    Dons Moving and Storage Inc
They were on time, the three guys who showed up worked really hard and didn't take any breaks. They moved all the furniture and a few of the boxes we hadn't included in the original estimate. They were careful with our belongings, we paid what we expected to pay, and it took exactly the 4 hours estimated. They fit everything nicely into the storage unit. They did a great job! It was a great experience.

    Handle-It Moving & Storage
The service was excellent. The workers were very good, very nice, professional, kind and very cautious. They are very good at maneuvering furniture. They were very prompt. I would tell a friend that they are very good. I have actually recommended them to several people who have also used them with great satisfaction.

I don’t remember their price but I know they were a little pricier than other moving companies, but they were available to do what I needed them to do.  So I went with them.  I was looking for people that were local and they were available to meet with us.  It was an unusual situation in that I was moving very slowly out of one home into another.  I had not sold the second one yet so I was not looking for a traditional move.  I was looking for assistance just with large furniture.  They seemed great and they were fine.  They were very efficient and quick.  They gave me a hand with additional items that I hadn’t thought of when I had met originally with the consultant or with the guy that comes out and meets with people to set up a contact.  They seemed very careful.  They had told me flat out that they were uneasy about moving one antique that I had, considering the durability of the piece which I definitely appreciated.  I did have some issues with the washing machine after it was moved.  It’s hard to tell why the difficulties arose, whether it was because of the move or whatever.  They went above and beyond.  I would consider them again in the future if I decide to move.  I hopefully will be more organized in the future and I would be more timely with soliciting estimates.

My overall experience with them was good. They got us where we were going and they didn't break anything. It was generally good. The price was good. The thing that colors my experience is just one of their staff who was not very good; the rest of them were great.

I got their reference from Craigslist. There were no reviews in angie's list for them. I chose them primarily because they had a flat rate and not a hourly rate. I called Mike for a quote. He asked me the approximate list of all items we had like all the big items and them approximate number of boxes. After that he gave me a quote of $425. I emailed him back adding couple of more things to the list and the he increased the price to $450 that included the truck and furniture blankets. He also provided references. I called couple of his references and everybody was happy. On the day of moving they were running late, mike emailed me about it . Eventually they came after 1 and half hours of the scheduled time. Two guys same Mike and Shawn. They started loading stuff quickly. They had a good sense of planning and loaded all the stuff using all the space in the truck. In that process all taking care of every item. Loading was good and so was the unloading. They assembled the bed which they had taken apart in the old apartment and kept all the boxes in the appropriate area as we had marked the boxes. They handled the furniture with utmost care and in the entire move nothing broke or got lost. Very impressed with both of them. Finally at the time to pay they called the office and were asked to collect $475 from me. I talked to the Mike Henderson on phone and he said as we had some extra stuff which we had not told him before, so the extra labor cost. I did not miss to mention a lot of items, but as the work done was very good I was fine with extra $25. I would use them again & would recommend them.

    Mabey's Moving & Storage Inc
Mabey's has always been my first choice and call for moving in the Albany, NY area. I know a number of people who have used them for local moves (including my wife when we first got married) and I have never heard anything but good reports.

However, I have twice contacted Mabey's about a move across state lines (Interstate) and, while their prices were better than many, they never had the best price. Furthermore I have found them completely inflexible on their prices and they seem to quickly lose interest if they aren't sure you are going with them. I made clear to them that I would use them if they came within 5% of the price of another mover (who is also a major, very highly rated national company with a big local presence) and I could not even get the Mabey's rep to call me back - in every case I had to call him. In the end I am using the other company - they have been much more responsive and professional and there price is a full 10% lower for a major interstate move.

Lastly I was very surprised that the Mabey's rep estimated my move (around 18,000) lbs. by tick marks on a form and then adding everything up via a calculator. The mover I selected did a full inventory of my house with a handheld device and gave me an excellent report listing everything I was and was not taking. I was then able to understand how I could save some weight (and money) or what it would be if I brought additional items.  In finalizing the dollars of the move I walked through the specific inventory with the rep and told her exactly what to add and remove from the list and she was instantly able to revise the weight and cost.  I don't know why a company like Mabey's can't do the same thing.
