Driveway Pavers reviews in East Amherst

    Sutton Paving & Excavation Inc
Sutton Paving just finished replacing my 30 year old blacktop driveway. It was a refreshing change of pace to deal with a contractor that quoted a fair price, did what he said he was going to do and kept me in the loop the whole time. Brandon came out to my house and gave me a reasonable estimate quickly once I contacted him. He and his crew scheduled the job and showed up on time. They did a great job tearing out my old driveway without destroying my landscaping or damaging my sprinkler system. They were friendly and polite and cleaned up afterwards. The finished driveway looks great and I could not be more pleased.

Jand D's was the cheapest estimate I received but that wasn't the primary reason I chose him. The biggest reason I chose to use his services over others was because he was planning on using a steam roller on the driveway instead of simply handing tamping it smooth. Second he gave me a discount on choosing him + the asphalt removal which other contractors added on for $300+ while Jand D's only added a flat $200.

He also seemed the most genuine - he always called me back, never played phone tag, didn't try to upsell me on different work like a full tear out, replacing with concrete, etc. But still remained honest about the longevity of the resurfaced driveway with an expectation of 10-20 years "before it looks like this again". He runs a tight ship, he takes all the phone calls personally instead of having a secretary. I'm sure this was one of the factors that lets him keep prices low. Some folks might take that as a negative, depending on their point of view. But I respected his work ethic and enthusiasm for his own business even though he hasn't been doing it for 30+ years like some others.

On the day of install, he brought quite the serious operation. From the dump truck, the flat bed with the steam roller, to the crew of 6 guys. The new coat of asphalt was compacted down extremely well with the steam roller though it was a bit unnerving to have my house shake the way it did! But I don't think this asphalt is going anywhere anytime soon. I'm glad my driveway looks new and even again. It's been a nearly 6 months and I am still not seeing any dips in the asphalt from parking our cars, it looks the same way it did he installed. I can also now cut wood on saw horses without worrying about it wobbling and killing myself with a circular saw anymore. My only criticisms are he delayed my install day twice from what seemed like scheduling problems around other jobs and/or weather. His crew had a mixture of level of professionalism ranging from young hulking guys who worked hard but also entertained themselves on the job, to guys who have been doing it all their lives and took their job very seriously. I think you'd have to expect that for this line of work.

I definitely got my money's worth and looking forward to having him seal the driveway next year. Highly recommend.

    Marty's Seal Coating, LLC
I called Michael from Marty's Seal Coating and asked for an estimate.
The very next day I received a call from Michael with an estimate to reseal my driveway.
He gave me his price for resealing and told me how to provide payment in the event I was not home at the time of the resealing.
We scheduled a tentative date, weather pending.
I received a call from Michael the day before the work was to be done.
Michael and his crew arrived promptly and did a beautiful job of resealing my driveway.
The product they used was of superior quality. It is not thin and watery as provided by other driveway resealing companies.
    Michael was friendly and professional.
I would highly recommend Marty's Seal Coating and I plan to use him again in the future.

New to the area, had no idea about blacktop sealing. Called them in the fall. They didn't call back. Called them again. The person on the phone laughed and couldn't believe we were trying to get them out so late in the year. Asked for a supervisor who told me "We have enough customers". Yeah. I guess they do. Found someone else who came out the day after we called and did a great job.

    Sutton Paving & Construction
My paved driveway, which is probably about 16 years old was really looking bad. We had been getting it resealed every year, but there were some considerable cracks in the surface. I called Sutton Paving after reading the positive comments on Angie's List. I had to leave a message on an answering machine, which seems to be the norm these days. Mr. Sutton called back the next day and came out soon thereafter to give us an estimate to have it resurfaced. It was interesting to learn that we had been having our driveway sealed too often. Mr. Sutton said it should be done no more than once every two years, and that you can actually get too great of a build-up of driveway sealant, which is what he said was causing our problems. We hired him to resurface our driveway with about one inch of asphalt. The price of the job ended up being what was quoted. He brought out an actual paving machine and a dump truck load of fresh, hot asphalt to do the job. I thought he and his crew did a fine job. There were a couple of spots where the texture was pitted and not smooth in comparison to the rest of the driveway. I called and left a message with my concerns. He was out early the next morning and dropped off a pamphlet titled, "YOUR NEW DRIVEWAY. THE HOW, WHY AND WHEN OF BLACKTOP DRIVEWAY CARE." On page 10 of the pamphlet it states, "Your driveway may look smoother in some areas than in others because of the makeup of blacktop. Blacktop has various sizes of stone, sand, liquid asphalt, and other ingredients which cause a varied texture of the surface. Also, the blacktop areas that have been raked and spread with hand tools may appear different in texture from those spread by machine." Mr. Sutton assured me this was normal, and that after the driveway is sealed for the first time--which he recommended doing in the fall, that the surface would smooth out and look better. I have no reason to doubt what he said or to doubt the information in the pamphlet. All in all, I am very pleased with the work Mr. Sutton did, and with his knowledge and professionalism. I would hire him again and will hire him to seal the driveway this fall.

I was happy with the driveway sealing. The man took his time and didn't miss any spots. The new sealant was put down evenly and professionally. He was a pleasant man and was able to come out to do the job within just a couple of days of my initial call to him. I recommend him.

Once the work was on the schedule, it was done to my satisfaction. They appeared on schedule, worked continuously without creating a mess and were polite.
