    MELFA'S Home Improvement
When I purchased my first home, I was truly captivated by the charm that my 1940s house possessed. The one area that was lacking was the bathroom. While it had been updated sometime in the distant past, it was tiny and lacked a shower. Unfortunately, this was no easy task, as I became aware that all the plumbing was original to the house, and in very poor condition. This was a much larger project than I had anticipated, and since I was already unhappy with the appearance of the bathroom, I decided to hire a contractor. This was not an easy process; many contractors would only renovate a minimum of two rooms at a time, others were not available for several months. When I met Mark, I knew instantly that I wanted to hire him. He asked me a lot of questions about the direction I wanted to go in rather than talking at me. I felt as though we were collaborating, which was in sharp contrast to other contractors who were flashy and clearly trying to persuade me to quickly sign a contract. Mark patiently answered the many questions I had and came across as being very knowledgeable in dealing with older, charming houses such as mine. I was reassured by the fact that he would be performing the work himself rather than subcontracting it out to people who might not be as experienced. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, I actually began to feel excited about the remodel process! After starting the project, Mark kept me well-informed about where he was in the process after I arrived home every evening. The project took a little longer than anticipated due to issues with the aforementioned original plumbing, years of shoddy repairs by the previous owners, and a water heater that should have been on display in a museum rather than in my basement. Mark was able to show me what the issues were, and always asked me how I wanted to proceed; he is a perfectionist and always handled these snags in a professional manner with ease. This was in addition to taking care of recurring unrelated issues in other areas of my house outside the scope of the original job. In the end, I really do have the bathroom of my dreams and it is my favorite room in the house by far. This includes the new lighting, fixtures, vanity, and toilet that I can see and enjoy for years to come in addition to all the work that I cant see behind the beautiful tile work he did on the walls and underneath the floors. The bathroom is now consistent with the period details throughout the rest of the home but with the modern conveniences previously missing. Mark obviously takes great pride in his work and I could not be happier with the results!

Dave always shows up pronto and fixes it -- two thumbs up. On this visit, he helped us begin to handicap-access the house for an elderly relative who suddenly lost the ability to climb stairs anymore, so time was of the essence. Dave came quickly and accomplished the most essential needs i.e., installing grab bars in the bathroom, and opening a door between the front and back of the house so as to avoid all stairs. The door hadn't been opened in decades, and was actually sealed shut, so it wasn't a straightforward task. He worked carefully and succeeded without damaging door or wallpaper. Very pleased!

The designer is actually a person that works for a kitchen remodeling company and they contact you to come in and look at cabinet and counter top samples.  Im not anywhere near ready to remodel and only wanted to get design ideas.  If I had known I was going to have to go somewhere to look at stuff Im not prepared for then I would not have purchased this.
That being said - I did go to Tony's designer and spoke with Susan and looked at samples, corrected some information that Tony gave her that was not right and she said she should have my drawings within a week.  That was in November.  I contacted Tony in December and asked how my drawings were going and he said I would be contacted by a different designer.  I was contacted by him in late december and did not respond.
I work full time and weekends - I do not have time to be going places to look at samples - I could do that at Home Depot for free and probably would of had more accurate measurements.
Tony is a really nice guy - but this deal - isn't!

    ROCHESTER RENOVATION
Chris was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process.  The work he does is excellent and very thorough.  Any issues that came up he just handled them which was nice.  He was very good about communicating with me throughout, offered excellent suggestions, and always a pleasure to work with.  I would highly recommend Rochester Renovation and would definately hire again!

Four Points Remodeling & Design Center
I met with Jim Montgomery with Four Points Remodeling and Design Center three times, once at my house. He gave one a few quotes, gave me samples of quartz to take home. He suggest that i go look at surfaces to see the quartz slobs as a larger size. Everything went as planned with Jim being there even for the measurement of the slot. Tom, the installer with Four Points Remodeling and Design Center was top notch. Everything in my kitchen was left in 100% order, immaculate. I was 150% pleased, especially because Jim Montgomery would give one thing to think about, "do you like this or that" 150% perfection.

    A Best Construction Inc
Took about two weeks from start to finish. Professional attitudes.  Very friendly and responsive to options desired. They were very helpful in addressing existing issues and fixing them (old plumbing that needed to be replaced and upgraded, labeling all new shut-off valves, suggesting fixes and upgrades during the process. For example, while they were redoing some of the bathroom plumbing they noticed that I had an older outdoor faucet.  They suggested that, if I were to buy a new, freeze-proof faucet for my back yard, they would install it for me because they were already replacing the existing plumbing in that area).
They did a great job in trying to minimize the dust and dirt in the house as well.  The tear out was very messy (this was the original bathroom from the 1950's) and they helped to tape off rooms and put up plastic to minimize the dust that would deposit around the house.  They showed up promptly in the morning and asked that I be there every day or whenever possible to check every detail to be sure that I was getting exactly what I wanted.
The Approximate Cost provided was for labor only.  I purchased all of the materials myself (excluding drywall, any adhesives or thin set,
screws/nails/etc., and the dumpster used to hold all of the debris)
I would use A Best Construction again and I would recommend them to people I know as well.

    BCD Home Improvements, LLC
I scheduled an estimate for  2 bathrooms and a kitchen that needed remodeling. Brandon from BCD Home Improvements arrived at the scheduled time. As I showed him the areas that needed remodeling, I sensed only disinterest from him. He didn't seem very attentive to my description of what I needed done. He seemed like he couldn't wait to get out of here and go on his merry way.
At any rate, he did promise to send me an estimate within a week. The week passed and, realizing things come up and he might have been delayed in providing the estimate, I sent him an email 2 weeks later asking for an update on the estimate. I got no response from him. As far as I'm concerned, this behavior is a total lack of professionalism. Considering the absence of any communication from the company, I don't know what other conclusion I can reach.

    BRYCE & DOYLE
They were sort of on the higher end but they were absolutely excellent.  They had an architectural drawing of the kitchen in all and we agreed to the plan and they to our needs.  He was so well organized he knew every day what should be done in a day and he would come by every day to check and make sure that the work was done.  He had a master carpenters working and they were all the best.  They were all at the top of their trade.  The thing I liked about them is that the guy who was in charge, he came by every single day and made sure that the work was done and done on time.  He hit the price right on the head.  He was right on the price he quoted and he was very close maybe a $100 off.  He was always reachable and we were able to get him on his cell phone.  It took him 5 weeks to the day to complete the job.  But they did a complete tear down of all the plaster, the ceiling, re-did the siding on the one side of the house because it had wood siding.  My wife and I could not react because we had heard so many horror stories about how the work is never complete. When it was done there was nothing to call back.
