    Mark Skloda Moving & Trucking
Mark and his team were top notch. He moved our Mom from syracuse to an active retirement community in Albany area (closer to family.) He was very personable, professional and provided a detailed quote after reviewing our move needs on site at the townhouse. His quote was reasonable and the best quote we received price-wise. He said he's been doing this for over 40 years and his 2-man team of movers have been with him for quite a while and are very experienced. They completed the move flawlessly. Nothing was damaged or broken. They took great care in what they did and it showed. On top of that, he charged us LESS than he quoted! He said we boxed and labeled everything so well that it made their job easier and so he'd charge less. When does that ever happen! I 100% recommend Mark and his team - they were great!

Unfortunately, The tenant move his owner stuff. But Mark call back quickly, price lower, and willing to do a move over a roof because the item was too big. The other people did not want to talk about or over charge me. Even though he did not do the work. He was very professional and patient.

Prior to hiring, I inquired about the cost to store items for a few days if our closing was delayed. I was informed that if it was just for a few days, they would leave all items on the truck and rent another truck if they had another job- I would then be charged for the rental of the alternative truck. Very fair - estimate to move was around $2,500 and the estimate to rent a truck was a few hundred dollars. The actual move went fine with no real concerns. Staff were pleasant and hard working. There was a delay in closing by 2 days. After the items were moved from the truck to our new home, I was given a bill for over $5,000. The owner stated that they couldn't rent another truck due to tools they needed being in the original truck. I repeatedly explained that this was not what I was originally told, but with out success. The owner stated that I was being charged for an extra 8 hours due to his staff taking all the items off the truck (so they could use it) and then placing it back on the truck. Frustrating experience.

This was the best move we've ever had.  And we've had many - both domestic and international.  We began by meeting the Pelligra Company Director, Tom Pelligra, in his office on New Court Ave in Syracuse in early June.  Before our visit we had emailed him an inventory of our household furniture and belongings.  In his office, Tom explained the full details of the service he would provide and how the cost would be calculated.  He asked some questions.  Then said he had all he needed.  He asked us to choose the date we wished to move.  We did - 23 June. The meeting took less than 30 minutes. And all was settled.  Tom was very courteous and polite.  His office manager, Winston, was also very kind and friendly.  We left believing we were in good hands.
The day before the move, 22 June, Tom phoned us to confirm the movers and truck would arrive at our home in Ithaca around 8 am on 23 June.
The truck (a big moving van) arrived just before 9 am.   They had encountered major backups on I-81 due new construction there.  The three-man crew came in and introduced themselves to us.  Leader Todd and Nick and Jose.  Todd was a very experienced mover - he said he'd been with Pelligra for 16 years.  And Nick and Jose were professional experienced movers too.  They were an awesome team.  They did a walk thru of our home to make a quick plan for loading their big van.  And then they went straight to work.
They worked quickly, efficiently, smoothly.  They were cheerful and friendly.  They went out of their way to protect our furniture - no scratches, no damage.  They carefully handled more than 20 large pieces of art work (paintings) we've had for years. The carried a very large heavy Stickley China Cabinet from the second floor down to their truck.  They moved the washer and dryer.  A big treadmill and exercise bike.  Televisions.  And much more.
They packed the moving van carefully.  Amazing to see how they protected the furniture and secured everything firmly in place.  This is what you want when you move.  No rocking and sliding in the Pelligra van.  Everything is protected with padding and held firmly in place.
The house (a 3-bedroom townhouse) was emptied by 1200.  Just three hours of work for this three-man crew.  Absolutely amazing.  And they were all still smiling.  They were courteous and polite in every interaction they had with us.  Everything was completed in an outstanding manner.  Todd confirmed we had cell phone communications - in event either of us had a problem enroute to our new house in Syracuse.  Todd even taught us a new short cut to our new home!  And he told us how to avoid some of the construction zones on I-81.
We arrived at our new Townhouse in Syracuse just after 1300 and the Pelligra van arrived about 15 minutes later.  Todd knows all the roads very well.
They did a walk thru of the new house to see where things would go.  And then to work.  Polite and courteous - above anything we have seen.  Patient with us - asking where would you like this to go.  Helping us put the felt pad protectors on the heavy furniture - the house has beautiful hardwood floors.  Moving beds and big dressers up to the bedrooms on the second level over a narrow stairway with a difficult 180-degree turn halfway up.  And setting everything up for us.  Nothing half done.  They went 'above and beyond' normal expectations.   We had things going to three levels:  Basement, ground floor, and second floor.  Our boxes were clearly marked and the moving team put them in the proper locations.
The truck was emptied and our belongings were 'settled' in the new home by 1630 - just three hours of work.  This was truly the best move we have experienced.  We are deeply grateful to Director Tom and the three men who moved us from Ithaca to Syracuse.  We believe we were very fortunate to have Todd, Nick, and Jose for our moving team.  We felt they really cared about us and our belongings.
We hope we will not need to move again soon.  But, if and when we do move again, we will surely return to ask Tom to take us on again.  Well done, Pelligra!

It was a cold rainy day when the two young men arrived. They carried the the loveseat onto my porch from which they entered my living room without making any effort to place any protective covering over their muddy work boots. As a result they tracked mud onto my almost new living room rug. When I pointed this out, I was told "Sorry, but you should have said something." (As they were entering I was involved in keeping my three toddler grandsons whom I was babysitting that day away from the doorway and out of harm.) These young people work for a professional moving company and should have known better.  And, when I asked one of them for the phone number of the moving company so that I could contact the owner, he would not provide it-- Instead he kept insisting I was to blame for  apparently failing to inform them that I'd prefer they don't track mud in.  Finally I had to tell them to leave.  I later accessed the number and contacted the moving company but this matter was not resolved to my satisfaction.  I was basically told that they were sorry.  Afterward I spent the better part of the next hour shampooing the stained section of my rug.

They were wonderful. They did an excellent job of getting everything in the trailer. The men were really nice and polite. You could not ask for anyone better. The price was competitive and they got the work done in a timely manner. There was also nothing damaged after our 400 mile trip.

    Wheaton World Wide Moving
From start to finish, they did a great, professional job with a wonderful attitude. Representatives from both Wheaton and their local agents contacted me regularly to check on the progress of the move and my satisfaction with it. On the few occasions when I needed to contact them, I was able to speak with a person immediately rather than having to wait on "hold" or wade through seventeen levels of a phone tree to get to an operator. The guys who did the actual move were amazing! They were patient, flexible, and very understanding about the level of chaos that existed in my home. They came prepared for contingencies I hadn't anticipated and added a stop at a new storage unit at the last minute with only a minimal additional fee. By the time we finished the move, I was sorry to see them go! I have rarely been this happy with a service provider, much less a set of service providers coordinated through central agent (Wheaton). People have described Wheaton as relatively high-priced compared to other moving companies, but this was not my experience. I obtained quotes from another large, national moving firm for that came in at almost double what Wheaton charged me, and for fewer services. A friend of mine has a fairly difficult move planned in the near future, and he has already decided to use Wheaton based on what he saw of my experience with them. Wheaton provides friendly, extremely competent service at a very reasonable price.
