Responded quickly to my call, started the work a couple days later and met a short deadline to get it completed before I had out-of-town company arriving. Worked on Saturday to get it finished for me before guest's arrival on Sunday.  Quality of the work was excellent, crew was very professional and worked well together. Would definitely hire them again. DK how reasonable price of work was b/c I was under deadline to get it done before guest arrival, but price was within what my insurance estimated work would cost. Normally I would have gotten a couple bids.  Was big relief to have the work done quickly and done right and be able to use kitchen again.

In the summer of 2016, I bought a home (100+ yrs old) with gaping holes in the stone foundation, barn heaters on 2nd floor & mudroom and a furnace sitting in dirt that I was sure didn’t really work. Halco assessed the condition of my house, made recommendations and provided an estimate (including rebates). The cost was a real eye-opener, but everything was guaranteed. I was confident that they knew what they were doing, so I immediately went ahead with the entire proposal. Today, I can say I made the right decision. I now have a home that is energy (and financially) efficient, comfortable year-round and safe. All the proper permits were issued. Many thanks again to all the staff at Halco!

These guys were wonderful. They were extremely professional, and responsive. They were a pleasure to work with. I was especially impressed when a QC guy came out to inspect the work done about 3 weeks after they finished. Halco is a total pleasure to work with.

Everything went very well, they were punctual, polite and friendly and very considerate of my house. As they conducted the energy audit, which was very thorough, they pointed out areas in need of improvement and told me how to fix them myself or they could do them. Most I did myself, they found a slow gas leak and fixed it at no charge. Previously I had been given an estimate for attic insulation and offered the energy audit for $350.00 which would be deducted from any work I had them do, they also threw in thermal imaging a $100.00 extra at no cost. I knew I wanted to add attic insulation and their estimate was compatible with others, the energy audit being a big plus. We discussed the insulation options and I decided on the blown cellulose. The workers arrived at the appointed date and time but were not able to complete the job as they hadn't been given enough insulation. Two days had been planned for and they returned the next day and finished the job. They layed down plastic over my flooring and cleaned up each day, they also were as punctual, polite and friendly as the audit crew. The audit had shown a high carbon monoxide level from my oven, I chose to have Sears service this Kenmore range as they were $100 cheaper then HALCO. I was contacted by NYSERDA and asked if they could do an evaluation and follow up energy audit to evaluate HALCO's work, which I agreed to. HALCO then contacted me and asked if they could reaudit prior to the NYSERDA to make sure all was well. HALCO found that the range was still giving off to much carbon monoxide, even though it had been serviced by Sears, and offered to have their tech work on it at no charge. HALCO's tech came the next day and worked for several hours trying to adjust the stove before discovering the propane pressure was to low (something Sears Never checked), he adjusted it at the tank and then was able to lower the CO emissions to good levels about half of where it had been. NYSERDA came for their inspection and every thing passed with flying colors.

Job went very well people showed up on time, were knowlegeable and competent. Workmen were polite and very concerned about respecting my property. To maintain their state certification the job was evaluated by the NY State agency that has oversight (NYSERDA) and they passes with flying colors which means the work on my house was properly done. During the energy audit they found a problem with my oven giving off to much carbon monoxide. I had a factory service tech come to fix the problem and they could not (at a $140 charge), the people from Halco were concerned due to being check by NYSERDA to maintain their certification so they sent one of their people out who spent over four hours working on the stove, found and fixed the problem (the gas pressure was to low) at no charge. This is one of the best contractors I have ever had business with and I highly recommend them.

Excellent. The work was completed on time and to our satisfaction. The following month (which was colder than all previous months), our utility bill decreased by approx. $125. That was a very pleasant outcome. The sales personnel and installers were courteous and professional. I would recommend them to friends.

The original contract was for work to begin in October and be complete in about 4 weeks. Just before the start date, we were told something else had come up, so the job would be done in November and completed by Thanksgiving. That didn't happen. The start date was moved again; this time to early December with assurances that the work would be complete before Christmas. They did start work in December but it was mid January before the job was done. Furthermore, we had been told this job would be done personally by the owner and his son, but at the last minute, they contracted the work out to a private carpenter. The fellow who did this job was excellent. He had very high standards and consulted us daily about issues that came up or changes that he felt would be better for the job. He was careful and meticulous and did a fantastic job. The work began by gutting the bathroom. We were glad to have a second bathroom downstairs that we used during the entire renovation process. It took several weeks to level the floor and square the walls, refurbish the plumbing and update the electrical systems. The walls were back in just before Christmas. There was a delay over the holidays when no work was done, and then the final stages were completed in January. The room was painted and the new sink, toilet, tub, tub surround, electrical fixtures, and cabinets were installed. We had a contract for the work that was done detailing the cost of all items plus time and labor. We paid 50% up front plus money for the purchase of custom items, and the remainder was due upon completion. Everything worked fine until the end when we were presented an additional bill amounting to 15% above the agreed upon price. The explanation was that there had been cost overruns due to the complexity of the job. We had not been told that extra work was being done during the time of the renovation, and, with the exception of one small job we had asked to add, we had not approved any additional expenditures. I was very unhappy that the extra cost was sprung on us at the last minute. I believe that could have handled better. The bottom line is that the work that was performed was excellent and we are very pleased with the bathroom. I was not at all happy with the administrative issues (putting off the start time twice, running longer than promised including over the winter holidays, not consulting with us during the process about additional costs.)

The company is a full service organization that performed an energy audit paid for by the state of NY. Their staff member performing that work was efficient and informative. Following that audit, I signed a contract to upgrade the insulation in the attic of our ranch style home. Several weeks later a project manager came to look at our home and refined the work to be done, which included insulating vent tubes, skylights and other areas which are prone to heat loss. The work crew chief arrived with an trailer containing the materials necessary to complete the preparation of the attic to receive the insulation the following day. The crew chief discovered leaking around the joints of our air conditioning venting system and for a small additional charge, repaired that problem that had not been diagnosed earlier because the air conditioning was not turned on at the time of the original energy audit due to the low outside temperature at the time of the audit. The crew was professional and delightful. Extensive preparation was required because an air conditioning unit in our attic had to be accessible for servicing, which required building plywood dividers on either side of the access pathway in order to contain the blown in insulation. Using a combination of blown in cellulose insulation 14 inches deep and sticky foam type insulation used on air vents, skylight units and other areas of leakage, and in addition, baffles were installed to allow for air movement up around the joints of the walls and our attic. The job was completed, the service team cleaned up and departed on time.
