  • The finished job exceeded our expectations! We added a great room, complete with woodburning stove, beamed vaulted ceiling and custom wide-plank oak floors, and kitchen and bath renovation. From start to finish, all work was done in a clean and timely manner each day. Worker arrived promptly. This is a family business therefore, communication was clear and easy. When you spoke to one person, you knew the message was clear to all, no misunderstanding. In addition to the fine work, Joe Pohalski offered expert advice and guidance in designing and positioning some features, this was really appreciated.   • Jim came over an assessed the damage, showed me what, and what I didn't need to repair, which saved me a lot of money, and gave me a fair price for the repairs. He showed up when he said he would, and explained what the process would be from start to finish. His team was very professional, and courteous.   • They did a fantastic job creating a clean, comfortable living area out of raw space (cinder block walls, concrete floor). The fujitsu heater/ac unit they recommended keeps the space dry and a perfect temperature. (Price includes the fujitsu unit, approximately $3,000. The only part of the project JBL did not do was the flooring, which we had carpeted.)

  • Job went well. My wife and I are thrilled with the result, it looks like a new home. Scott was honest and fair with his pricing, no surprise costs after the wallpaper and paneling came down, just paid what I was quoted before the job started.   • The job went very well.  The initial time frame was 4-6 weeks.  In the end, the completion time was slightly past 6 weeks.  The final outcome turned out very well and we have received many compliments from friends and family.  Charles is a pleasure to work with.  His designer provided us a 3D rendering of what the kitchen would look like.  Regarding the cabinets, flooring and countertops, that was provided through him.  This assisted with monetary savings and the transactions occurred relatively smoothly.  He is a local contractor who will deliver an exceptional, finished product.  I would highly recommend both him and his team.

  • Scope of work:
    Remove old gray bathtub in main bathroom upstairs (bathroom
    #1) and the three surrounding walls in order to update the tile an replace gray
    old tub with new white tub.  In order to
    remove original cast iron tub, floor had to be removed. The vanity and toilet
    had to be removed and later put back in place. New ceramic floor has to be
    installed.  Master Bedroom (bathroom # 2)
    shower had a cracked base which had to be removed and replaced.  In order to remove base, the bottom two rows
    of tiles had to be removed on the shower walls.
    Prior to Job Carmine (owner) gave me a list of things to buy
    at the home center stores so that all would be present when the job got
    started.  While shopping, I had questions
    about certain items on his list.  He answered
    the phone and was always accessible to me by phone.  He is a contractor that actually calls you
    back.  How rare is that these days?  If you
    do not want the details which are extensive scroll down to the SUMMARY.
     
    Day 1 Beginning of
    the renovation of bathroom #1
    :
     Carmine arrived
    between 7:00am-7:30am as advised prior to beginning the job.  He came in and removed the three walls of
    tile surrounding the tub as well as the vanity and the toilet.
    Day 2 Continuation of
    demolition:

     Carmine came with his
    helper Jason.  They started to try to rip
    up the old floor in bathroom #1 but found that there were actually two
    floors.  One was built on top of the
    other.  Original floor was in mud on top
    of subfloor.  Then cement board was added
    and another floor was laid on top.   No
    luck getting the floor up on this day.  A
    jackhammer was scheduled for day 3.  In
    the meantime, they went to work on bathroom #2. 
    Two rows of tile and the cracked shower base was removed.  The new shower base was ordered with new
    shower doors.  The shower drain has to be
    adjusted for the new base.
    Day 3 Continuation of
    demolition
    :
    Day three was noisy. 
    The jackhammers came out and the whole house shook.  The floor was removed but because of the
    vibration the dining room ceilings nails and drywall screws started to back
    out.  So now the dining room ceiling had
    to be repaired.  Drywall was cut out and
    a new piece installed. 
    Day 4 Tub removal:
    Now that the floor was removed the cast iron tub was able to
    be removed.  Carmine informed me that the
    plumbing for the tub was actually plumbing for a sink.  The size of the pipes were wrong and the
    drain had practically no pitch for water runoff.  He replaced the plumbing and drain with
    PVC. 
    Day 5 New Tub Install:
    The new tub was installed. 
    My pipes that went to my sink vanity were moved to the wall.  Previously, the pipes came up from the
    floor.  This was probably done due to the
    fact that this wall at one time was an exterior wall and whoever installed the
    plumbing did not want the pipes to freeze over the winter.
     
    Day 6-10 Install:
    Now that everything has been demolished and removed, all
    that was left was to put the bathroom back together.  New wall tile, new floor tile, and the new
    toilet was installed.  Whenever there was
    a question about something, I was consulted. 
    Nothing was ever done without my approval.  The new base for bathroom #2 was delivered on
    day 8 and was installed on day 9.  Two
    rows of tile were added to the shower because the shower doors are supposed to
    but up against the tiled wall to prevent any kind of leaks.  This is not how they were previously
    installed and I had drywall damage due to the incorrect installation.  The finishing touches such as towel racks,
    soap dish, and towel hook were put in on day ten. Both bathrooms were finally
    complete. 
     
    Summary:
    If you want things done right you hire Carmine and his crew.
    He is a true professional which is a rare find these days in the residential
    construction industry. There are many contractors out there.  Many of them know how to do the work but very
    few know how to run a business.  Carmine
    knows how to run a business.  He knows
    the meaning of customer service.  He was
    prompt in returning my phone calls.  He
    kept me informed of what was going, on when it was going on, and how to take
    care of problems as they appeared.  He
    and his workers, Jason and Shane, were true workhorses who were courteous to me
    and my family.

  • Matt is a truly skilled craftsman and his work exceeded our expectations. Before hiring him, my wife and I ripped up the outdated carpetting, underlying tile, and then the underlying mastic-covered plywood from our bedroom, which left us with just our sub-floor which was in pretty bad shape. It was very unlevel, full of squeaks, and somewhat warped. We plan to put hardwood flooring in there so we knew now was the time to fix the underlying issues to ensure the best end-result. We had a couple people give us estimates on installing new plywood, including some flooring companies, but after meeting Matt we knew he was the guy for the job. We were very impressed with his professionalism, knowledge, and assessment of the situation. When other guys said, "yea i'll put the plywood in for X dollars" and left me with a card, Matt took the time to explain exactly what we were dealing with and what exactly he would do to make sure everying was level, without squeaks, and ready to receive a hardwood floor free of foundational and aesthetic issues. His price was very reasonable as well. Matt is licensed and insured, and had me sign a contract which also put my mind at ease, knowing that I'm working with someone who takes their work seriously and isn't out to play games.
    As for the project, it was completed promptly, quickly, and thoroughly; I couldn't be more satisfied. I plan to hire Master Handyman Services in the near future for whatever else comes up in my home, as I know I'll be paying for quality and to have the job done right the first time. Lastly, Matt is a really nice guy and a pleasure to work with. Very highly recommended!

  • John came to assess the work and give an estimate.  We decided to go with him as he was confident the leaks could be fixed without replacing the entire roof and his work is guaranteed.  His crew worked two full days and showed me several pictures of what they found as they were making repairs.  What really impressed me was that, as the work was in progress, the crew determined that they had to remove more siding and extend the repair work than previously thought.  This was done with no additional cost to me.  I would definitely recommend LeakStoppers to anyone that has a roof leak.

  • A soffit was built on back side of house roof, rotted plywood boards were replaced on the main roof, extension roof and second floor walls. New siding replaced damaged one on the back of house. New gutters completed the job.
    The crew was punctual and neat. Thought the price was fair, would recommend Dormer Doctor.
