What is really troubling is having a job done incorrectly that could result in a very serious situation. I am talking about the refractory panels that were installed in our fireplace by Guaranteed Chimney as a result of the original ones cracking after more than 20 years of use. But Guaranteed Chimney had to replace the new panels that they had installed after just one season of use because they cracked The second set they installed also cracked, again after just one season of use. Keep in mind that the original panels had lasted more than 20 years before cracking. The first time the panels were replaced free of charge, but Guaranteed Chimney has refused to deal with the second set cracking. We have since found out that Guaranteed Chimney used generic panels and did not even install these correctly. The side panels are loose and could fall down while the fireplace is being used, leading to a major problem that could easily get out of control. By the way, we were never told that generic panels rather than those matching the fireplace brand had been used. We discovered that after another chimney/fireplace company came to inspect the problem. Incidentally, Guaranteed Chimney also said that we needed a new damper because it would not close correctly. I fixed the problem myself resulting in a considerable savings. Look elsewhere other than Guaranteed Chimney if you need fireplace or chimney work done.

NO SHOW. I confirmed to have my chimney swept, reconfirmed and they never showed up during a 3 hour window. I left messages and emailed the contact and no response. The service person called me 3 hours after the appointment was scheduled for and came up with an excuse for why no one showed up or called me. They couldn't make good on coming that day, or the following day and no one from the company got back to me when I asked what happened.

    Quality 1st Maintenance
My heating company came over to look at the furnace and they know that some work had been done, and wanted to know what it was. I told them and they asked if I did fall for that because they said I didn't need to do that so I felt ripped off. He showed me where water moisture had deteriorated the cement inside the chimney, and showed me some rubble at the bottom. They said that it will cause a pump back and I have to do it. My heating person told me I didn't have to do that. They told me to call them if I ever have a question but I felt like I have just been ripped off. He was giving me a discount but I didn't get the discount. He told me what a bargain he was giving me and he seemed so honest and so nice. He enclosed it altogether and he charged the full amount for the sweep and I didn't notice it until later, and he did an additional chimney too. I felt it was disreputable. At first, I was very pleased. I thought they were giving me a great deal and saving me from future damage. I didn't like paying it, and they also did do the extra chimney but when I found out much later that I didn't need to do that, and it was another scam to do this time, not just them but a lot of them, they have a reputation that I felt cheated. Their manner was very nice, they were clean, and they were thorough. The price was awful. I think they overcharged for the liner. The other thing was I had pressure that I had to do that or they couldn't give me that price which is a scam. I assume the quality is okay, but I have no way of knowing. They were very responsive. If they did clean it, then the price was terrible but for a liner, I have no idea what it should cost. He really had me convinced and I didn't even question. They appeared professional. It's hard to judge because my concept after they left was great. It wasn't until later that I realized that it was a rip off. By appearance and the way they conducted themselves, they were professional-looking.

Done Right Roofing & Chimney Inc
terrible. Although the two men were polite and well behaved they tried to charge an outrageous amount for the waterproofing which I bargained down somewhat. Then their equipment broke and I ended up supplying both the waterproofer and and the sprayer in order to finish the job. When I suggested we renegotiate the price as a result they refused. I would highly recommend staying away from them. Their whole approach was that of trying to overcharge as much as they could get away with.

I can't tell you if they're good at what they do but the customer service/marketing needs improvement. I had to make multiple calls to rectify the situation and get a credit for the amount that I paid. For me, it was just the hassle and less about the price.

Flawless.  Everyone at this company was on the ball - the office, the contractors - just what you hope for when you hire someone to work on your home.  They arrived on time, knew what needed to be done, and even kept the place spotless.  I really couldn't be happier and when it's time to do it all again they've got my business.

They arrived on time and cleaned the chimney . I had to repeatedly insist that I needed an accurate estimate for work that needed to be done . The Technician argued with me telling me he could eyeball it from the deck. The assistant raced to load the ladder onto the truck. I insisted and finally got an estimate with measurements. Then I found out that the employees routinely bad mouth their customers and spread gossip about the customers homes. After having learned this WE WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN ! IF. You value
Privacy and expect contractors to respect you and your home I suggest you think very carefully before allowing them into your house .

Prompt courteous service. Very clean and professional. They installed a stainless steel liner for my fireplace chimney. I have not used the fireplace since installation so I cannot comment on how well the job was completed. I do have a concern about this company. I have used them three times and each time after the inital visit to inspect and clean, they find a problem they recommend be fixed for a substantial cost. Two years ago it was for a stainless liner for the boiler chimney ($1,800), last year mositure proofing ($1,300). I did not get a second opinion which may have been a good idea.  Howeve,.this company received a good rating on Angie's List and an A- rating from the Better Business Bureau.

Very well.  Servicemen were punctual, courteous and professional.  Very clean - it was a rainy day and they brought drop cloths to ensure there would be no mess.  However, i have used this company three times and each time they come up with an expensive repair or improvement.  Two years ago it was a liner for the oil burner chimney ($1,800)  moisture proffing the next year ($1,300) and this year the other liner ($2,300).  I did n ot get second opinions which I probably should have done but this company does get an overall good rating on Angie's Llist and a A- rating on the Better business website.  Even if the liners were not an emergency at this point I do feel more secure having them installed to prevent fires, carbon-monoxide problems, etc.  Expensive but worth it in my opinion.

    Island Chimney Service
They were supposed to clean my chimney from my wood burning stove and to redo the flu for the furnace and stove. They said that the sky light was leaking also so they came in to repair it even though it wasn't a convenient time for me, the work was never done and they charged me an additional $300 for work not done.  When I went to leave after the work was done they had tied their trash to my mailbox and left parts on my yard and deck.  I called and they finally picked it up.  When I saw my bank statement I found that they had charged me $500 by "accident" and after disputing with the BBB he said he would refund my money. Now, however, he says that he cannot afford to repay me.
