    Saul's Paving
Saul contacted me the same day I emailed him and was at my house to look at the job that evening. Gave an estimate for exactly what I wanted and it was very reasonable (I have gotten other estimates in the past for the same job). He told me when he would be on site to do the job and was here on the day and promptly. Everything was very professional and easy to deal with. I had a contractor last year who I had signed a contract with to do the same job, but could only get an estimate of when he would be available to do it and then he never got back to me (not an Angie's List provider and no money changed hands). The new driveway is still setting but it looks great. Assuming I have no problems with it I plan to use Saul for other stone work in the future.

    Gene's Pavement Sealing
Gene filled the cracks in the driveway with hot tar and then coated it by HAND with a brush, being extremely careful to not splash our retaining wall that runs parallel with the driveway. We've used Gene quite a few times over the years and will definitely hire him again when needed.

    Gene's Pavement Sealing
Gene responded quickly to my call. The work was done completely and clean up was thorough.
Estimate was less expensive than competitors.
I called with a question and left a voice mail.  He responded promptly.
It was a very pleasant experience.

    SMITH'S SEAL COATING
A little hard to make contact. You call them, leave message and they get back to you. Kept playing phone tag for days. Power washed the driveway and trimmed back the grass to prepare it for them. It was exactly 10 minutes from the time they arrived till they left. Driveway is 54' x 26'. Their workmanship was absolutely perfect. The coating shows none of the usual brush marks or squeegee lines and looks like a brand new blacktop job. There wasn't one drop of spilled sealer anywhere. The Forman even took off of his shoes to come up on the porch to present us with the bill. One of the most professional companies I have ever dealt with to work on my property.

    BOB TALHAM INC
I obtained 4 estimates from local contractors that ranged from $4800 to $7500.  One charge me tax in the estimate which I immediately tossed because my job was a "capitol improvement", which is tax free Z(no one else tried to charge tax).

I settled on Bob Talham because his was the most reasonable estimate--and his local family-run business has been around for 40+ years. Also, he seemed to know exactly what I wanted--which (considering that I'm 60+ years old) was not a driveway that was going to last into the next century like one of contractors wanted to build.

I mailed him a 10% deposit and, after contacting me the night before, four days later he and his crew were at work on my property at 8 AM prompt.  (He wanted to start at 7AM but I stalled him until 8 because I had planned a party the night before).  Bob showed up in person with a crew of 7 or so, and with all the various types of machines and trucks he needed to do the job.  By 3:30 PM he was done, and I cut him a check for the remainder of the estimate.

I found Bob Talham to be easy to talk to, with a good sense of humor and professionalism, and he was quite receptive to my needs. I have no idea how long this re-surfacing will last--but the asphalt look to be of very high quality, and I am quite pleased with the way he banked the driveway (at my request) so that the rainwater would run towards our pond, and not the house.

All in all, I think I paid a very fair price for a very good job--and at this point I'm quite happy!

    BARRETT BLACKTOP
Sorry did the in the wrong order. We had two large sections of our horseshoe driveway done. In addition, three other areas needed to be fixed. They cut the old blacktop out of all 5 sections, put in crushed stone, sand, packed it down and filled it in with the blacktop. We seemed to have misplace the detail of exactly what types of materials were used so we can't put that information in the review.

    L Browe Asphalt Services
Everything went very well. I stayed to watch everything. They milled out areas in the existing driveway where there were large cracks, to avoid them showing up again. At one point I said I thought the contract said that they would excavate deeper for the gravel base, and they checked the contract and then dug deeper. They had a large crew and good equipment, and I could not believe how quickly they could do everything. A nice set of guys, and they produced very nice results.
