House Painting reviews in East Rochester

Pittsford Painting And Home Improvement Co
Mark was somewhat unprofessional from the beginning. When we initially met, he arrived 10 minutes earlier than our agreed upon time and called us angry that we weren't home. We decided to continue to stick with him. We needed an interior wall repaired and painted along with exterior painting/stucco and wood repairs on our tudor home. The initial request was the interior wall repair and painting. We chose to keep the original color which was a suede paint. When the job was complete, only the damaged portion of the wall was painted so it appeared very uneven. Our white built in shelves had the suede paint all over them and there were still white blotches on the wall from the repairs. We emailed Mark and requested they fix these issues which he did. It appeared much improved. Mark blamed the job on the suede paint but he had known from the beginning that was what we were requesting and never said there was an issue until afterwards. For the exterior, our issues were peeling stucco and rotting wood. Most of this stemmed from clogged gutters which Mark appropriately identified and cleaned out for us/repaired. Unfortunately, the stucco repairs were horrible. There was one portion of the home where they attempted to re-apply the stucco that was much thicker than the rest and appeared as a large square patch. Mark did not mention before committing to the job that he was unable to apply stucco and so, I took this as him practicing out of his scope. Mark also identified some chimney issues and we agreed for him to go ahead with the repairs. He told us these repairs would last us 8 years. It didn't take long (5 months) for the paint to start peeling again and for the chimney from the exterior to start cracking/crumbling. We found pieces of cement and stucco all over our garden that spring and asked Mark to come back after paying him a significant amount of money. After several emails back and forth without responses, we decided to have someone else come fix his mistakes. We are very happy with the work we received from the other company. They reported "Last Stucco Contractor - This person's repair job created the bulk of the mess that exists. Before he started, he should have assessed the main root of the water problem being the upper part of the chimney allowing the water to infiltrate before he covered it with new stucco. His process of application caused an even bigger problem. He used a Ramset nail gun to secure a mesh lathe to the original stucco of the chimney. This caused and created an abundance of new fractures to the stucco below allowing huge amounts of water to penetrate. See pic # 2127 & 2128 showing the the original coat of stucco below the last contractors. The fractures from the driven nails went all the way back to the original brick of the chimney causing them to separate with the freezing temps. I could originally see the needed replacement of the exposed 7ea rows of bricks before I started the project, but the last stucco job hid the unforeseen 20 plus rows of brick that had been destroyed. Ultimately the work by this person turned this into a complete removal of both his and the original layer of stucco back to the brick on the whole chimney." Mark seemed to have a lot going on with his personal life, giving us several excuses for his delayed responses. My advise to Mark is not to commit if it is out of your expertise or if you have too many things going on in your personal life and are unable to balance that with the job.

    Herington Painting

This was a rare experience: an honest, trustworthy guy with a no-holds-barred work ethic, proficiency at the top of his craft, a whiz at scheduling, and a talent for putting you at ease. I?m an elderly female maintaining two ancient small cottages, so I?ve hired a lot of workmen over the years, some fine, some not so fine. If I made a list, Kevin Herington would be Number One. Of everything that?s a stand-out about this team, I was most grateful that Kevin didn?t treat me with condescension for being an old lady -- that told me everything I needed to know about his character. His respect for his crew and concern for their welfare demonstrated the same impressive integrity. In response, they see the job through with enthusiasm and heart. I felt they gave my little house the same ?cadillac? treatment they give to East Avenue mansions. Kevin kept me posted about wood that needs replacing, and made sure the windows weren?t painted shut before he left. Some unusual prep included removing ivy vines that grow up the walls, which they did with diligence and without uprooting any. It turned out a stress-free experience, which is a first for me. I?ve never seen anyone work so clean. It was actually fun having them around, and I was sorry to see them go. The house looks better than it ever has; it positively sparkles. Because the prep was so thorough, and the paint top-notch quality, and the care lavished on the work so exquisite, I?m confident it will hold up.

They did a great job. They were upfront about all the pricing and they came within the estimate that they gave us. They were done a little bit ahead of schedule. They did great and we were happy with the price. They were good with responsiveness. They were always there very early in the morning before we could even leave for work. So they did great.

    CertaPro Painters of Rochester Southeast
It went great! They were very attentive to our special needs, the guys guys came in after the kids went to school so they didnt disrupt our morning routine. Worked hard everyday, and even put the furniture back every single day after they wrapped up. They cleaned up every day. If I saw anything that needed attention they took care of it right away.
Very very happy, its nice to be able to have folks that you dont know very well come into your house and have an immediate and lasting sense of trust, very rare.
They stripped wallpaper in a couple rooms and uncovered quite a bit of nastyness behind the paper. Lots of cracks and digns etc etc. I was surprised at how well things turned out after they finished, I cant believe how much they got things smoothed out, couldnt be happier.

    Gerlach Home Improvement
They were absolutely terrible. I came home and they were already painting. They had about 10 college kids working. I could tell that they weren't regular painters. They made a mess. A year later everything started peeling. Even the garage started peeling because they must have used water with the paint. I called the guy and he told me that the paint was only guaranteed for a year. They didn't brush it on but they sprayed it on which they didn't tell me. They were horrible. I was stuck because when I came home they were already painting. They were using some of my equipment like the ladder and a plank. One of the kids was painting the plank and writing all the stuff on it. I was very upset with him. I thought they did a horrible job. The price was cheap. They were straggling. One of the times some guys were late. They were all college kids. They weren't excellent painters. I never saw them after they finished the job. They has some informant come out.

    Frankel Painters
They have a crew of 4 painters that he is in charge of. They are non-stop. They come in and they start the job. They were much better than the other person. The other person I had him for years. I had to repaint after 5 and it was terrible. Frankel Painters did a beautiful job. All my neighbors loved it. Everybody that comes out says how beautiful the house is. They did an excellent job inside the house. They put charts on the floor. I didn't get any paint on it and didn't spill on the floor. The edging was right on and they did beautiful work. They were fast. I never saw painters so fast. I was stunned. I got lucky this time. I call them back all the time for painting. They painted the whole outside of the house and now I had them paint the inside of the house because they were so good. They came the same time when the kitchen was being done. They painted the living room, the dining room, the hallway and upstairs bedrooms after the kitchen. For painting the outside of the house it was $10,000 and for the inside it was $3,500. It was very reasonable. They started every day early in the morning at 8 or 8:30 and they stayed till 5 o'clock every single day.

    RONO'S PAINTING SERVICE
It went very well. We got the reference from a good friend. Then called for an estimate. He came for the estimate and listened carefully to the work we wanted accomplished. He explained in detail his process and gave a fair estimate. We had a few follow up questions which we e-mailed him about and he responded within a day with the answers. We were able to schedule him and his associate to start the following week. They showed up for work the first day and just started to do the work. The came and went for the next few days working as early or as late as they needed to accomplish their goals for the day. They were always very courteous and never interrupted our daily activities. They finished their work in one week, billing as estimated with no surprises.
