  • Kenny, was great. He showed up on a rainy Sunday over Memorial day weekend and performed the work required (and some) as well was on time and very professional. If you need to have anything done with a garage door I would highly recommend calling Kenny and having him do it for you. At a time when not everyone shows up when they say to do work for you, he does and does it right the first time.

  • It's hard to rate this company because there are so many people involved and the ratings vary based on the people.

Jeff, the salesperson was on time, explained everything, gave us a written estimate, and came back when there were a couple of issues. He was great. The women who answer the phone are very professional and have always forwarded messages and we received calls back.

We were not happy with phase 1 of the project. We asked for the dirt they removed to be put in the yard. They dumped it on the side of the house. They left a huge hole at the end of our driveway with nothing covering it. They dug out a stump for us, which was great, but then they left it on the side of the house. Thankfully the town was coming through that day to pick up brush. A town worker, who went above and beyond, came onto the grass and took the stump for us. He didn't have to do that. I just happened to look out because I heard the truck. The guys from Affatato got a huge tip from my husband, and they just dumped everything. We're finding that when you tip people, you get the worst from them instead of the best. We can't figure that out, but we really don't want to tip people anymore.

Phase 2 went much better. The masons (can't remember their names) did a great job. Only thing is I wish I would've gone with our original plan. The mason showed me the way he had to do the job because the ground sunk and our first step was really steep. So the belgium blocks on the grass side would've been really high and it wouldn't have looked right. We went with his plan which was to put pavers on the grass side. I'm not crazy about the way it looks. I think we should've left the high step and went with the original plan, then fixed the steps later. They have to be done anyway, and now we'd have the belgium blocks on both sides, the way I wanted them.

    No problems with phase 3.

We did have a couple of issues with tire marks from my husband's truck even though we didn't drive on the driveway for 2 weeks (they suggested only 10 days), and we don't turn the wheels while the cars are still. They came to fix the problem, but honestly it just looks worse. We were told to wait a year until it all settles, and then they'll seal it. I hope it looks better at that point because instead of tire marks, we now have patches where they used a torch to repair the spots, and parts of the driveway look more brown than black.

I'm not sure if I would use them again. I answered yes because we are happy with some of the work and the customer service is pretty good. However, now that I'm a member of Angie's list, I would definitely research some other companies.

  • The 1st and second steps went reasonably well. After the paving stones were put down, there was a problem with the level of the grass compared to the paving stones. In some spots the grass extended 6+ inches above the pavers. I was hoping when the base was stomped down that things would change, but they didn't. I contacted Kevin my salesperson prior to the last phase of asphalt and he claimed he tried to convince me to get Belgium block, so this wouldn't happen when he first made the deal. He may have tried to convince me to do Belgium block, but I don't like the look of them. He never explained to me that my grass would be 6+ inches above the pavers in spots if I went with the pavers. He then told me I would have to call a landscaper to deal with the problem. I called 2 landscapers to level off my grass bordering the pavers and I had one estimate of $550 complete and another one of $200 but I had to buy and plant the grass seed. There was no apology, there was no adjustment in the price to compensate me for the unexpected landscaping that had to be done. After the final phase of putting the asphalt down was complete and we waited 10 days to park the cars on it, I noticed some separating of the asphalt at the top of the driveway. I called the company and left a message for Kevin and he never called me back.
Also, at the beginning of the whole process, my 1 stipulation was that the work was finished before August 31st. That didn't happen.
