    Bennett Contracting Inc

I originally called Bennett (and several others) based on recommendations from Angie's list.  I selected Bennett--even though their prices were  comparable with 2 others who gave us quotes.  I  liked the fact that they were local--using local suppliers--and also that they were flexible in terms of timing.  In June my wife and I settled on having them do the job--but didn't commit to it.  The delay was because we had a wedding in our back yard in August, and were gone in September/early October--and Bennett was willing to work with us on the timing (I had to re-accumulate some $$, after the wedding, before starting the work).  In mid October I  got back to them with an OK--they quickly came out and made final measurements, ordered the doors, and started work in mid December.

Every one associated with Bennett was a pleasure to work with, from Kevin Gutman who came out to hour home, went through all the options, and ultimately gave us a quote--and was willing to honor the quote 4 months later--to John who came out and did the measurements, through Andrew Dowen and Bill Mattison who ultimately installed the doors over a 3 day period.   My wife and I have ZERO complaints.  This was not a "bargain" deal, we went for the good stuff--and are very pleased (so far) with the installation, looks and functionality.  Considering that the costs were similar to that of others, I think we made the right decision--and I'm positive that Bennett will stand by their products!

They showed up on time and completed the project efficiently, which I was grateful for considering it was the middle of winter and they needed to remove the front door and sidelights. Very happy and will use them again to replace my sliding door.

The adjustments that they have done were all under warantee for the door. For the first adjustment, the door was not aligned correctly with the frame. With the second adjustment, the door was just pulling hard. It apparently was off of the track or the wheels were incorrectly adjusted but now since they have come it has been corrected and I am satisfied at this time. I think that their staff has some good people and some maybe not as experienced because I had to have them come back twice to adjust it. It was good that they came but for all of that money, it just seemed like too much effort to go through.

He did an inspection on the floor and the after he figure out what the problem was he went and bought the materials and that was part of the price I paid. The he took care of it just a few hours. Overall he seem very knowledgeable on what he did. He explained what the problem was and showed me then he took care of it. I don't have anymore issues in dealing with him.

I've been very pleased with them. Their workmanship and their communication has been excellent. I haven't signed any other contracts with them yet, but they've agreed to handle this on an ongoing basis.

    WSJ General Contractors
In June of 2009, I had a flooded basement. I asked them to give me an estimate for the job. I gave them a deposit, with the understanding that they would complete the work. I decided not to go through with the work, and I was told someone would come by to issue me a refund. Eight attempts at contact later, I ended up in court with them. There is a judgment against him to refund my deposit. The longer I was in contact with him, the more animosity I felt coming from him. He did not give me any other choice than to go to court to get my money back. 12/17/2009 Update: A judgement was rendered by the Saratoga Springs City Court requiring WSJ to return $438. To date, no payment has been made.

Ordered the WRONG cabinets! Had to wait 4 weeks for new ones! Ordered WRONG PANTRY! Had to wait 4 weeks for new one! Countertops, one side of kitchen is higher than the other, cabinets too high for me (didn't bother to measure countertop for my height, just said that the floor was uneven, they had to do what the floor allowed them to do (wouldn't a professional have fixed this problem?) They installed the new stove, but it was BELOW the countertop, which it should have been level with the counter, so now we have plywood stuck underneath the stove to raise it, and it looks hideous! The countertop was installed improperly on 1 side. It didn't match up in the corner, and it now has a brown epoxy sloppily placed in the corner to fill the gap. Cabinet doors hung crookedly. Handles on cabinets had the screws chipping through the wood on the inside, very sloppy. Floor wasn't level, but they still placed the Pergo floor right on top of unevenness instead of leveling off to even.
