Job was not as simple as I expected . Scum layer was very thick because maintenance had not been done for a long time. Also, the tank has two chimneys, one with the cover at surface level. I had told the office on the set-up call that no digging would be necessary. However, the serviceman found that at the easy-access chimney, very hard scum prevented the pumping of the liquid there. I had started digging down to the second chimney with the cover below surface level, but did not finish before. The serviceman finished digging down to the cover w/o charging extra. He finished the job very efficiently. Also used a discount that lowered the price below $200. And he came in a super clean red truck!

It was a coincidence that he came on the same day as they came for our maintenance checkup. We had an HVAC technician in the morning and a plumber in the afternoon. We had a toilet that was leaking. Basically, inside the tank my wife puts those cleaning discs like Clorox cleaning discs to make the water nice and fresh. Those discs rot out the inside of the fittings and stuff. That cleared up that leak but we also check the other toilets. We have three bathrooms. He showed us where they were all damaged too. We had to replace all the fittings inside those toilets. They are very professional. They showed us and explained everything to us. He made us come and look at the other two. We checked them together. He let us see what he was saying, demonstrated. We were going to have a problem with the others too so he needed to do all 3 of them. Before they do any work, they access things and tell what they think needs to be done. How much it is going to cost and how long it is going to take. Then have you give the go ahead to do it. They are very good about it. Taking time to diagnose, explain, and let you tell them whether or not you want to do it

    Rolling Rooter
I happened to have an excavator at my house to dig a pool and asked him to dig to up the front yard because I was having a problem with the drain in my garage (1958 house). I was sure where the drain went once it left the garage. He found the pipe but didn't have the tools to fix the problem. I had had 2 other "rooter" guys try to clear the drain. Called Rolling Rooter and told him what was going on. He said he had to finish up with his wife's dr. appt but would be out within 2 hrs. and he was. Had the right tools and with the pipe exposed was able to clear the drain. He was then worried that we were supposed to get rain and the trench would collapse. He didn't have the right pipe so ran out and got the pipe to repair the break, came back, waded through muddy water and did the repair. Threw enough dirt on to protect everything and then was satisfied drain would stay fixed. I would ABSOLUTELY call them again. Never expected him to show up same day and all was fixed in a couple hours. He said he could have dug the pipe as well so he can also dig.

    Choice Home Warranty
First, there were several things that I've learned they don't cover even though the sales rep assured me their coverage is equal to what I had with American Home Shield.  For example, my outside faucet started leaking.  Had one fixed before my AHS contract was up and it works great now.  Called Choice Home for the one that started leaking recently and they said "all faucets are not covered on your policy inside and out".
They post updates to the claim on their web site and allow you to post responses/feedback to the same claim, but they hide your contributions from showing up on the audit trail-only their posts appear.  What?  You don't want me to see my follow-up?
They will go ahead and cancel a claim without talking to you if they send you 3 follow-up emails.  Sounds reasonable right?  But every time I call in I get 20" minute hold time and I can't always wait that long.  My attempts are not logged.
If you get Septic coverage and pumping, your system has to back-up before they will agree to pump it.  Don't buy this service.
Overall the biggest disappointment is in their customer service -which for most companies is the easier-to-fix item because it involves your systems and your people.  Waiting on hold for 20+ minutes every time you call is horrible.

Great. We've used Mr. Snyder for many years to do everything from large (e.g., new well pump) to small (e.g., new home faucets) jobs. . He's professional, knowledgeable and very helpful. Never

    A Real Plumber
~I have a Moen kitchen sink faucet, no water issues... just the base of faucet got loose, saw this plumbing service call offer in angies list and wanted to make use of this opportunity as I do not have right tool to tighten nut under the sink, as well as a pro might be able to fix stuff if it's more than DIY, in any way it was max 30 min work with right tool.
~purchased deal (vendor: A Real Plumber, albany, ny), 39$ for service call (includes 39$ towards repairs) - this shpould actually cover for fix I am looking for (with a washer and o ring if needed)
~confirmed service time for 7/22 between 9 - 10 am, I cleared everything under sink and made work area ready so that we don't waste any time, as I needed to take my kids out.
~Chris from A Real Plumber showed up at 10:15 AM, explained what I needed
~first 15 mins or so he spent on other things try to convince me shut off valves needed to be replaced< I know they work properly shutting and releasing as needed as I do use faucet filters and time to time work with them to clean up filter pipes / parts), asked how much it would cost - he quoted 125$ for one, since he is here he can do both for same price, even at this time he did not mention how much would be for faucet fix.
~I did not want any additional work or enhancements, and he started looking into issue, 20 mins later he was back and forth several times to his truck, and informed that he is not finding a right tool to fix this and checking with me to see if I have one with original faucet package - unfortunately this call wouldn't have happened if I had that :-(
~10 mins later he found one from his truck, and was fixed in next 15 mins, he mentioned a small washer need to be changed, which is also done, everything was done by 11:15 with actual time to fix issue about 30 min max
~ during all this time or before neither details in offer or vendor mentioned this service call will have a flat charges etc., he took 15 to 20 mins put his tools back in truck and prepare invoice/bill
~came back and mentioned faucet re-installed and made sure its installed properly, total 175$ - 39$ (amount paid to angies list or towards repairs) = 136$ (for me its total 175$ that I am paying)
~when asked about price that is more for work done, he tried to explain that its charged as a flat rate for faucet repair (remember there is no new faucet involved and its only tightening nut under sink), he mentioned flat charge for 3 hrs.
~when asked about how angies list offer helping me here as its 39$ service call + 39$ towards repairs .. so I should be getting 78$ of worth discount on total bill, he said he is not charging for trip and reducing 39$, so 175$ purely for labor to tighten a nut, I think this is RIP OFF,  they have coupon on their website for free service call all the time, when asked about it he wanted me to call them directly and NOT to go through angies list. for better value, (reason we chose angies list is to avoid such experiences :-))
~I had a wonderful experience with similar offer a for a pool service call with same conditions, that I will share more details on another review but person came in partially opened my pool and fixed my filter system and ladder and spent more time than this call, did not charge me anything other than what I paid for angies list offer, my suggestion to angies list is to lock price for service call appointments and time based on vendor type and when vendor shows up make sure they evaluate and confirm time needed for the service call if it goes beyond offer time then discuss how much customer need to pay before starting service.
~unfortunately this is second bad experience with A Real Plumber, and I am not going to use their services anymore or recommend to anyone
~being a premium member called angies call center to explain issue, and looking forward if they can help me in any way regarding this matter.

Farrell Brothers was very fair in their pricing and very accommodating to my schedule. They cleaned up after the furnace install and the entire transaction was seamless. So far there are no issues with the new furnace.

Bruce showed up within the scheduled window.  I had told the receptionist when placing my order that I the seats were worn and needed replacement.  Bruce showed up with the proper tools to extract the old seats and had a divider box full of possible replacement seats.  When he got the most worn one out he commented that he had never seen a seat that popped in rather than being screwed in, and wasn't sure if he had the right one with him.  My faucet mixer is likely the original installed when the house was built in 1958, so I had been concerned about that.  But Bruce looked in his little box and, voila!, he found two that matched!  He quickly installed them and put new washers in place  and reassembled the faucets.  He leak tested the repair before finishing up.

I had used an offer I had received by email the day before for a $69 service call, with the $$ applied toward the repair.  This deal amounted to a half hour of work, and darned if Bruce didn't complete the job that quickly.  I was immensely pleased to get this job done for only $69.

Bruce commented that many plumbers probably would have wanted to sell me a new mixer, requiring removing the tile and going into the wall at a cost of $900+.  But he said he preferred to fix the old equipment when possible because it is often made better.

Except for the high cost, I was happy with the service.  They were prompt and professional.  This happened last winter & I am only now responding to the inquiry.  I found the receipt and it shows:

    Emergency Service Call                                  $150.00

It was $60 or $70 an hour.  We had used them in the past.  We signed up Angie’s List, I looked them up and they had gotten a decent rating. The service depends on the technicians that we get.  There are a couple of really fabulous technicians who really seem like they know what they’re doing and then there are a couple of guys that are a little less knowledgeable.  It almost appeared as if they came ill prepared on one visit and then they got to bill for their travel time while they went to get the parts.  If we know who the technicians are to ask for then it’s great but if we don’t, then it’s pretty disappointing.  We haven’t had a tremendous amount of complaints. I thought the answers and the work I had done were worthwhile with fair prices, but my in-laws called them in with a problem about their furnace and the guy that came showed up without the appropriate parts to do the job, and he charged them travel time to go back to the office to get the parts they needed. So it ended up being pretty pricey for the work he had done.  We had no issues at all with the two technicians that we dealt with.  In our personal experience, we thought they were responsive.  They got in when we needed them to get in.  There were some other local companies that were telling us that they only come to this area one day a week and we would have to wait.  They were perfect with punctuality.
