check on her condition and had us bring her back in immediately since the treatment did not work. This time she was x-rayed and diagnosed with a grave condition. She gave us accurate information about the condition and suggested a course of treatment. When we asked about possibly going to a specialist, she told us that would be expensive and did not refer us. We did not press her. When we went back for follow-up since our cat stopped eating, a different doctor was on duty- Dr. Wulforst. Dr. Wulforst was very thorough and caring and worked to help us save our cat's life- she called us on the weekend, allowed us to come up and get medicine when they were closed. She spent time with us and listened to us. She eventually referred us to a specialist where we received the right recommendation and were referred to the best surgeon on Long Island. Despite very grim odds, our cat is doing well 15 months after surgery. Our experience with Dr. Wulforst was very professional and thorough and really cared and I would recommend her highly. If I was rating only her , I would have given an Overall Excellent rating.

I like them because they are very genuine with my dogs. My dog loves them. They have a 24 hour emergency service. When my critically ill and they really didn't know what was wrong with him, they took full control. They were little pricy.
