DNot so good. I have a visible scar on my forehead that I've lived with for many years but finally decided to do something about. Plastic surgery seemed like overkill. Dr. Debbie Palmer is affiliated with a very good plastic surgeon, and he suggested I talk to Dr. Palmer about laser treatment on the scar. She said that three to five treatments would make a visible difference and that there would be no scabs or blisters after the treatment. The first treatment was generally uneventful. The second treatment, however, hurt like h*** -- so much so that the medical assistant had to hold my hands down. (FYI, they apply an anesthetic ointment an hour before the procedure.) Dr. Palmer assured me -- rather condescendingly, in hindsight -- that the second treatment was no different from the first and that the only reason I felt a lot of pain is because my "hormone" levels were different. Well, a nickel-size blister had appeared on my forehead an hour after the treatment, the entire area was discolored with some scabbing after a day. The blister eventually broke but continued to ooze. When I called the office to see if someone could look at it, I was told I'd have to wait a day for Dr. Palmer or her colleague to see me... I doubt there was any lasting damage done (let's see what it looks like in a week or two), but in hindsight this was probably a mistake. She's not an M.D. -- which I knew -- so perhaps there was an error of judgment on my part too.

AEveryone from the e.r. Staff to ward staff were very caring and skilled. I felt like a VIP guest. I was extremely ill with sepsis and pancreatitis. I always felt I was in good hands. The nursing staff on 2 west was phenomenal for both my hospital stays. Each time I was later transfered to a larger medical center, Fletcher Allen in VT.

BDr. Monacelli removed the lesion. I have had no further contact with Dr. Silver, although I expect to return to her after the surgery heals.
I was concerned that the earliest appointment after referral by my family physician was about a month in the future. When you're told that a little spot might be cancer, you'd really like to have the specialist available sooner than that. As it turned out, the cancer I had was benign and the month delay probably didn't make any difference. But at the time that wasn't known.
Since I have not received a bill from Dr. Silver's office, I can't answer the question about billing and administration.

BDr. Clack took a decent amount of time with me and asked my input on what results I would like to see. He answered my questions and the treatment has been effective. Office hours are a bit limited, and the office itself is a little tricky to find, but the staff was friendly and helpful. I have seen Dr. Clack a couple of times and would use him in the future and recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking for a general dermatologist.

ARobert Horn MDDr. Horn was professional and prompt. The two moles were removed painlessly, and I was informed of the biopsy results (benign) a few days later. He gave me advice on having my regular internist check my skin for problems, and overall it was a good experience.- Lesli S.

AJosephine C. McAllister, MDI was really disappointed with the amount of time it took before I could get an appointment as a first time client - it took 2 months before they could schedule me!! But once I got in as a patient, I had a wonderful experience. Dr. McAllister was very friendly and asked about my history of eczema. She gave me a thorough full body check for any signs of skin cancer as well as any other patches of eczema. She promptly gave me a prescription and invited me to ask any questions that I might have. I was surprised by how quickly the appointment went but didn't feel as if I were rushed or unwelcome. My eczema cleared very quickly with the steroid cream that she gave me! A couple months later, my eczema returned to another area (my scalp); since I was unable to effectively apply cream to my neck, I called the office to ask if I could get a similar prescription in liquid form. They were very helpful and prompt in their response. I didn't even need to go in for another appointment; they simply called the script into my pharmacy. I would highly recommend her, despite the long initial wait. I will definitely go back to her if I have any other dermatological needs!- Lauren W.

ASouthern Tier DermatologyThey were very good. They just offered a lot of services. I don't know exactly what to expect from a dermatologist since I've only seen one every couple of years and they have been new to me. I went in there and they were like, "Do you want this, do you want that?" They will also tell you what is covered by your insurance. So I knew at that time what was being done or what could be done.- Nancy N.

ASilvers, Dr Kimberly J.Dr. Silvers removed the wart and told me that she thought it would be tested and come back benign. It came back positive for skin cancer, so I had to return to have a larger portion of the arm removed to prevent spreading. Dr. Silvers was kind, answered all my questions and then took off a little more of my arm. It was a little difficult getting an appointment made before 6 months, but there was no waiting at her office, and the procedure was done very quickly.- Cj B.

ASilvers, Dr Kimberly J.The exam was fairly quick, but thorough. Dr. Silver was very courteous and mentioned a couple moles to keep an eye on just in case. This was a positive experience and I will go back periodically to keep tabs on my overall skin health.- KYLE D.

AIthaca UrologyProstate cancer is famous for being slow and mild to the point that many people "treat" it by just keeping an eye on its progress and doing nothing therapeutic. Because my PSA had come up very fast, however, Dr. Husseini advised me that a biopsy would be a good idea. While he assured me that there was no reason to panic, he made it clear that the situation was potentially serious. When the biopsy results came back it was early in the day I was supposed to see him to learn what was up. Husseini and his office staff showed that they understood how anxious people can get waiting for such information, so they called me up and had me come into the office right away to learn the outcome -- which was not good: the biopsy showed not only that there was quite a bit of cancer there, but that it was a relatively aggressive form. I give these details to indicate what kind of situation that Husseini was managing with me --- it was bad news that couldn't be made pleasant or anxiety-free. I was very pleased that he took me (and my wife who is always there as observer and "advocate") through all the details of the biopsy findings, explaining how they are arrived at and what their potential meaning is. When we were done, I wasn't happy with what was happening to me but I was very reassured that I knew everything relevant to the matter. One of the main topics was the treatment options that are available, and he not only explained them but also made arrangements for me to talk to specialists in each of the options. Once I selected my treatment (which was in Rochester), I left Dr. Husseini's direct care. If I have any urology-related problems, I will certainly return to him for treatment. I imagine that some patients may not feel that Dr. Husseini's "bedside manner" is friendly or personal. I found that he didn't spend time in "small talk" but used every moment available to convey information and answer my questions. He was clearly well informed of my case at all times and didn't have to read reports while in my presence. And, he anticipated my feelings by providing very clear and understandable information as promptly as possible. For my part, I was reassured that this is a doctor who shares my idea of what the important things are.- Andrejs O.

ASilvers, Dr Kimberly J.Great! Loved the easy access location, modern office environment and friendly staff! Might take a while (few months wait) to get in with them but they were wonderful.- A D.

ASilvers, Dr Kimberly J.She did a good job. She was very knowledgeable with the dealings of the skin. I had been to an allergist who misdiagnosed the rash that I had on my face and when I walked in she exactly knew what it was. She had it diagnosed when I just walked into the hall then she gave me the medicine that I needed and it cleared up and went away. She was spot on.- Theodore T.
