Concrete Repair reviews in East Amherst

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • I contacted Custom Builders by email, and it took a while to get a response. But once contact was established, Derek was quick to come out and review the work and provide a quote. His quote was - by far - the lowest of the four I received, though to be complete transparent, I offered to him a very large pile of landscape-worthy stones I had removed from various areas of my yard in a renovation project. (It was a relief for me to get rid of it, so we both benefited.) I was given a work date a good month out, though had hoped for something sooner. He texted me shortly thereafter that he could start the job immediately, owing to an unforeseen delay in another project on which he was working. He set to work removing portions of the porch (corners) and the step and portions of the sidewalk pad. He carefully propped up the second story overhang, removing the two two-story posts which were inset in the original construction process in the concrete. (The bottoms of each had rotted out.) We had discussed a modification of the original footprint to include curved steps and sidewalk bump-out, and he laid forms in accordance with that. Over the course of three days or so, he and his crew (2 guys) prepped the site for concrete, had the concrete delivered, worked hard to form the concrete and smooth (then broom) the top, then tooled the edges for a smooth line. He patched the concrete for a uniform finish on all sides. He was concerned about the colors, and waited until it all dried well to decide whether a top stain would be needed. He inset metal mounting brackets to received the two new pressure-treated lumber posts, and installed the posts, carefully removing the supports. He did decide a stain was needed, and purchased and stained the new concrete for a stunning finish. I was very happy with Derek's work, his work ethic, his diligence, and the speed with which the project happened. With an exterior paint job in the wings, timing was serendipitous. That his price (and ingenious solution others hadn't offered which likely kept costs at a minimum) was the lowest should not concern readers. And he's a really nice guy, to boot. I would hire him again in an instant.

  • My experience was outstanding. I sent Romeo a message on Angie's list requesting an estimate and he got back to me the same day.  Replacing a sidewalk sound simple enough but when you have a house that has settled, a fence gate and existing landscaping to work around it was a challenge Romeo Superior was up to and took extra care in clean-up each day. Romeo and his employees were polite, conscientious and paid attention to detail form the slope and appearance of the sidewalk to the color of the grout used to fill in the cracks on the front of our house. I would recommend Romeo Superior Improvements to anyone in need of smaller concrete job done because his work is Superior :-)

  • I had a dyed stamped concrete patio installed to replace the original deck in my backyard.  My patio consists of 3 large steps down from my back door (my wooden deck used to be elevated) to the surface of the patio.  The steps were installed in a separate pour (eg a dedicated trip from the concrete supply truck) so the very heavy steps and flat patio are separated by a thin expansion joint.  This is the correct way to incorporate the large steps into the patio so there are not later issues with cracking at the stair/flat patio joint (which is much more likely to happen if the entire patio was made as a single pour if the patio was poured with a cheaper single concrete delivery).  The 6 man crew was very friendly and productive and took care to not cause any unnecessary damage to my lawn and yard.  The job was impressive to watch, my patio was installed in the afternoon as this was this crew's second concrete job that day. The first day after the pour someone came buy to pressure wash the deck, cut the joints and did the accent staining to my patio border.  The second day after the pour the last guy sealed the concrete (I wasn't home for these last 2 visits but everything was smooth from my perspective)
The guy who gave me the original quote was at my house on time and spent probably a half hour with me not only measuring the site, giving me his recommendations on color, size, etc, but also educated me on the concrete process and giving me some key things to ask and look for if I were to get competitive bids.  I had a verbal quote from him a few hours after the visit and I had a paper quote in hand in one or two days.  The quote I got was competitive to my other quote and was actually a bit lower in price. Due to the wet spring/summer we had to wait probably a month before they were able to get to my job, but the weather was not their fault, and in a way the fact that they are so busy is actually a testament to the quality of business that they are running.
I'm a very satisfied customer, I would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking to have concrete work done.

  • I contacted the company by phone, they promptly responded and provided an estimate by phone. When contacted again by phone to setup appointment, "Tony" agreed to Wednesday afternoon, then was a no show. When contacted again by phone, they have yet to return call 5 days later. On June 25, 2012 , I received two nasty emails from the owner of the company due to my review.

  • I was looking for a concrete contractor so I looked at Angie's List for possible contractors.
I looked at the list and selected 3 names that were A rated.
I called Kfouri to schedule an estimate to have the work done at my Mom's house.
Kfouri arrived promptly at the agreed upon time.
I called him back several days later to draw up a contract to have the work done.
I received a call the day before the work was to begin and Kfouri arrived at 7:00AM as scheduled.
The workmanship was excellent and was completed in 2 days.
My Mom's neighbor was so pleased with the work done at my house that he had an estimate done for a driveway pad installation at his house later in the summer.
He said he had many estimates for the work to be done and Kfouri had the best price.
Kfouri was professional, courteous and friendly.
He worked in almost impossible conditions replacing the brick work and still had a smile on his face.
I plan on hiring him again in the future to replace a sidewalk at my house.
    I highly recommend Kfouri :)
