I cant even believe that I have to write this out right now. Friday night I took my dog Bella to the Bellport Animal Hospital, which I have had issues with in the past but I gave them the benefit of the doubt anyway. She was acting lethargic and not herself, etc. The vet did an exam, and advised that an ultrasound was needed to see if she had Pyometra which is a bad infection of the uterus. He tells us that this sonogram shows that she has it and that she needs emergency surgery to remove her uterus, that she may not make it through the surgery, and that its probably a few thousand dollars, but that we need to do it right now or she is going to die. Like at that exact moment. He didnt even take her temperature at this point so I asked him to do so. She didnt have a fever. Im thinking, my dog has an infection but no fever? Ok. Weird. He tells us that my dog wont make it through the night and we have to go to the 24 hr animal hospital to get this surgery right away. I freak out and we go with his word and get to the selden 24 hr emergency care. We start to tell her the symptoms and she says that the only real way to see if the dog has pyometra is to do an X-ray. (Which my regular vet did not do). I find that to be very strange that 2 vets say different things. THANK GOD I had a bad gut feeling and I call my aunt and ask her opinion. She tells me to leave the 24 hr place and to call her vet in the morning. Mind you, that the rest of the entireeee night I am a wreck thinking my dog is going to die overnight. I call the Hampton Veterinary Hospital in Speonk, they get me an appointment for Saturday. We tell Dr Wen Bellas symptoms and he examines her. We then tell him what the previous vet had said. He does an X-ray and finds that my dog DOES NOT have pyometra, but that she is CONSTIPATED! Constipated from the antibiotics that the Bellport vet had given her two weeks ago! THATS ALL!!!! I almost put my dog into a life threatening surgery that she may not have come out of!!! Point of my story- Bellport Animal Hospital misdiagnoses pets, doesnt care at alllllll about their patients, and Im wondering how much money he would have gotten if I went through with the surgery, does he have a kickback from the 24 hr place he sent us to? Not to mention the possibility of the costs after my dog died. This is by far the worst feeling and I hope that everyone out there with a pet doesnt just listen to the first opinion of a vet and goes for a 2nd opinion. I highly recommend Hampton Veterinary Hospital in Speonk. They were all so caring and kind and mortified that I was told she needed emergency surgery. They even said that most vets do this for the money, they tell you that your dog needs this emergency surgery so they can make more money. This is def the first time I am so grateful that I have trust issues and didnt listen to this jerkoff at Bellport. I hope you rot in **** sir. I almost accidentally killed my dog because of you.

I have been using Bellport Animal Hospital since moving to the area in 1998. As a Labrador breeder I need many services and Dr Cangro is the best vet and surgeon. Very professional and knowledgeable . His staff is also wonderful. I would not use anyone else.

I have been using them for over fifteen years now. I have an Cocker Spaniel. They do one great Cocker Spaniel job. He gets an professional, championship cut. They are very good with the animals. I research my people, and I am very loyal to them. Their prices are reasonable, they are within the norm.

    In-Home Pet Services Patchogue-Medford
As always, it went perfectly.  Jesse and her team are professional and caring pet nannies.  They are prompt, adapt with ease to last minute changes in visit dates/times and to changes in our pets' routines, some of whom have  require medication.  They've provided overnight services when we're away for extended periods; brought in the mail, fed the pond  fish, changed the pond filter, put out the trash; whatever needed to be done.  Knowing our pets can remain in the comfort in their home instead of being kenneled brings us a great deal of relief.

We have been taking our pets to Lady & the Tramp for over 20 years.  They groomed our dos throughout  their lives and now my cat. Most of the staff have been with L&T for many years which really speaks to the management and the atmosphere provided to employees. Prices always fair and they really care for the the animals they groom.

    Rocky Shores Veterinary Hosp

I met Dr. Robert Guasto 6 years ago when I adopted my 2 adult male cats at  LAPH/ Grateful Paws no kill shelter in Huntington.  I was concerned that one of my cats had ear problems, so I returned to the shelter to have him checked out.  I was immediately pleased at his demeanor and handling of my cat.  As it turns out there was no major issue, just a deep ear cleaning, which resolved the problem in a few days.  The same cat had a cloudy eye when adopted.  About a year later he developed problems which required an enucleation to remove the eye.  I saw an ophthalmologist in Plainview who advised that there was a hole in the cornea and the eye needed to be removed.  I was displeased with the way he treated my cat after he was told he came from  shelter.  I went straight to Dr. Guasto that Friday, had blood work completed prior to surgery and had the eye removed the following Monday.

My cat came home after his surgery and was purring and rubbing as though he was saying thank you for his relief.

Rather than being reclusive and hiding because of his painful eye, he became an instant mush.

I reside in Patchogue, but prefer to go to Rocky Shores for the grtea care my cats receive.

If you're looking for a great veterinarian, give them a call.

My dogs love this place !  they always come back in great shape and clean and happy.  My only complaint is when we arrive they are so happy to see where they are , wish they could be just a little sad that I'm leaving . I usually drop them off , bur when we had a family emergency , they came right to the house to pick up the guys ........

they were even able to give my neighbors cat a bath >>>>

    In-Home Pet Services Patchogue-Medford

In-Home Pet Services provided punctual, caring and professional service with email updates to let me know how things were going.  This is so much better than kenneling a pet when we're away - the pet has the familiar comforts of their home and they get to make a new friend.  Jesse met the canine and feline crew in advance and took careful notes on their behaviors and needs.  Highly recommend this service for when one is travelling or will otherwise have an extended stay away from home (like a long work day).

He has treated three of my dogs and I never ever had a problem, in fact, I always was pleased with the care and service provided by Dr. Doherty and his practice. If you love your animals, absolutely visit Bayport Village Animal Health Center.
